I was being intentionally minimalistic in the same way Hollywood would be when making such references, since the condition is, in fact, far more common in dogs and commonly associated with in breeding regardless of the actual cause. I'm more than aware that heterochromia has several other causes, and it wasn't meant to be a stated fact. Also, to say that animal inbreeding is "forced" by humans is quite hyperbolic, considering that it's a common occurrence in wild animals or feral packs of typically domesticated animals. The males will react instinctively to the scent of a female in heat, regardless of genetic relation, it can't be helped. Most actually reputable breeders would actively try to avoid this, to avoid birth defects, and it would really be more a product of accidents due to being unable to separate them in a timely manner, whether through a lack of awareness of impending heat, or resources.

I think it was that the film was being used as a massive exposition dump rather than a story in its own right most of the time. I'm not convinced that Rowling works as a screen writer. She's used to being able to write everything her own way and have editors a bit afraid to make changes. Arguably, that works for novels (though parts of the last three felt rather bloated). When I saw his different eye color, I assumed it was a sign that dark magic left behind. Dumbledore had mentioned that dark magic leaves behind traces when he and Harry were at the island where Voldemort had hidden the Horcrux locket. (I don't recall Grindelwald's eyes being two different colors in the Deathly Hollows scene though.)
Mine is just reversed, first Dumbledore and second Grindelwald... They are my Top 2 Wizarding World favourite character and I believe the most powerful at their prime.
I really don't see his vision of ww2 as a prediction as much as a portent of his plan in the coming events at that time the Great war or WW1 was still fresh on people's minds and he wanted to have wizards dominate muggles to prevent a recurrence of the great war
I sort of doubt it, a lot of people speculate that the different eye colors were an addition made by Johny Depp to the characters outfit. The thing that actually shows the future is the skull he had. If you recall to I think the deathly hallows movie when voldemort breaks into azkaban and kills old Grindelwald he does not have differently colored eyes.
I know it was likely shitty writing during the films that had Grindelwald tell Voldemort where the elder wand was, but after this video, I think it can be explained off as tho Grindelwald knew the elder wand would be Voldemort's downfall, being able to see into the future.
Grindelwald has different coloured eyes because David Yates think that something that's aesthetically noteworthy means it's better. The script itself says Grindelwald has blue eyes, but Yates ignores it, making Grindelwald look like a silly call-back to Depp's role as the Mad Hatter. When Torquil Travers and the Aurors arrived to question Dumbledore, the scene opens in the script by them walking into the school, and Yates didn't think that looked cool enough, so he made a plot hole that wasn't in the script by making them apparate. Rowling should've fired his ass ages ago.
My first thought on heterochromia was David Bowie, he had one brown and one blue eye. And now I think about it: Grindelwald does share some looks with Bowie's thin white duke character.
I love your videos so much! I just kinda wish the music was a little quieter. It gets so loud from time to time that it makes it hard to focus on what your saying. Maybe its a setting thing but I still love the videos no matter what
I sometimes wonder about Madam Hooch. She's described as having "yellow eyes, like a hawk." This is very useful for her job as broom flying instructor and Quidditch referee. But I've often wondered why she has this characteristic. Is there something about her being not quite human? I don't think it's ever been explained.
Hellos. Does anyone know where I can find the background music from this video cause I so love it. Great videos by the way. Love the Harry Potter films 🎥
I am only at 0:53 and here is my prediction: his blue eye is similar to Mad Eyes as its used to see through objects. I mean the man is hunting down Horcruxs and one is the invisibility cloak and we know that Mad Eyes eye can see through Harrys cloak. So it would make sense to me that he would undergo a process that allowed him to do it.
You said it yourself, handsome. He liked to experiment. His first attempts to change his appearance without polijuice potion were unsuccessful.. so he ended up with some of the features of the guy he was trying to imitate. Maybe some malfoy relative 😬
1. JKR said that WW can't have disabilities/mutations that muggles have (Harry must wear glasses for something wizard related?). 2. It is a known teaching that bi-colored eyed people have been said to possess witching/psychic abilities and are in 2 worlds as once. I was expecting her to include it in the series somewhere. 3. Johnny is a Gemini, so it makes sense he channeled Grind that way. Reminds me of when fellow Gemini Helena (Bellatrix) wore two different shoes on the red carpet bc she couldn't decide which color to go with. She blamed it on being a Gemini.
