Tutenkhamun's death mask must be one of the most iconic and beautiful pieces of human art in existence, the physical embodiment of a time in history we can only try to imagine... yet the King's beard has been snapped off by bumbling idiots. I remember watching a TV documentary by John Romer, and part of the documentary focused on the shocking treatment ancient Egyptian artifacts receive at the hands of their so called 'curators'. The museum staff have caused more harm than good, and this is the worst example I've heard of. Egypt does not know what it has! I hope the remainder of undiscovered artifacts that lay hidden in Egypt stay undiscovered, simply to protect them from damage. They are safer in the ground. This problem is not unique to Egypt. Recently in the United States some other bumbling charlatans caused the breakage of a hundreds of years old statue of Adam. The wooden plinth they built for it to stand on was not strong enough and it crashed to the floor, smashing into hundreds of pieces. Whether it's parts of The Terracotta Army being chipped in transit on a touring exhibition or an ancient Chinese vase being smashed by an unruly child in a museum... I say:- "Protect ancient artifacts from museums!"
