In 1981, just prior to the broadcasting of his PBS show “Life on Earth,” zoologist David Attenborough discussed a vast array of topics with children and adults at Behrend College in Erie, PA. He talks about why zoos are actually important for both animals and humans, though admits that having the opportunity to sit with gorillas in their natural environment has spoiled his personal taste for zoos. He also predicts that in the future, the changes in animals would be the result of man’s manipulations, not natural selection.