I agree, if they had a plain old fashioned duel, with both being in their prime, without horcruxes involved I would bet money that Grindelwald would win
Since grindlewald performed many advanced experiments could we say he experimented on his eye to enhance his senses and possibly gifting him with the power to see the future through the one eye as if he were locking in a magic ball
I think Johhny Deep would be more like Richard Harris in Harry Potter. The one who was exactly like written but was somehow unable to complete the charecter. Even at that time people said that Michale Gambon is a bad choice, but the rest is history. Though he played the charecter a bit soundly( Dumbledore asked calmly😂) yet he was successful. So we can expect something similar from Mads Mikkelsen who is really talented actor,to play the charecter a bit different still successful. The only thing to be sad about is that Richard's change was a forced one, and this one was just a bad opinion.
I feel a strong similarity between Star Wars and Harry Potter, especially between the Sith and Grindelwald, they both thought they are superior to regular people, and given the twisted nature of the dark side of the force, the user usually can expect some changing in their appearance (yellow eyes). Therefore I'd pick your second explanation myself. 🤔
I also felt that his eyes meant something and felt one is connected to seeing the future. But his use of the the Hookah, would debunk it. From my understanding, it was Depp who gave him the other eye which is so like Depp to do, lol.
One of my eyes are light blue and the other is like a weird green colour, so whenever someone ask me what colour are my eyes I just say “good question”
I have a cousin that has heterochromia iridium. In examining possible explanations for Grindelwald's heterochromia, youforgot to mention metamorphmagi, who are able to change their appearance at will; Tonk namely demonstrated it with her hair and parts of her face, but eye color is probably a common trait that is changed to hide in plain sight. In your examination of Grindelwald's eyes, I am reminded of what I thought when I saw David Bowie's eyes in the movie Labyrinth, and in other films he's been in. The left one dark and more human looking (although this was permanently damaged from a scuffle, the pupil permanently enlarged, in reality), and the right one strikingly blue and unnatural/magical (his undamaged eye in reality).
Will the final duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald reveal to us who really killed Ariana via Priori Incantatem? Just watched Goblet of Fire and saw Dumbledore's reaction to Harry experiencing it. Seemed like he was uneased by the memory of the rare magic. Would love to see a theory video about this.
Unlikely, the reverse spell effect requires wands that have cores that came from the same source e.g. Harry's and voldemort's wand cores came from fawkes. The core of the elder wand came from the tail hair of a thestral long before dumbledore and grindelwald were born.
The Reverse Spell (Prior Incantato) can be cast upon a wand instead, as this charm forces the wand in question to show a sort of 'echo' of the last spell casted. This can be performed on every wand and does not require wands to have the same core (as in taken from the same animal). The Reverse Spell Effect (Priori Incantatem), on the other hand, can only occur by itself and that too as a sort of rare manifestation of the spell above when two wands with the same core (like Harry's and Voldemort's) attempt to duel each other. The winner's wand will force the loser's wand to regurgitate 'echoes' of the most recent spells it had cast in reverse order. For more info, you can look it up on Fandom (where I got this bunch of info from). Hope this helps! Have a good day! :)
I don't believe the movies will address this but if they did it will definitely have to do with his seer abilities and experiments. My theory is that Gellert wanted to make his abilities stronger and more focused. Something that really convinced me of this was the skull pipe he used to project his vision for others to see, it just didn't seem natural. It's similar to the way you could see and hear the seer saying the prophecy with the crystal balls at the ministry, however the magic used for that is probably impractical in someway or another. Such as it being time extensive, requiring lots of concentration, maybe it needed to go through some inconvenient process and he decided to experiment on how to project his visions when he wanted. The closest thing was projecting them with the help of the skull.
