Guess I was a respected lone wolf, although I never thought about it like that. Did over 16 years and now I’m out. If you show respect and look out for people’s hustles when you can, you shouldn’t have too many problems. And even though I changed my ways and turned my life over to God, I never lost the respect of my peers because I stayed true to myself.

And men and women were also divided. But all these mfs would have wanna be gang fights. (Just dumbass teenagers jumping each other during basketball). But I feel like I learned a lot about being a man there. Funny enough after I quit wrestling for the school cuz they drug tested me. They had a boxing program that I was doing at the alternative. God is Good and has been good to you. You're still here.. My motivation for serving in Kairos was based on my best buddy's older bro- Scott, who did 6 separate bids totaling 21yrs in his 46 yrs on the earth.. he'd be in and back out, in and back out- he could never adjust and he ended it back in 2011 in his cel if you follow..RIP- so seeing your positivity, and sharing your know how on living on the inside, and giving back on coping on the outside is real.. a real kind of real, you know what I mean... What if you're quiet and shy, but you're not afraid to fight? Would I still make it? That's just social anxiety for me. I'm quiet and shy on the outside too. I keep to myself, it's who I am. But I can fight if I need to, and I'm far from physically weak. But I don't know if I have the mental fortitude for prison. Every time I see an ex con they have this overwhelming sense of dominance about them. Again, very respectful as you said, you can just seeing it in their eyes, hear it in their voice, they aren't one to be fucked with... I don't have fear of fighting, and will stand up for myself. But I don't have that look in my eye or that way about me yet... Maybe I wouldn't last. Guess I should stay out of trouble.

There's some good people in there that just made a dumb choice to get there like me, you just have to figure out who's who and stay away from the guys who live to get into shit. That's what I was worried about. I wasn't worried about fights or getting killed, I can hold my own, I just wanted out of prison and to not look back. In Ohio almost nothing gets handled in house. You catch a new case for everything if you're getting into shit. I met one dude in the yard that came in for a 6 month bit in the beginning but hadn't seen the outs in 7 years because he couldn't stay out of trouble. I wasn't interested in that at all.

The guard see me they try to make jokes I am not getting up to let you out of the room or one even try to take his handcuffs out in front of me. The inmates even get so excited to see me when I walk down the hallway. Inmates say good morning how are you doing. I work in a CM camp. If an inmate is being nice, he’s got a plan.
Respect from inmates is them doing what they are expected to do. I’ve been on the job a while and have never had an inmate attempt to be nice. Probably my demeanor. I’m fair, firm and consistent and I don’t give them shit unless they deserve it, or the rare occasion one needs it to brighten his day.
The guards don’t respect you because they probably think you’re dirty. Anyone the inmates like is either a target to them, or a pending investigation to the COs. Might wanna check that.

@@shawnm2113 What I was told by my supervisor is that some of CO's feel that its useless to have these educational programs that build critical thinking. So the relationship is more political. There is a waiting list to get into my classes because they are cap at 14 students. There are 200 inmates participating in the program and 50 just graduated are working in manufacturing positions. Imates upon release will be granted admission to the colleges and graduate with an associate's degree. Upon leaving for vacation the warden of the prision gave me hung saying after inmates take my classes they behave much better and have better work ethics. So far with my states college program and other Rehabilitation programs the state was able to reduce the prison population from 28000 inmates down to 13000 inmates in 3 years. And by offering reintegration services we keep tabs on inmates to make sure that they stay employed and have housing so that they do not return back to prison.

you never know even if you are good person. For example some people get drunk and drive. They dont want to kill people, they just want to bring their car home and not pay for taxi. Of course driving drunk is bad. But not as bad as killing people intentionally. And you are still probably in same jail with those psychopaths who kill intentionally. Or even if you dont drink, but fall asleep behind wheel and kill somebody in a crash. Not sure how then - do you get in jail or not. Hopefully not. Or sometimes innocent people are put to jail like some bitch called the police that you fucked her without her persmission. But actually she wanted you to fuck her. I have read one coach who was in jail for few months because of this. And it turned out he was innocent in the end. But still had to spend few months in jail with those psychopaths. So unfair. Plus I guess jail is similar to army. Of course in army bit better. And if there is war, you might be taken to army for example.

