Oh, and I know why you were burning thru the battery so fast, you likely had the IBIS set to the default "continuous" setting... I saw this issue too, so switched to Shooting Only (or something like that) and found NO reduction in IBIS performance, but battery life went thru the roof, so that should help out!
Nice video man! I think the best reply I have to the question “why are you taking (their) photographs” is “I’m working”. Heard it from a friend and thought it was the most spot on response I’d heard.
2:43 honestly appreciate that moment. Just good to know that we all have those moments where we think something could work/look good, but it turns out complete junk.
Watching these videos reminds me of old dogs, ponies and tricks. When I was 10 my father gave me a camera and taught me the sunny 16 rule. That was it and since then I have only done photography on my own. I discovered you tube in 2020 due to boredom through covid lockdowns, virginity broken but my geriatric brain is still reminded of old dogs, ponies and tricks. Thanks anyway for your good advice!
I've had the locking up problem with my very early X100VI as well. It went back to be looked at a fortnight ago, and was sent on to Fujifilm by the retailer who confirmed the problem. I still don't have it back. It sounds like a common problem. Oh, and it doubled the shutter count when shooting in RAW + HEIC, too. Weird.
Having a lot of the same issues with missing focus. Took a shot and got a VI just before coming to Rome. There are just too many subjects for the ai to focus on here. I was getting about 1 in 5 in focus on the couple of test runs I went on before coming but I'm constantly trying new settings out to find one that works better. Fingers crossed I'll have some good shots at the end of the week but it feels more like luck than design. Hopefully some firmware will make focus more reliable soon.
This is what I mean, it feels like I am being gaslit by the camera ahaha. With no other camera am I TRYYIINGGG to figure out how to get it to focus... What have you found to work the best?
Be interested to hear your thoughts on sharpness. I thought it’s a bit soft. It’s my first x100 and I’m enjoying using it but not bowled over. Focus is hit and miss for sure. It’s too clever and can’t keep up with itself and especially tracking it confirms focus but hasn’t really locked.
It’s hard to top the V. I agree that the IBIS and 40mp are nice to haves, but not essential. It’s hard to tell the difference between a photo taken on the V or the VI if you’re only really posting on social media. Good insights again JP 👏🏼
Guess it offers the possibility to use digital zoom (or crop) better, 50mm equivalent still gives 20 MP files. But still waiting for my VI in The Netherlands…
@@Mw02veg I was referring to the poor auto focus on the Fujifilm. Snap focus is really handy. I am a fujfilm owner too, I usually use single point focus or manual lenses. It wasnt intended as a swipe at Fujifilm, as I would love a EVF on my Ricoh.
Hi James. I've owned the vi since launch. Experienced the same focus issues...even after the most recent firmware update...front or back focus even if camera has indicated focus lock. Frustrating...never had these issues with any of my other fujis....including the v.
There is a blue chrome setting you can play with that enhances blue in camera.. but I don't think he mentioned the film sim.. it looks like provia or something neutral.
The touch screen is so annoying. I use my left eye and when looking through the eye peace my nose will change the fucus point. Would love to use back screen without the touch screen on but im finding it hard to do. If anyone can help me to sort this i would be very happy.
Yeah I noticed the focusing issue as well. It's super annoying. You spend a bunch of money on a "great camera" and then you miss the most important shots cause it's not focusing fast enough. :(
the Ibis, the battery and the autofocus are bad in my opinion :( you have to go through that. I will try it a few more times. Thanks for your inspiring video.
This is exactly what I am feeling too... My friend has this problem with the XHS2 too, saying it missing focus regularly. Considering going back to the V...

This is a fantastic tip. Don't suppose this helps with focusing too? ahaha
Nice tip! @ewrzosek
Huge thanks, I'll try that - I really was massively underwhelmed by the battery performance coming from an X-E4.

James you are lucky to have one. I am still waiting months now. Hope you are well. All three best Michael. Once again nice trip shots London

Completely agree dude. Going to give the VI a few more redemption attempts but at the moment, I prefer the V

Nice video !
15:00 what camera company was that?
which camera use for this video?
What is the shutter speed?
Does it have snap focus mode like the Ricoh GR II and GR III cameras.
But it does have a view finder ,flip up screen and built in flash…..I think they are missing from the GR

I don’t have this poor focus issues with my XT5 or X100VI .. Try zone focus works very well for street photography

Are you running the latest v1.10 firmware, or the previous 1.01?
@@ewrzosek 1.10
@@joelb727 uh oh, so even 1.10 didn’t fix it for you?? That sucks, will have to test myself when I get my X100VI back from service :(
Did you not have boost mode on?
Ummmm apparently not ahaha. What does Boost mode do?
@@JamesParsons1 fast everything including AF
@@JamesParsons1 Boost AF I am told.
Boost mode is pretty much what every fuji cam should be set on. Makes using fuji a good experience without noticeably losing battery.
Great Compositions. Which simulation did you use to get those amazing blues in the sky?
There is a blue chrome setting you can play with that enhances blue in camera.. but I don't think he mentioned the film sim.. it looks like provia or something neutral.
Which film simulation are you using here?
One of my own presets :) can download it for free at the buymeacoffee.com link

I agree, the touch screen was infuriating me, so i've turned it off. Go to Button/ dial settings --> Touch screen Settings --> Off
Go to page 301 of the manual EVF/OVF Touch Screen Area Setting you can deactivate parts of the screen which will stop your nose changing things
Whats the bag?
Bellroy venture sling 10L. Mike has the 9L and its probably more practical :)
Looks like the Bellroy Venture
Edit: nailed it 😅
I have the same bag. It’s perfection.

It's been a bit of a struggle! Might go back to the V...
Hope the new update will bring some fixes

My "V" is relatively new for me. I'm not sure I want to hear about the "VI." 😂
Ahahaha as of this moment right now, I prefer the V if that helps