Could it be that after defeating Grindelwald, Dumbledore took that magical eye and kept it with him until one day his friend Moody lost one and was in need of it?
A little detail I hope was intentional was when Grindelwald was asked about what would become of the muggles by a pureblood supremacist, he said "We will always need beasts of burden." (paraphrase) But his tone made it seem like an afterthought. This combined with his proclamation that he doesn't hate muggles gives me the impression that he tolerates, rather than supports, the pureblood agenda. Yes he thinks wizards should rule, but I don't think he has any intention of causing the muggles any unnecessary suffering, such as the kind Voldemort would revel in. I think he just genuinely believes that muggle industrial progress is causing them to become too dangerous for wizards (who he believes are more responsible) to not intervene, and that their lives would be made better anyway by wizards providing magical benefits to their society. The possibilities there are endless and the muggles would not need wands to enact them (not that they'd work). Think about it. Endless clean energy, magic doing most heavy labour, preventing wars (since wizards seem to engage in them less often than muggles), unlimited infrastructure created with ease, fast travel (flu powder might not even need a wizard for it to activate) and so on. I hope they do go along this route. As giving Grindelwald a genuine and good reason for him to do horrible things makes him far more interesting. Especially since it plays into important issues in our own world, such as the consequences of rapid technological development. Our decision over who is right (Dumbledore or Grindelwald) should not be easy. That will make the story so much more engaging.
Hi video ideea. Battles that happened off screen (Fabian and Gideaon prewett vs death eathers; Mad Eye Moody vs Voldemort when he was killed, etc , although sad those were some bad ass duels i am sure. Congrats and good luck.
Grindelwald is the best dark wizard he was smart enough to find dumbledores weakness and eliminate dumbledore completely If he had more companions he would make Voldemort look like a playground bully

I have a question that could be an Idea for a video, can somebody get somebody’s horcrux and also put their soul in it even if their is somebody else’s soul also in it?
Bixby I saw a theory the other day about this very thing talking about how his I maybe related to his evil deeds similar to help voldemort appearance changed
I think it would be interesting if Gellert’s heterochromia is based on his seer abilities with one of the eyes allowing him to willingly peek into future events and the other functioning normally
What I'm curious about, is why his eyes were both blue, and now this cold, white-blue and deep brown. How did that change? Or was the different colour-thing just something they thought looked cool, but didn't think about the logic behind it? I mean, how can eyes change colour over the years?
did you hear about the deathly hallows when drawn look like an eye, and maybe it's moodys eye/ Grindys eye a part of the hallows, the one to find all other hallows- theory?
The eye color reminds me of David Bowie..his eyes were different because he was in a fight. Maybe when Grindelwald fought Dumbledore the same thing happened. Dumbledore's sister died and Grindelwald's eye was injured.
I like that Grindelwald's intention to dominate the muggle world is that muggles are capable of inflicting severe harm towards each other through wars and bombs.... However, wizards are just as dangerous as muggles, and is actually quite more successful than muggles. For example, wizards already have the capability to prolong life (sorcerer's stone), bring back dead, become invisible, master elements, mess up with time, kill to split one's soul etc, in which muggles are still "researching" until now. So i do not buy his intentions.
based on what i heard in this video i say darkness hasn’t fully taken him over, even though he may have done twisted dark magic doesn’t mean he still has a bit of light left in him, the part that dumbledore still believes which means the role he acts on is light and darkness, however given the fact he has the power of a seer i think he would make a great divination teacher. i wouldn’t being taught by him in divination at hogwarts should he take that job, good candidate, but then again sybil is another likely choice without given the benefit of the doubt.

Joel Flores B. Bro voldy broke into nurmengard not azkaban and grindy was a seer this was confirmed by j k herself
But he made it better right?
@@lure7430 No? :'D
@@ninclow5421 oh ok
Yeah when I saw that scene I wondered how in the heck did they apparate onto school grounds when you couldn't?
Theory: Did the Elder Wand betray Grindelwald in the duel with Dumbledore because he was the catcher in the relationship?