When another kid said something super provoking to get a rise I would joke it off but when one guy took it too far during downtime I knew that I would lose face with other guys if I didn't do nothing cuz he threw a ball at my face hard so I decided to try and make a point and confronted him about it. intentionally got up close to do it, put my forehead down and got the attitude ready. Half way thru his rebuttal he said we can go right- I suckersmacked him mid sentence squared up n stepped back. never had a fight after that but I knew other people in there could have busted me up at anytime so I had to stay on point really stressful

Fresh off the street, possibly dealing with withdrawals (alcohol, nicotine for me), and a form of culture shock can be a fucking anchor for about 2 weeks. If you haven't adapted in all that time in county though, you better figure out something quick.

I think the key to being a successful lone wolf is knowing yourself well and not being afraid to die or get hurt for what you think is right about you; in the same vein, never compromise your identity because then you don't have one. So, in conclusion, form your identity, be ready to die for the things you believe in about yourself. Additionally, do not judge others, even in your subconscious mind; people sense it when you judge them. Show empathy for EVERYONE around. Your default preconceived notion about people, in general, should be empathy. Sympathy is different. Only if you truly sympathize with someone then consider being their friend, otherwise, you would be just lying to yourself. Even in sympathy, sometimes commons sense tells you to remain on your own. But becoming truly empathetic is a survival mechanism, I've seen it work well for life in or out of prison.

In prison I was a lone wolf. When I was in Santa Rosa State Pennitentry in New Mexico, I will admit several times I was approached by the two main gangs that ran that prison. They came into my cell and immediately I jumped up out of my bunk where I was kicking back reading a book. The main shot caller in that block was among them and they were all brandishing shanks. I immediately pulled mine out and my adrenaline and fear factor was through the roof. I knew if this guy gave the order, the other 10+ soldiers were going to do me in. Well the shot caller started asking me questions to see if I was an undercover slipped in there to gather information about what was going on. He then asked me where I was from, what my charges were, even trying to trick me up on some of them. He proceeded to tell me that from the moment I came in to that block, he could tell this wasn't my first rodeo. Though I was scared I looked him dead in the eyes on some of the things he was interrogating me about.
Remember guys, eye contact is a big thing in prison especially in a situation like this. I simply stated, I ain't no f n cop, I ain't a rat, and I don't say too much to anyone, and then I took a chance. Remember that saying you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Well in prison you really don't. Realizing fully that he could have released his dogs at any time. I looked them over and gave them my version of the old scarface talk, saying listen man, I ain't never fucked over anyone in my life that didn't have it coming. My word is all I got in this world and I don't break it for no one. I came into this place alone, and God willing I'll walk out alone, but if any of you motherfuckers wants a piece of me then come on let's get it over with you all are going to get me in a rush but I'm going to take a few of you with me. I readied myself for whatever watching and sizing up the situation to see what advantages I might be able to use to my advantage. Then the Mero Mero, says to me, your a brave man, and I can tell a liar as seen as they start talking. There was no lie in you, and you looked me right back in the eye and really to be honest with you especially those who know me will never do that shit and I respect that about you. We've watched you play some cards and chess, listened to some of your conversations and I can tell your a smart guy. Anyway nothing personal we just wanted to see and check you to see what you were all about, too many snitches and undercovers out their you know. Yes I do. He then came and gave me names of known narcs in case I ever wondered into one of them. He shook my hand like the way him and his homies shook each other's hands, and then said this to me, we're cool bro and if you ever need anything come to us and we'll do business, or you start catching any flack from them punks, come join with us and you don' have to worry about that shit again. You can finish your time not having to look behind your back. Yea right, had he corosed me to join them I'd still be in jail or prison. Nothings for free in the joint and believe me don't ever take anything on a front, and if you do pay as quickly as possible. Don't get hooked on drugs and rack up gambling debts and drug debts. If your hurting that day and you don't get your shit for a few days to buy. DON'T FRONT, just don't do it. Go through some withdrawal if you can't pay. You think your hurting then, wait till they finish with their punishment on you for not paying. Anyway don't do stupid shit when you have your freedom. Boy, talk about you never miss it till it's got away, it's sad. This is a good channel to listen to and learn some important things especially If it is the first instance where your going to do time. Also very good on why you don't want to ever ruin your life and go there in the first place. Great Video and to everyone, strive to do better for you and others. Thanks.

