Sounds about like how much the dna of T-Square, Casiopea, and Yellow Magic Orchestra can be found in a lot of Japanese games up to the mid-2000s. I'll give it a "probably"
One day, 20ish years ago, my friend's younger brother, who was really into hiphop and gangsta rap, showed us a beat he made on his new station, and said he sampled Gentle Giant in it without specifying where and what. So until today, I was convinced GG was a rap thing and had zero interest. I'm actually a very casual fan of prog rock from the 70s that sounds a bit medieval so thank you!

    Well, yes, that's definitely there.
Although IMO and judging by the snippets here, that older album sounds as pleasant as a dumpster fire. Sorry but not sorry.
Try listening to the OST to Nausicaä if you haven't already for some more uncanny resemblances to the music from Chrono Trigger.

Talybont is definitely the weakest song on the album but the rest of the songs are absolutely amazing; "On Reflection" is a defining prog song, for example. Gentle Giant will forever be my favorite band.

      And Nausicaä? Great taste, indeed.
