Masato vs Buakaw in one of the great K-1 Max fights. From the Budokan Arena in Tokyo, with "The Voice" Michael Schiavello, Ray Sefo and Mike Bernardo commentating live.
One of the greatest fights in K-1 history. never gets old. what makes this Masato performance so great is that after Buakaws 06 tourney win(being the first to win the K-1 MAX title twice) everyone was terrified of him..but then Masato comes along and puts on a clinic that most fans thought impossible. classic
I'm a big buakaw fan, this fight in the begining made me mad but after I really watched it and took great notice at the boxing skill of Masato I've realized he really did have the edge with his hands and Buakaw needs better head movement and hand skills
great fight, one of my favs. buakaw was definitely punishing with those leg kicks, as masato was with his hooks and uppers. buakaw got a little overambitious in the 3rd round when he tried to box with masato. really risky move, as masato's the most skilled counter puncher in the max, and it came back to haunt him.
I don't know who do I like more :) The boxing skills of Masato and that hyper insane speed.. Or the kicking skills of Buakaw and that abnormal power behind every one of them.. They are both amazing fighters! Both on my top 5 list.. But not on the first place xD
the real difference is in this fight versus the rematch, was masato's boxing. He used alot of his jab and put more combo's together. Also Buakaw strayed from the front kick which is what helped him alot in the first bout. both men are K-1 legends.
on their last fight Masato got an extra round (still lost) because the refs favoured him, buakaw was dominating, this time though masato dominated the fight, its obvious he worked really hard for this fight, had a strategy (buakaw's defense after attacking is open for uppercuts) landed clean shots early on the fight not leting him get his rythm, its actually one of his best fights against a top opponent (who didnt seem being at his best though) atrixospithikos πριν από 4 λεπτά
Everyone says that; but whenever a fighter enters a ring his trainer says "play your game not your opponents" Its not Buakaw's lack of skills that made him play Masato's game, but Masato's skill!
Wow, I learned something today. Thanks for the info. It looks like Buakaw is punching damn hard, he throws turns almost fully at the shoulder. In TKD we have a similar philosophy on penetration , but obviously ours are targeted exclusively with the foot, and rely more on speed on placement with the smaller area of the heel or ball of the foot (much harder to do right than with the shin). I try a lot of shin kicking techniques I see because I think they work and its good to not be limited.
i think ive admitted that masato's style is perfectly K-1 oriented. though i think hes had help along the way with judging bias and rule change/ "enforcements" Buakaw will always be my favorite fighter though
he's taking more shots than an alcoholic, he's got more crosses than the vatican, clash of heads described as a liverpool kiss :) this fight was epic but the commentary was legendary! the THE BIG KABUSH x2 classic
wow. i think they should add more rounds. masato learned from their last fight and remained the dominator on this one. but i could kinda see the leg kicks were kicking in but frustration took over buakaw form so much punches. damn! rematch! more rounds and throw in elbows!
Masato won that. He came in with the right strategy and pulled it off. Everyone knows that Buakaw's not as good when defending against quick combinations to the head. Close fight, but Masato clearly took that with cleaner landed shots.
I agree big time man.I like and respect UFC but K1 has so much more action in it cause the fighters are constantly on there toes and you can see how a fighter is actually defeated.
"Buakaw is taking more shots than an alcoholic!" LOL This commentator is hilarious. Brilliant fight from Masato. I'm surprised Buakaw didn't throw as many push kicks, though.
if bukaw would have stick to his kicking skills he i think he could have won this but Masato lured him to a boxing game his game...and boyy he got some nasty skills i would love to steal :) thoese combos are brutal
TheTerrorist.. "fully at the shoulder" Yes, in MT we always try to put maximum body weight behind our punches, so your shoulder comes in after. The TKD heel can be harder than the shin when it comes to a focused area (it works like MTs knees), but the shin works more like a baseball bat side swipe as opposed to the focused heel that is more like a punch with the handle (if you can understand my weird simile) But the ball of foot is not harder; the shin is a solid bone, the foot many bones.
People keep explaining that Buakaw had success with front kick in the first and there is suspicion he didn't use them here. Fact: Masato had gone through war with Kraus. Masato didn't want to fight because he was hurting. He came in with no stamina, so naturally he was slow to react. This second time they were bot fresh and we saw them at their best and Masato won. Fact: Buakaw had lost to Souwer because lack of punches so he train excessively in bettering his hands just Masato won
damn, love buakaw, but superb boxing by masato won him over. masato, leans forward with weight on front foot giving him a lot more boxing range and speed. the k1 rules only allow 1 knee per clinch,no elbows, no knees to head, effectively sapping away buakaw's mid range advantage and skills. tragic. but buakaw's has trained a lot in boxing and much better skilled recently. kudos to both fighters.
I'm not sure exactly who I want to win the Max GP this year. Because the winner faces Masato at Dynamite. I'd love to see another fight between Buakaw and masato but at the same time I'd really like to see Giorgio Petrosyan fight him because this will be Masato's final fight and I'd love to see them fight at least once....BTW yes I am picking Buakaw to beat Andy Souwer
The Terror.. get a concussion from a leg kick" Yes you can. I don't know how many times I have been hit in my thighs, and felt both my brain and teeth rattle. It is a matter of HOW you transfer the energy into your opponent. In MT, almost no energy is used up trying to strike "thru" the opponent. We stop 2-4 cm after making contact in order to transfer maximum energy, plus that we also are grounded. Buakaw isn't really punching hard, but it looks a lot harder since he is using this technique.
If Masato's legs were flying then that means it isn't a very damaging kick. It is a nasty leg kick if his foot is on the ground when being kicked and stays on the ground through the kick.
1. i didnt say every punch he throws is weak, but his general strategy is to throw as many quick short (weak) strikes as possible to rack up points 2. it doesnt take much to knock someone down when they're on 1 leg
What I was referring to and thought you were was the kick at 00:43. I still don't think the tane-gwad-lann you are referring to would do as much damage as the uppercut straight Masato hit him with. Hard shots to the head are always more worrisome than those to the head. A leg kick wears a fighter down and hurts long after the fight, but punches like what Masato hit him with at rattle the brain. Buakaw is a power fighter, so it makes sense that from a MT perspective you think Masato hits light
Ryu's theme starts at 2:56 When corruption fails to interfere with a fight, we get the truth. Baukaw was fucking rattled and mentally broken, the one weakness he has "Emotional Damage"
SO true, see what your saying,it shows a clear sign of prejudice. Buki let out some good kicks and punches and not comment and anything that Masato does get appluase, japanese fans can be so prejudice at times. I prefer cheering for both and may the best man wins.
i'll admit in the last round masato was able to goad buakaw into a punching war and made him look quite ameturish, but buakaw inflicted the most damage in the first 2 rounds, in fact thats why masato lost to souwer in his next fight
petrosyans looking strong, hes already beat kraus and souwer. i dont know much about the other new commers, but like you said kyshenko needs to work on energy conservation a lil more. I think petrosyan has the right combination of skills to take it, and even masato
Who won the fight? Is there another round or another video on here??? At the end of this video Masato definitely won the fight... but, is there more???

