I have this game. Got it and it's sibling game Dusk for my spouse around the time Sword and Shield released. We played together for about a hour and a half...and we put the games down. A week later we bought Sword and Shield and haven't picked them back up since.
I've been much more of a Digimon fan than Pokemon since the franchises started and my spouse is the opposite. But we both agree on this piece of advice: Play Pokemon. Watch Digimon.
And if you must play Digimon, just get the Cybersleuth bundle and a V-pet and you're good.

I just feel like digmeon is Sonys nock off of Pokémon so they could compete against Nintendo so basically it’s just sony being a copycat and a bad one at it sorta like how crashbandit is the rival games of sonic since Nintendo bought sonic that’s just how I see it

@@chandlerg There is so much wrong with this, I don't know where to start. First off, Sony didn't invent Digimon. Bandai adapted it from the original source material into more expansive video games. Digimon started as Tamagotchi then became a TV series based on said Tamagotchi. Also, Crash Bandicoot existed before Sonic came to Nintendo consoles, let alone other consoles. You do know Sonic games are featured on every major console now, right? (Although you're not wrong when you say the character was made as Sony's answer to Sonic. That much is true, but in all fairness, Sonic was also made as Sega's answer to Mario) It's kind of amazing what a little research can do. (And heck, look at all the major differences between Pokemon and Digimon as well)
On top of that, neither one did pet monsters first. Shin Megami Tensei, that franchise Persona is a spinoff of, came out in Japan on the Famicom 3 years before the first Pokemon game premiered. This franchise features a system where you befriend demons to fight alongside you. Seriously, it's amazing how even after all these years, there are still people so ridged, they haven't come to grips with the fact that monster collection is an RPG sub-genre that isn't exclusive to a specific title.
Come on, it only took two years for people to realize abridging was a trend on TH-cam that didn't have to be exclusive to LittleKuriboh. It only took mankind, what, a year to realize that first-person shooters are a genre, and that Doom didn't have to be the only one. And yet even after all this time, a good chunk of the Pokemon fanbase still hasn't realized other pet monster titles can exist and that giving more than one a chance gives you more to enjoy, which is not a bad thing, despite what biased Pokemon fans will tell you. I still feel sorry for the Yo-Kai Watch fandom for having to deal with this BS for so long as I swear, that series got it worse than Digimon in the west despite being more popular upon release in Japan.

As someone already typed in here, Pokémon is better in the games category, while Digimon is good in the anime category.
That being said, the game Jaiden went through was just not for her as a Digimon newbie. In fact, Digimon World Dawn is a sequel game to Digimon World DS. So she played a Digimon game that was mainly meant for Digimon fans.
There are Digimon games you can enjoy because Bandai experiments a lot with the franchise as each game has different gameplays from different genres. It’s just a matter of searching up what gameplay you know you can enjoy or tolerate.
And she made the right choice in the end to check out Cyber Sleuth for the next video as that game is more accessible and great for new fans. Especially if you’re familiar with the gameplay of Pokémon and/or Persona.
Just to clarify about the Bible’s worth of tutorials Jaiden vaguely joked about.
Either someone was very detailed about how to get through the game, or most likely she’s referring to how any Digimon can become a variety of monsters instead of just one single line.
Digimon are digital monsters and thus can become anything due to the type of data it integrates with. It’s why multiple Digimon can digivolve into the same monster, because it’s an option for them. They’re not stuck into limited evolution lines like Pokémon are.

