Jason has a very clear way to articulate and a knack to explain across to the viewer. Each of his tutorials are much more authentic than any other channel that I have seen on TH-cam.
Excellent presentation. This is the most common sense approach to baas set up I've seen yet. After all, he's with Fedora, one of the premier instrument makers there is.
Wow, excellent vid. Exactly the information I was looking for on pickup height adjusting and just what can be achieved according individual desire. Thanks a mil for the crystal clear explanation.
Hey! I just saw this video on Scott Bass Lessons Website. But I wanted to check you here at youtube to give you a thumbs up and subscribe, because this vid is REALLY great! You are explaining all critical facts and now I understood it all. Pretty cool! Thanks so much!!!
Ah..I forgot a little question: Is it okay that on my Jazz Bass (passive) the sound significantly becomes dull when both pickups are at equal level? I guess that could be due to the hum cancelling physics, but is this so strong that I loose so much of the heights (treble) ??? If so, I guess these pickups are not good to use and I have to get new ones that don't behave so, or not?
Awsome videos, my ears or brain have much trouble to put the info in use. Guess i need to practice more with my eyes shut to make myself familiar in this maze. Cheers
Great video. I turned to release the screws on my pickup, but the pickup doesn't "stay" up at the top of the new screw height. Is there something I gotta do to get it to stay up? Should I be able to push the pickup down?
Some P-bass pickups don’t adjust with the screws on the side! I have an older (1980-ish) bass with DiMarzio model P pickups, and the screws don’t adjust the pickup height. In fact, the individual pole pieces on the pickup are threaded, and have a hex (Allen) screw head!
What's your opinion on bridge positions? I am building a 34" scale bass/20 frets with 2 Seymour Duncan P-Bass Actives! I would like your opinion on placing them at the 24th and 36th fret positions!
So, he's basically saying the "tone" aspect comes from the height of bridge PUP in relation to height of neck PUP (due to their volumes). He didn't mention tone being affected individually by pickup height alone. Interesting.
beautiful bass. is adjusting the action on a bass something one can do without experience?? the shop i go to indicated i would be without my bass for a week or so, and i don't have a 2nd bass.
Hello the Best firm - Fodera! Please. Tell me. 1) What action between Low String ( B ) and Neck Pickup and Bridge Pickup??? 2) What action between String ( G ) and Neck Pickup and Bridge Pickup??? Please in mm... Thank You for understanding!!! God's blessings for You!!!

I had a Schecter bass shipped to me with pickups that were at incredibly varying heights, wish I found this video then
Best video I've found about pickups height!
Thank you for this. My new Spector has a very hot output and I'm going to adjust the pickups to try and remedy that.
Very clear and informative
but I like margerie's setup preferences

Replace the sponge under the pickup, or better still replace the sponge with springs on the screws, hope this helps
Yeah, needs new foam.
Great informative video, Thank you!
Wow ,.,. This really enlightened me,. Thanks
Nice one!
Great video. But what is "too near" magnetically? What is the least pup height that won't kill the vibrations?
Depends on what strings you have.
Woah woah woah, we don’t say “pups”🤮

What bass is that?
To get less buzz, anything to with pickup height?
Buzz comes from the strings. Typically the frets from either to aggressive playing or to low of action.
Thanks for good advice! Nice bass btw!
Mine has a static popping sound when playing. Is it the pickups? Strings too low?
have the same question
Sounds like the pups are to high.
No. It's just not a Fodera.
That was very helpful..thank you..👍
Well explained, thanks.

Your cheapest bass is 4.450$ and they go up to 20.450$, for that price I expect the basses to set them selves up
Best line...it's not witchcraft
Yes it’s sound not majic
onb
That was very helpful! Thanks!