Masato is unreal with his hands! Just lightning fast!

I have to say.. this is one HELL of a fight. Worth every second.
Masato's combinations are so fluid and lightning fast! It's like watching a movie, only better
Don't talk any shit guys. Buakaw was not bribed. Masato won because his superiority in boxing. His had picked a good game plan for the fight.
Thanks
thanx for the video ...i can't believe is in english the comentary ;))

The real difference was also the modified rules to take away buakaws strength. Let’s not ignore that.

comeback of the century, masato did good. He was untterly humiliated in their first meeting

Here's just one word for: art
Bukaw vs misato The best fight videos in the world..!!!
Masato would do well in mma with his striking. He's one of those kickboxers that can also box and his style would translate well in the ufc.
Масатов Браво достойное сопротивление Привет из Узбекистана
Imagine someone having the hand combos of masato and the kicks of buakaw. haha beast

Good fight. Masato overwhelming Buakaw with combinations and snapping his head back with slick uppercuts.
he throws every punch with power. he's definitely the hardest hitting japanese fighter. short doesn't mean weak...
The commentator is Michael Shiavello. He's from Fox sports and i reckon he's awesome. Hilarious when hes with Mark castagnini.
I agree big time man.I like and respect UFC but K1 has so much more action in it cause the fighters are constantly on there toes and you can see how a fighter is actually defeated.
Buakaw is the legend! Best!

I quite agree, Masato was looked very tired at the end, Buakaw not nearly as much
he does. look it up

Schiavello🎤 "Davis Camon !!!!"
is this the first fight between masato and buakaw?
The cleverest thing about Masato: retire early to AVOID facing The DOCTOR.
has a rule changed about clinching and throwing knees?
Masato put him on his ass like a boss. Masato is a true legend in every way ;)
Kaenorsing is the fighters gym. I'm assuming you are talking about Koaklai. He is almost 30 pounds heavier than Masato.