I'm assuming it's going to be something very akin to the way Harry defeated Voldemort.
Bwaha Dumbledore is so the pitcher in that relationship 🤣
What if Dumbledore was the power bottom?
he was the master of the elder wand how could it betray him?
soham khedekar I think we will learn more about the Elder wand eventually.
Grindelwald's eye is different bexause he unlocked his mangekyo rinnegan just like sasuke did
Wow like a legend bro
Nice
Hmm, I wonder if his falling out with Dumbledore triggered it. It does require the sacrifice of a dear relationship doesn’t it?
Sasuke had standard rinnegan... Just weird personalized form
My first thought on heterochromia was David Bowie, he had one brown and one blue eye. And now I think about it: Grindelwald does share some looks with Bowie's thin white duke character.
He looks so cool I wish, I had heterochromia with one jade green eye and the other chocolate brown!
Grindewald’s eyes are not just two different colors; the right one has a silver, metallic, cast to it.
Where did he say that?
She blamed it on being a Gemini.
i once met a boy with one green eye and the other was brown... everyone was so fascinated by his eyes as me... it is just so interesting and beautiful
I feel like we havent seen the full power of Grindelwald so anyone claiming voldemort is more powerful then Gellert or vice versa could be irrelevant
I agree, if they had a plain old fashioned duel, with both being in their prime, without horcruxes involved I would bet money that Grindelwald would win
We still have too see the legendary duel between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, so we hope
I love these videos!!
In the movie when Voldemort visits Grindelwald, Grindelwald said " I know you'd come one day". Maybe he had forseen that too.
Because he's a cat in secret. A very bad wild cat.
I think the fact that he has heterochromia complements his status as a Seer really well, being able to foretell the future and all.
video suggestion if grindelwald escaped nurmengard to help dumbledore
My oldest daughter has one of her moms eyes and one of mine. Its beautiful one brown eye and one blueish green eye. She loves it.
3:19 Why did you have to use that particular frame of Voldemort?
@@stuart6403 great reply makes a lot of sense
I’m going to miss Johnny Deep as Grindelwald 😔
I thought grindelwald had a blind eye. Because of the color.
Haha me too
I don't believe the movies will address this but if they did it will definitely have to do with his seer abilities and experiments.
Please upload more! I like these fantastic beasts/grindlewald theories!
Could it be that after defeating Grindelwald, Dumbledore took that magical eye and kept it with him until one day his friend Moody lost one and was in need of it?
Great video. I have yet to watch the Fantastic Beasts, but I am FASCINATED by Grindelwald!! Great theories, AS ALWAYS.
I like to believe he has Heterochromia or one of his eyes is moddy’s eye.
Great theory..especially concerning dumbleores opinion on seers
What's the Ost called, the ambience is chillingly beautiful
Theory: when Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, he actually destroyed the evil i.e the red part of his soul/eye
Good job keep up the grind
Hi video ideea. Battles that happened off screen (Fabian and Gideaon prewett vs death eathers; Mad Eye Moody vs Voldemort when he was killed, etc , although sad those were some bad ass duels i am sure. Congrats and good luck.
Grindelwald is the best dark wizard he was smart enough to find dumbledores weakness and eliminate dumbledore completely
If he had more companions he would make Voldemort look like a playground bully
Grindelwald is the real mastery of villainy 🖤 can’t stop watching his moments
I've wondered about the skull hookah that Grindelwald uses. Whose skull is it, and what does the inscription and date mean ??

Oh my gosh? The Polyjuice Potion again?? Maybe Bowie isn't actually dead... Ok no but that would be such a downgrade in terms of character :'-D

Bowie doesn't have heterochromia. An eye injury caused one pupil to be permanently dilated.
@@tokivikerness8863 I think I heard at a presentation about Bowie that they only told the story about Bowie being hit in a fight about a girl because it sounded more interesting / was funnier
Love your vids
I have a question that could be an Idea for a video, can somebody get somebody’s horcrux and also put their soul in it even if their is somebody else’s soul also in it?