The difference between Pokemon and digimon can be condensed into the following: The pokemon anime is subpar and exists to sell more game copies, while for digimon-- until recently-- the games were subpar and existed to sell more dvds/blurays of the anime.
Some more in depth personal experience as a fan of both franchises:
I'm a digimon anime fan, and I started the games with Digimon World 4 thinking it'd be something like the anime. Instead I got an action game in which I played as an Agumon with an Axe and struggled to even progress-- for someone that just wanted my own little monster friend it was not a good game. My second game was Dawn-- and I had the same issues Jaiden had, but I was a kid obsessed with the digimon show and this game had that something that let me fulfill that fantasy of having my own digimon, so I soldiered through the annoying things (like getting lost constantly). Dawn was also competing with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl at the time, so I'm pretty sure the mazes were an attempt at being as different from Pokemon as they could get.
Cybersleuth was the first Digimon game that was designed in a way that allows non-anime fans to get into the series. The "persona vibe" mentioned a lot is more due to it having a mature story compared to what you'd see in Pokemon--- and that Persona fans will see their series in literally anything with a mature story (I would know as a Persona Fan lol).
Cybersleuth is like taking Dawn's battle mechanics and making them slightly more pokemon like, then taking the mazes and dumbing them down to maybe two or three branching paths at most, then lastly adding in an ability that prevents random encounters if you have the right digimon with you (AKA Repels).
Cyber Sleuth's design is basically the perfect gateway game for digimon, and it's no wonder it got a sequel (Hacker's Memory). It's kind of sad that Jaiden didn't try out Cyber Sleuth first-- but I think she got confused when people started comparing it to Persona. It's definitely the closest to Pokemon of any of the games. -- choosing Dawn instead was probably a "Oh it's a DS game and it's a simple story, should be good for a quick video" type of situation---

    • @growasowa3444
      @growasowa3444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      > "Cybersleuth is like taking Dawn's battle mechanics and making them slightly more pokemon like"
false, at first glance CS's battle system appears like a typical turn-based JRPG battle system, pokemon similarities end at "turn-based", "highly customizable party" and "has type effectiveness mechanics".
The battle system of the DS story titles also was fairly unique with almost nothing carrying over to CS that wasn't standard JRPG stuff. Given that World DS and Dawn/Dusk failed to make proper use of their battle system, it isn't surprising it was eventually abandoned even though it had potential.

1:10 the Street Fighter community also has this problem. Mostly because each new game makes some rather drastic changes to the formula for better and for worse.

    @tjdj131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I can explain for ds
1.) The game attribute in some of those games were not balanced correctly so if you thought the demon species beat the angel species it's actually bird.
2.) Evolution there's multiple routes you can take in their characterize on their DNA,armor, regular,or Secret because you have to find the material or you have to get a specific number or limit for that Digimon.
    3. Grinding is a nightmare because in the the beginning because the different only give you a certain small amount for that attribute so if you have a fish species and beat up a wolf species you get the attribute for the wolf not for fish because you can involve into multiple different routes.
    4. Mazes are annoying because there's no repel but I think there is now because every five steps you have to fight something which makes grinding quicker but annoying.
    5. Everything in Digimon always relies on your speed so if you have a slow Digimon don't worry equipment always can boost that up.
    6. You may find it hard to choose what Digimon you want because all of them look good or amazing or cute.
    7. To continue main mission in this game you have to do the side missions some may be tedious and boring some of them maybe funny and great story. If there's more questions people write the comments other fans may help.

I like Hacker's Memory of the Digimon Story Cyberslueth Collection.
Also, everyone had a preference, though it seemed like those who were there for the old way of taking care of Digimon (Feed them, train them, clean up after them before they die and if they die naturally they'll turn into a digi-egg with higher stats.) were the ones to like games like Digimon World Re:Digitize or Next Order the most. Bandai tried to make other games in other gameplay styles, but would really only strike a cord with those who were already deep into a certain genre already. Cyberslueth was apparently more popular due to the fact that they made a 'sequel' (Which happened at the same time as the first one, just within a few seconds after the event happened.).

Digimon is in a very unfortunate position. It appears to be a franchise that doesn't actually have any kind of direction, at least when it comes to the games. It also conflicts with the more personal stories of the shows, which give Digimon unique personalities and such, but in the game they're just treated like voiceless lumps of code you send out to fight for you. It doesn't feel like the games have any setting or established lore, and it just kinda changes from game to game.

