Beautiful county, but yep, we were told while working launches at the Cape to not walk anywhere on the base (or Florida) as the gators and the other Florida wildlife make an excellent deterrent for bad guys at least on the Cape. Your brave, lol. Great video, thanks for sharing. Safe travels.
Hello happy campers . Thank you for sharing your wonderful nature and country. The Gators look fun good travelling from Scotland.. blessings on the road
Thanks for another great video showing our great Florida state parks! Once the weather cools off a bit we may take our trailer down there for a long weekend.
Mayaka is a gorgeous area! Love your raccoon and camp grill story. We had a raccoon get in our cooler while camping there and eat our pancake batter lol
Such fond memories and we return whenever we can. Bet those little critters have plenty of food sources year round at the park. Thank you so much for watching Sheryl !!!
Thank you so much for subscribing Marsha and thank you for watching ! We are working toward full time and look forward to making videos while exploring more of our beautiful country. Safe travels !
We lived in south Florida when I was young and my parents were both educators. So, during the summer we had plenty of time to go off camping for weeks and weeks at a time. Even during the school year we would occasionally head out on a holiday weekend. My Dad just LOVED the Florida State Park System, but in the 60's there were not as many parks as there are today to camp in. Myakka River was one of his favorites, however, and I remember once, we camped there with another family. I recall it as one of the most beautiful, most serene and peaceful places that I had ever visited in Florida. Our campground was about 3 miles from the big lake and all of the kids decided to hike over to it one day if my Dad would come get us. It turned into a 6-mile hike!! LOL!!
Sounds like great camping memories. Love Myakka River and the old Florida feel it provides. We are always happy to hear when our videos bring back memories for those that traveled before us. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for watching Geoff!
Thanks for your review of site 58! It’s SO hard to make a reservation for any site in Palmetto Ridge but today we were successful making a reservation for site 58 starting on Feb 1, 2021! Wife and dogs are doing a ‘happy dance’ in the living room . . .
So sweet of you :) We had a great trip and enjoyed the beauty of this park. Shane is doing great and working hard this summer with classes and getting used to the responsibilities of college.
Surprising that he mosquitoes were no where to be found this trip which was great :) No Zika for us this trip :) Beautiful park and well worth the trip. Thanks for watching Robert !
Great video, we were there for the 4th of July weekend and we love this park. Keep up the good work and maybe we will see you at a state park sometime.
We were there on 7/7 - 7/10 we are from Florida and live near by also. The campground you were in is a newer campground maybe 8 or 10 years old, the 2 other campgrounds are the original campsites. The old sites have partial hookups no sewer and I believe 30 amp only.. they are more suited for small campers or tents and are perfect for that although there is less privacy on those sites. We saw more deer this time and surprisingly no hogs. Didn't see as many gators because the water is up but were surprised at the lack of mosquitoes. I also think they have an infestation of bunnies because we saw a lot. We cheated a bit and took a golf cart which made going to the lake sooo much easier. The old store was the original the new one is the nice one on the stilts by the lake. There are over 600 gators in the lake full time not including what is in the streams and rivers. Also the damn was closed probably because of the high water - you two are braver than us - to many gators to take out our kayaks... But still had a great time riding around and relaxing and checking out the museum. Great video.
+Renegade Travels Thank you for the great information! Hope we get a chance to meet at one of the parks in the future. Safe travels and thank you for watching 👍
Love your videos of Florida state parks. Have you ever been to Blue Springs SP in Orange City, Fl? Was looking at it on computer and has a lot of amenities and trails and fishing.
Check out our trip video to Blue Springs State Park by clicking the link below. Beautiful park and well worth the trip :) Thank you for watching! th-cam.com/video/yhZxd_D5TiI/w-d-xo.html
Dennis, Our newest boat trial is a Hobie I14 inflatable touring kayak. Not many around the US but very popular in UK and Australia. They are a bit pricey but less than a regular kayak and they collapse into a small package so we can take it with us in the RV. We will be doing a full review soon of all the boats we have tried. Thank you for watching !
First, you didn't say whether you got your grill back from the raccoon or not. Did you? I guess I will have to go back and watch the "Adventure Begins" video. Were all the black birds clustered in that tree vultures or some water bird? Your boat is unlike any I have seen. Do the pedals turn a propeller? I really like it.
We did get the grill back LOL. Would have loved to have a video of the chase :) The black birds are vultures we believe...Spooky looking buggers. Beautiful campground, can't wait to get there. Did you catch any fish?
We were unable to catch fish on this trip because the gator kept them at bay :) Let us know if you have any luck. Thank you for watching !

Average Campers' Adventures I look forward to the video review!
Beautiful park but to many Gators for our liking.
There are many.... Very interesting to watch but, they can be a bit unsettling for some campers. Thanks for watching Rafael !
