This is awesome. I just built my first Shield this past week. Think if I get it put to good use I'll have to give one of these a go! Noted in your git repo that it has a midi hardware switch. Are you pulling midi from the 3.5mm jack on the side? What kind of adapter are you using? Nice work!
Hardware MIDI functionality is only on shieldXL - it's got its own TRS 3.5mm jacks on the shieldXL board and is wired directly to the appropriate pins on the pi.
What is this project? The youtube algorithm randomly decided I needed to see it and googling shieldxl returns power strips and pistol sights.
