Actually the town which Achaeans(Greeks) robbed ,there were two beautiful maidens, Chryseis and Briseis..
While the Agamemnon is the leader of the Achaeans forces, he chose Chryseis as his prize.
And Achilles chose Briseis as his prize.
When Agamemnon knows that the plague is caused by Chryseis's father Chrysis he reluctantly gives her up but then he demands Briseis from Achilles as compensation.
