I find no scare tactics in this video at all. She very clearly states that the uninterrupted time is ONLY in instances when baby is healthy and that there are times when separation will be necessary. Also, in researching the training modules she has one specifically for situations where you have to be separated from baby during the first 3 hours. I plan on using this method, as I do not know ONE woman (NOT ONE) who has not had difficulty or pain while breastfeeding, and most who I know had to give up because of it. I don’t want to give up, and am so excited to learn.
I’m a certified Lactation Counselor and birth doula, and this is such valuable information, extremely helpful. You are so right when you mention that babies should have uninterrupted time at the breast. I see it all the time where the nurses grab the baby from the mother only to be placed on a cold scale for a weight check, and then to be stabbed in the thigh with a vitamin K shot, finally the baby gets handed back to the mother screaming and crying hard to settle down. Of course, the poor thing won’t latch.
I agree with your statement. I started watching some of these hospital births and they are cold, mechanical way for the baby's experience in this world. Especially those horrific videos from India, they just leave that poor baby on a counter uncovered, no blanket, just making sure they're getting their video. This is a much better way to give birth for both mom and baby.
I'm expecting with my second child and recently heard of vitamin K. My first born is 9 and I do not recall him having one or being asked to have one. Could you advise if this is necessary for the baby and whether permission has to be obtained by parents? Thank you
So glad I found this video. My baby is two weeks old and I’ve been having trouble with feeding. My nipples are so sore. I tried the technique I saw in the video and it was an instant relief. I knew he wasn’t getting enough milk so I’ve been supplementing formula. Hopefully after this it should be a breeze.
I had my 1st baby 1400 gm 43 years ago and successfully breast fed her including the 6 weeks she was in hospital. Now this baby after multiple miscarriages is having her 1 st baby on 12/3/24. She is a fan of your work and says you are wonderfully inspiring and she is full of confidence. Watch this space
So glad I found this video. I had a little girl almost three years ago and had so much nipple trauma and damage by the time I left the hospital because they taught me the forceful method that I stopped after 4 days. The lactation consultant I saw in the hospital said the blisters and everything else going on was normal and to keep going. My husband and myself are trying for our second baby and I’m happy I found this info and videos
Im 24 weeks and doing lots of research. I trusted the system prior to watching this video and now I’m a bit nervous 😬 I’m an endometriosis patient and I know what it’s like to stand up for your Individual wants and desires regarding course of treatment to medical professionals who want to take control and steer your care in a different direction. Definitely will be taking these classes to ensure I’m as informed as possible going into the maternity ward🤞🏻
I wish I knew this 40 years ago, My son got jaundice when he was 4 days old, doctor told me not to breastfeed him, it was very difficult time for both of us.
I'm so sorry that you and your wife experienced this. Hospital policies, procedures and systems are not set up to be in the best interests of mothers and babies, and it needs to change. It's also placing pressure on those health professionals working within the system to adhere to unreasonable time constraints. Sadly, the ones who suffer the most are the mothers, their babies and their partners. Stories like yours inspire us to continue sharing Dr Robyn's information, so that more women know and understand their rights, when choosing to give birth in the hospital system. I truly hope you are all okay. Warm regards, Marie - Team member 💗
Genuinely asking, is this video saying that in order to achieve this 3 golden hour plan, one must have a totally and completely natural birth, including not having an epidural or spinal anesthetic?
@shelbibutler, thanks for your comment. It's a good question. Just to clarify, Dr Robyn encourages women to understand the importance of avoiding 'unnecessary' interventions. There will be times when medical intervention is required, but for most women, it is not necessary. Any intervention (including epidural and spinal anesthetics) increases the risk of complications, but it's certainly not inevitable. Many women have breastfed successfully after an epidural. It's about sharing information, so that women have the knowledge to make informed decisions, during their pregnancy, labour and birth to help reduce the risk of complications with breastfeeding. Warm regards, Marie - Team Member
I don't think so. I had a baby in the Netherlands with a very 'crunchy' midwife. But still ended up being induced, having two epidurals and finally ending in a C-section. But the midwife still implemented this kind of thing afterwards and helped me to latch in a way that is similar to this method. I had no pain, or problems of any kind breastfeeding. I'm hoping the next will be the same.
Not helpful for mamas who had baby have to go to the NICU immediately for life saving. Makes me sad honestly, would be nice if you honoured these unique and challenging circumstances in your introduction.

So true. It's so sad how some babies are treated. Very traumatizing.
Determined to be the most informed I can so I can take this information with me when I have my 3rd c section.
very interesting so glad I found this video before giving birth to my first 😊❤️

You aren't sharing this information. You are selling this information.
I would like at least one useful tip, before purchasing a course. Some benefit.. :(

How do you make sure the 3 golden hours after birth aren’t interrupted?
Will I be heard with a written up birth plan?