He stole the eye from his brother to unlock the magekyo sharignan duh
Amazing topic
Why was the Department of mysteries created
Kassie Parsons the ministry was build around the veil that sirius fell into and they could just have that in a open room
It's a mystery
Wasnt older Grindelwald eyes were normal in the hp series?
Bixby I saw a theory the other day about this very thing talking about how his I maybe related to his evil deeds similar to help voldemort appearance changed
Who is the father of Grindelwald? Is it in the Fantastic Beasts(I didn't watch it... yet)?
Will there be future instalment in the fantastic beast franchise
I think it would be interesting if Gellert’s heterochromia is based on his seer abilities with one of the eyes allowing him to willingly peek into future events and the other functioning normally
Whats the background Music?
What I'm curious about, is why his eyes were both blue, and now this cold, white-blue and deep brown. How did that change? Or was the different colour-thing just something they thought looked cool, but didn't think about the logic behind it? I mean, how can eyes change colour over the years?
Cats with this condition especially the blue/green combo are often plagued with terrible health issues that can claim their lives very young.
did you hear about the deathly hallows when drawn look like an eye, and maybe it's moodys eye/ Grindys eye a part of the hallows, the one to find all other hallows- theory?
You could also look at it as a way to depict Grindelwald as someone out of the ordinary.
Why was Johnny Depp using a microphone while in costume??
Soundtrack ??
Can someone please give the name of the song In this video?
I think Newts patronus is the green thingy he has in his shirt pocket most of the time
The eye color reminds me of David Bowie..his eyes were different because he was in a fight. Maybe when Grindelwald fought Dumbledore the same thing happened. Dumbledore's sister died and Grindelwald's eye was injured.
Can we think sybill was a descendent or relative of Grindelwald and dumbeldore already knows him so why he go to him because he already known him
Nice theory, However as the movie explained it, he looks like this because of all of the magic they did to him while in prison at MACUSA.
I thought I heard somewhere that his eyes were due to Newt flubbing his revealing charm slightly in FB1?
sounds extremely stupid
especially when you can see young grindelwald in the mirror of erised with the same bloody eyes
Probably another reason why Voldemort killed grindlewald!
I like how Grindlewald is all buddy buddy with the flash
I like that Grindelwald's intention to dominate the muggle world is that muggles are capable of inflicting severe harm towards each other through wars and bombs....
However, wizards are just as dangerous as muggles, and is actually quite more successful than muggles. For example, wizards already have the capability to prolong life (sorcerer's stone), bring back dead, become invisible, master elements, mess up with time, kill to split one's soul etc, in which muggles are still "researching" until now.
So i do not buy his intentions.
My mum has heterochromia. It’s really cool. I wish that I had inherited it, but both my eyes are blue/grey haha
based on what i heard in this video i say darkness hasn’t fully taken him over, even though he may have done twisted dark magic doesn’t mean he still has a bit of light left in him, the part that dumbledore still believes which means the role he acts on is light and darkness, however given the fact he has the power of a seer i think he would make a great divination teacher. i wouldn’t being taught by him in divination at hogwarts should he take that job, good candidate, but then again sybil is another likely choice without given the benefit of the doubt.
You dont mentions chimeras or how that type of changcelings from celtic mythology, have a dualnature. And in folkelore it is said that chimeras are twins where the one that lives comsumes the other. In genetic this is the term for ppl who consumes their twin in the womb
. And given johnny deeps answer isnt a chimera at leas a plossible explanation?
love the video
I really want Harry Potter Theory to have 1 million subscribers.
I prefer johnny depp too as grindelwald. He is such a good actor, can play any kind of role. He got the appearance accurate as described in the harry potter books. Pale blonde hair that is shaved on the sides of his head to give a sleek look n with thin white moustache. Mads mikkelsen's look is more of lockhart or lupin
Perhaps Grindelwald sought to refine and enhance his ability as a seer and it changed one of his eyes, intentionally or not?
Who else kept calling him Gilbert instead of Gellert when they 1st heard his name.
Gilbert grape
