I am so glad I found this video. I am teaching local classes and teaching swirls. I often get questions from students who try it at home and get accelerated trace. Now, I have some places to go with them as far as advice. Thank you!

You are most welcome. Glad this will help. Just a note, it is now nearly two years after posting this video. I've kept playing around and it seems like the water content doesn't have that big influence on trace, I can't say that I can really detect a significant faster trace with less water on the batches that I've re tested up to now. I can't say that I was wrong but also can't claim that I was right either 😃

I used a red clay (of which I increased the water ratio to compensate for) and a sandalwood fragrance oil, everything was fine until I added the fragrance oil, it immediately accelerated the mixture but luckily it wasn't to bad and still set up in nicely. And smells beautiful.

Fragrance oils seems to be our nemesis, everything can be perfect but if s fragrance acts up it's just the end of velvety smooth batter. Glad you had quick hands 🌸

Fantastic invaluable information Ansa! Concise and to the point and I am always looking to slow trace as I use tallow and rice bran oil and that combination moves quick. You and I have had this conversation before and this video is fantastic to refer back to. Thank you 🙏

You are most welcome Kitty, these tips were all lessons that took me a long time to learn, I can't ever recall how many scoop and plonk soaps I've made through the years. I think the most misleading thing is the time we think we should blend with a stick blender, why it seems like minutes in the videos I have no idea, and I thought for many years that reaching a trace were compulsory. But so we learn 😄
