Which MONSTA bat is best? M6 vs M5 vs M4 vs M2 | ASA/USA Slowpitch Softball Bat Review

  • Today the Slowpitch Bat Bros bring you a comparison of each Monsta ASA bat variation:
    'M2' 1-piece (Sinister)
    'M2' 2-piece (Torch)
    'M4' 2-piece (Game Only)
    'M5' 2-piece (Flip Money & DNA Legacy)
    'M6' 2-piece (Skud)
Disclaimer: this review is not sponsored and we're gonna keep it brutally honest.
One of the common critiques on Monsta bats is that they're rarely available, but right now the M2 and M5 bats can be found in-stock for reasonable prices all over the place - here are some links:

Hittrax Exit Velocity Testing will take place after on-field hitting!
Also a big update: it sounds like Monsta recently announced that they will we discontinuing their M2 bats - and will move forward with just M5, M6, and M7 (tentative). Not sure exactly what their reasoning behind that is, but if anybody has any additional insight or speculation, feel free to reply to this comment with your thoughts!
Additional commentary below contains *spoilers* so don't read until after watching:
Both kinds of bat testing are super important:
    1) Exit velo testing off of a tee shows how good the bat is when you square it up perfectly every time.
    2) On-field hitting exposes how easy or difficult it is to connect with that ‘perfect’ spot on the barrel. And hitting off of real pitching also shows how the bat reacts to a little bit of incoming velocity. The M4/M6 seemed to get “bullied by the ball” as we like to say - resulting in more rollovers and slight mis-hits. The M2/M5 powered through the ball much better and created a lot more ideal loft/spin.

The rumor mill on the topic says it’s a patent issue with the M2. Not sure, but this video was great. Loved everything about it. You might need a dedicated pitcher though will for live BP. That other guy was crushing it but you had to hit quite a few balls over your head 😂. Seems like a real awesome dude though so no disrespect intended to that baller.
I like that this will even out the game some in ASA. The M2 tech is just too superior in ASA right now.

I finally got on the Monsta bandwagon last year and I am sold...I got the Bat Hound's Unleashed model of the Sinister and although it was way heavier than my other 25 ounce bats, performance was great...the balls have that crack sound when hitting them and the balls jump...i have felt that "i didn't get it feel" when i hit the ball but the ball flies anyhow...when you do feel it, it really goes....next up for you guys is the Utrip Suncoast Austin Dawe balanced 12" Ruckus and the CE version and the new 12" Ruckus Endload.....time to get these on the national radar...very popular down south Florida way...great job on the Monstas, boys

I was just using the M2 sinister clack addict today. Under-handing to myself because why not, and I was probably getting 365-375 in the air with it! Had multiple balls roll over 410 feet in total distance. Most insane bat I’ve ever used. Idk if I would say it’s better than Usssa Masburn Genesis. But damn both really fun bats!

I do wonder how much temperature plays into how well the bats perform, in addition to swing preference. In my experience (with both Monsta and Anarchy) the harder barrelled stuff performs better in the cold, whereas the thinner/hotter stuff kicks ass when it’s warm/hot.

Does it have enough endload to feel like it does some of the driving through the ball for you? Or is it so light that you have to do all the work? Basically just asking if it’s worth going with the 25oz based on the performance in the video. Thanks!!!

Question for you.. I’m fairly new to slow pitch softball and have always used my game bats for batting practice before each game and multiple people use my bats. Obviously this will wear the bats down faster but is there anyway around this? Should I use different bats in batting practice? If so what do you recommend? I play in twice a week from April to basically beginning of November. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what bat you’re swinging and what ball you’re hitting. If you’re swinging and ASA bat with 52/300s, you’re more than likely ok using it for everything. There are some exceptions but if you watch this channel, you’ll figure out what’s fragile. Same wits USSSA. Watch the channel to figure out what’s frail and what will last.
Bats do have a finite life, but it seems like people move on from bats way before the life of the bat is up.
I buy a bat and use it for everything. I am of the opinion that BP is better for your game than “hot out of the wrapper.”

Have your favorite, be a personal..I tend to let my crew use 75% of my unused . Keep 4 personals. Let the odd person swing them.. or the ladies ;)

What exactly is the difference in design of the "M rated numbers mean"? They all have to be 1.20 for ASA, so just to understand what the differences are.

You guys should make a video just going oppo. I hit the furthest softball I'd had ever hit going oppo. Something with getting your arms extended and hitting softballs you guys would smoke em out

So I usually swing a 27.5 or 28 oz bat and was thinking of going with a monsta. Since they don’t go that heavy is it even worth purchasing?

    • @jamesreavis197
      @jamesreavis197 ปีที่แล้ว

At least for the m2 they have a slight end load feel to them. You won’t regret swinging one.

This is the best comparison by far. I have the torch but also want a sinister. Should I get the sinister? Also for USSSA should I go Louisville balanced or end load?

      You should get the sinister

you won't hate either version of the Genesis...I have all 3 models and they all perform great...now they are hard to get though so your only option would be the Genesis Marshburn with I believe a 1 ounce endload
