I would always offer to pay my share, if not the full bill. Actually, quite frankly I feel really weird if I don't pay for mine - I don't expect a man to have to use his hard earned money on me when he's just trying to get to know me.

She was already turned off that he had 10 kids you could tell when she went to the lavatory and told her friend on the phone, inferring that she thought that's unattractive to date a man with that many kids. The point is, she should at least offer and pay her half since she doesn't even want to see him again. She just wants special treatment and is a total noncompassionate person. She's not a high value woman, it's obvious how she treats people!

What I don’t get is why the producers of the show don’t cover the bills, they wouldn’t have a show without the couples. So why not provide them all the services?

How the 2 daters react to paying the bill is part of the storyline. It can say a lot about a person.
Both daters get a stipend but rarely stay within their budget, plus it’s an expensive restaurant. It’s true though: they should pay for the daters’ meals, but i guess it’s interesting to see how they deal with getting that check.

The man with 10 kids - he had a mood change after seeing the bill. And no wonder! It was probably 200 pounds. I agree with him 100%, women preach about equal rights and equal pay etc, but most don't want to pay half of the bill - let alone the whole bill... If a woman ever offers to pay, it's only for their own half. If women wants equal rights, then it should go the WHOLE way - not just pick and choose what fits them the best....

The man with the 10 kids, yes there's lots of information out there and he could have made it clear at the beginning. He's also on a date, so he would know there's going to be money spent. It's interesting how people love to pretend that every woman is a feminist. Which is an absolute lie. Beware of the men that promote this propaganda as if it's all women. I guess father of 10 so much about equality that his ex- wife gave birth to 5 of the children & he gave birth to 5 of the children. Maybe they should have given a care to how many children that they can afford. You could also see him himself up a little bit about having 10 children and he was condescending towards her about having one. As if he's the one who gave birth to all of them. Of course that doesn't mean that he's not a good father.
Instead of a first date dinner, then how about a first date coffee/tea. To see if you even like someone enough to buy them dinner. Even for a Dutch dinner maybe no one wants to spend time with someone they only kind of sort of like.
The daytime coffee/tea date will also the guy to communicate that he wants her to pay for the whole meal or to go Dutch. And if she's not okay with that she has the right to decline. This will help him find the right lady for him with very little money spent.
That being said he at least knows that this isn't the woman for him. And maybe next time he can clarify what he wants. So he wants a woman who will pay her own way, and a woman who will take care of his children.

First dates should exactly be therapy (somewhat). There is a real bond to be made when two people open themselves up and can communicate and help each other on things they normally keep hidden. It can make for a very deep connection even at the beginning of a relationship.

Her manipulation chat when it came time to pay the bill was sickening, trying to placate the situation and make him feel better about having to stump up for the bill because 'it's nice for you to have a bit of me time' - very awkward to watch. I've always said, the right thing to do on this show is to always half the bill - both parties are there to test one another out, have an experience and maybe find love if they're lucky - this should not cost one more than the other - it's an equal shot at an experience. What baffles me more is the people who sit back, let the man pay the bill while they already know they don't want to see him again and will never return the favour for dinner, these type of people are just awful.
