Are you wondering what is this new mysterious lever used by Kart Republic on some of its KZ karts at Lonato's World Championship?
Here's the explanation from KR's Dino Chiesa in The RaceBox's Technical Innovation Report, recorded at South Garda Karting, host of the 2020 FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 and the third round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy from October 2nd to 4th.

I think this was what caused Mirko to botch his pass in the final. It looked he missed a shift, but I think he was trying to release the system and missed the shift at the same time.
Really cool system though and this is why Dino is the best in the biz.

IF (and only IF) that was what happened, it's not the fault of the system, it's the fault of the driver making a mistake while using the system.
Nobody forced someone to use it, he chose to run it, and he chose to actually use it.
Regardless, won't speculate on the specific incident, it's a very smart system.

The problem with karting is they're very anti-innovation.

You don’t need it to win and this is only for KZ1 so only European/world champs

Yeah you need it, because if the condition on the track changes, you can set it up like you need. Definitely goog but need more development

Indeed you don't need it to win, but it could help you win. It's also for KZ2 pending clarifications on the homologation.
As Dino told us, when homologated - or given the all clear by the FIA - they would like to bring it to the market and it could run any shifter category.

Right now Kart Republic isn’t really doing that much better than BirelArt in the KZ category and BirelArt, as you know, has none of that going on... Will it help? Only on the hands of a great driver.

@@p.c.h.6721 does that mean that this is not a good innovation, or that teams should not innovate?
Let's not confuse the "factory" department, the "research and development", with the on-track result of "the racing team" on a very specific category.
This is an idea that applies to the entire Kart Republic brand, all KZ2 chassis, if it gets the green light to go to production. It's very much as innovative and impactful to karting as OTK's curved nose panel for example, which didn't - just by itself - bring victories to Tony Kart, but impacted the aerodynamic performance of the kart!