Hey Death, I'm sorry if this gets long, but I really hope that you reply, as well as others here that have spent significant time behind bars. I've been watching your content for a few months now. I'm not a convict or some major criminal, just a dude. I don't consider myself a sheep (prey), but I wouldn't call myself a wolf (predator) either, I am something in between and I have a pretty keen sense of right and wrong. I am a concealed firearm carrier with a natural protective instinct, but I am not a violent guy at all, I just feel the need to protect the weak and vulnerable. I am scared to death (no pun intended) of being forced into a situation when I have to use my firearm or something else to protect my family or home, because of the way our justice system is. I hear cases all the time of men being locked up for using brutal force against intruders trying to do them harm or innocent people being sent away for nothing at all, just wrong place wrong time type situations. That stuff scares me. My question is this. How would you gauge the moral compass of inmates in the system, in general? Are the vast majority of inmates the sadistic, violent predators that I envision or do they actually exhibit some measure of compassion and common sense? I am a lone wolf, I'm definitely an introvert and I naturally do not gravitate toward cliques and I rarely feel the need to get close to people, I just like to be in my own head a lot and mind my own business. I tend to go out of my way to avoid drama and conflict, but I can defend myself if I have to. Anyway, I'll cut this comment off now, I just would like to get an idea of what kind of problems I would be facing if something went wrong and got locked up and whether or not there are many sensible and halfway compassionate inmates in a typical jail or prison. Thank you brother and I really enjoy your material, this stuff is a very good resource to people that have never had to spend time and I appreciate what you do.

On my first offence I was what you’d call a scared lone wolf but survived just fine because I got respect which is much better to have than fear. Fear is easy to get, respect is earned.

Have you watched any movies or shows about prison?? Which ones do you think are the most realistic?

That's tuff because almost all of them tend to embellish and dramatize it a lot but 60 days in is the realest view of jail lockup in my eyes

Theres nothing cooler than being a lone wolf. except at wolf pick nicks when you dont have a partner for the wolf wheel barrel races.
That Felon movie was pretty tight btw!

I once knew an ex-con who was a loner that did 12 years in CA. He told me in the beginning, that he was singled out as an easy mark, not just because he kept to himself, but that he was overweight and he was in his late 40s. He was beat up so often by gangs, then one day he just snapped. He made a cocktail of his own feces with urine, then came back out yelling like a crazed lunatic and started chasing and pelting his assailants with it and anybody that came near him. The tactic apparently worked, because everyone scattered like cockroaches in an effort to get away, until the cops rushed out with CS, tasers & subdued him and some of the gangsters. He was put into solitary, but he knew he was a dead man for covering those gangbangers with shit, so he just kept up with acting the crazy man and was smearing his feces on the door & porthole of his cell. He was then put into the psych ward for nearly the remainder of his sentence, before he was transferred to a minimum security facility.
What this guy did was crazy for sure, but when I talked to him after he's been out for several years, I was not convinced that he actually was. What did convince me, was that he did it out of survival, because he knew there was no way he was going to survive if he did nothing.

Damn thats smart if I ever go to prison and can't fit in I'll just do the same thing now people will say oh but you don't wanna do that because solitary will genuinely make you mentally insane but like if I knew that staying in that place alone is rhe only way I survive my sentence hell yeah I'll do it and gladly go mentally insane for it

I seen this movie many times. Tom Sellek was a lone wolf but ended up with other lone wolf's who were killers when shit went down and if you seen the movie nobody fucked with them. They looked out for each other.
