  • Richmond Park - National Nature Reserve, presented by Sir David Attenborough, is an award-winning film by conservation charity the Friends of Richmond Park. Filmed by experienced wildlife film makers (including a leading cameraman from Blue Planet II). The film won first prize in the 2018 Charity Film Awards in the 'Documentary/Long Form' category. Sir David explains in the film: “Richmond Park is not just a local park it's London's own National Nature Reserve with thousands of species of flora and fauna; but with 5.5 million visitors each year, the Park is under immense pressure. However, as visitors we can all help to protect it through simple actions so that it will remain a wonderful place for the enjoyment of future generations”.

Sir David Attenborough is a living National Treasure. This film was both beautiful and most frustrating. Why? To allow every earth walker freedom to walk dogs off-leash, to make all the noise and deposit all the litter they see as their "right"; to befoul this natural gem at their pleasure, is beyond my ability to understand. Humans will, in double-time, destroy this precious place, with not so much as a "thank you". This is hugely frustrating to me. I suppose it's the natural effluent of not being able to say "NO" in our "enlightened" world.

Thank you Bluefire films and David Attenborough - the message is so very important, if we do not pay attention we will leave a very degraded world to the grandchildren and their children. Please make more like this - we need this message given to the children in Asia and Africa and S. America as well. Miracles can be achieved by good education. How many ancient trees are now left?

The older the tree, the greater the variety of animals drawn to it.
What precious creatures are the few left beyond extinction.
I once new an oak tree in Leytonstone, London.
It was protected by the neighbours who's back gardens radiated from it.
So there, surrounded by maisonettes, mosques, shops, lived foxcubs in the roots in winter, bats in summer, spiders, frogs... the gardens brimmed and that tree was over 200 years old then...a survivor of Epping Forest.
That tree holds so much grace, story, and supports and is supported by a rich ecology.. a habitat.
So Richmond Park, Hampstead Heath, Epping Forest...such places in London are so precious and their true value will brighten in the human mind as we watch more and more loss of other animal life to the point that we revalue ourselves as animals.

Whenever I visit London I visit Richmond Park to photograph the wildlife, particularly the deer. Like other UK deer parks, there is nowhere here in Australia where such an opportunity exists. I use long lenses, move about carefully and keep a respectful distance so as not to disturb the animals. Unfortunately not all visitors show such respect, I suspect because they have little knowledge of wildlife. Richmond Park is an international treasure where people can observe and learn. Thank you David for this film about a place which is very dear to my heart.

Absolutely fantastic, we hope to encourage more conscious walkers to this beautiful part of London.
Thank you for making this film!

Well out in nature, I was always taught to "take nothing but memories, and leave nothing but footprints"

Just a great film, hard to fault it. Clearly a lot of work put into the production of the film, David Attenborough just adds to the grand tour of the park!

A fantastic film reminding us that we are so lucky to live beside this lovely Park. Also a great reminder that we and more occasional visitors need to do all we can to protect this great resource.
