Format a Word Document Part 3: Cross-reference of Figures, Tables, Appendices

  • This video is the third in a series of three videos showing you how to format your Word document. This video will show you how to use the "cross-reference" function in Microsoft Office Word to link the figure/table/appendix labels to the where it is referred to in the text. Once this is done, the reader can easily navigate to the relevant table, by clicking on the reference to the table/figure/appendix label in the text.
    The previous video (part 2) will show you how to format your figure, table and appendix labels using the "insert caption" function ( • Format a Word Document... ) while the first video (part 1) shows you how to format your headings using the "multilevel lists" function ( • Format a Word Document... ). It will make your life so much easier if you watch all three of these videos (preferably in order).

    you didn't even show how you got the figures in the dialog box to start with. Mine is empty

    Why does not the cross-reference work when converting the document to pdf format?