I would say, if you want to start with an easy digimon game, that you will enjoy if you like Pokemon......yeah, i would say Cybersleuth. Because we are talking about your entry into franchise, not THE BEST GAME!.
Its an easy entry and an RPG. The only annoying thing is the ABI requirement for Digievolution. Its basically pokemon with an actual interesting story. And no, it doesnt really feel like persona.
I played Hacker's Memories and i loved it, i am still getting all the digimon (Lucemon Satan Mode was a bitch and a half to get)
On the Question of how to unlock the story, you have a set of missions, from side story to the actual missions you have to do to progress the story (those are a bit bland, ngl.) But the Eden dungeons are pretty straightforward, there is a minimap and you have several Hacker abilities that make traversal easier
The Gameplay is an RPG, the digimons have 1 of 4 types and one element.
There are four types. Vaccine beats Virus. Virus beats Data. Data beats Vaccine. They do double damage following this order. Backwards, they do half damage. So Vaccine does 2x damage to Virus, but .5x damage to Data. The fourth type is Free, and has no bonus. Each type is also need for a hacking skill.
    There are 9 elements.
Fire beats Plant, Plant beats Water, Water beats Fire. In a separate group, Earth beats Electric, Electric beats Wind, Wind beats Earth. Light and Dark oppose each other. And Neutral has no advantage. With elemental advantage, your attack does an extra +0.5x damage. There is no elemental disadvantage.
Types are shown by symbol. Vaccine looks like a teardrop, Virus looks like a spike ball, Data looks like a cube, and Free is a dash.
You can grind in this game, if you want, but it is much easier when you have an Ultimate Level neutral digimon and either 2 Platinum Sukamon, which double the amount of experience all the mons get, or 2 Platinum Numemon, which quadruple the EXP.
Meanwhile you have several isles in the Digilab where your digimon gain experience(over time) and can train specific stats to access different digievolutions(Each digimon has a pool of evolutions but they all follow a stage line, Baby-> In Training-> Rookie-> Champion-> Ultimate-> Mega (there is also Ultra Level digimon but those are Rare and tend to be Classified as Mega for convenience), each digimon will have a list of specific stats needed for them to gain access to a certain Digievolution (Like 35 Atk, 27 Def, 50 Spd, % of Friendship and a number of ABI (which is something you grind by digivolving and de-digivolving digimon)), craft items, or Investigate for side missions which either dont really do much, or after passing them you get an item needed for a specific Digievolution (I have all the Royal Knights except Magnamon, because the darn mission, in which you get the digieggs of Miracle and Destiny, won't freaking appear).
After Cybersleuth, if you want to experience what Pure OG Digimon is like, you could play the Digimon Next Order.....and experience what raising a Digimon is first hand...jsyk the digimon are on a timer and they die of old age.......Have fun with that

So, with digimon, I have only played Cyber Sleuth (I avoided the hellscape of the digimon world games like the plague), its a great game, has a bit of grinding (esp if you are like me and are a completionist), but it has a good story, some dark tones, and great comedy
Pokemon is much better for younger audiences, with the games, the designs, and the anime, and digimon is moderately better for older audiences, as its games are more complex (Pokemon is overall a more fun experience for the games) but the digimon anime has darker undertones which make it much better for adults, and the designs are a lot more mixed, so while you still have your cutesy little fire dino, you also have your big scary worm boi

Idk why people don't like world mechanics, that's what Digimon really is.

Hm, maybe starting with Digimon Adventure would’ve been better.

As someone who enjoys both franchises: The digimon games are basically all shit, some are fine/mediocre at best and Digimon Cybersleuth is probably the best one, sorta sad that Jaiden started with World Dawn since that one is legitimately really fucking hard and difficult if you aren't already used to how some of the other games are like plus I'm pretty sure it was a sequal to another game so the game really wasn't made for newbies. However the anime for Digimon is actually really good, I'd probably say I enjoy it more than basically all of pokemon's animes tbh.
I feel like pokemon does the games better since they have been mostly consistent in the formula of their games and it works really well and even the ones that stray away from the formula end up still being a delight to play. It's also a lot more straightforward than most digimon games. The pokemon anime is alright there's some really good ones, some great film, nothing extraordinary (in the mainline anime atleast I know there are ones like pokemon Origins and generations which look incredible) but still most are pretty good really depends who you ask.

Cyber sleuth is the best Digimon game so far, Digimon is not a video game series like Pokémon. Pokémon was a game series that branched off into other thing, Digimon was a tamagotchi that branch off into other things. Jaden‘s main failing point is going into this think it’s like Pokémon and there’s a “good game”. usually each Digimon game is drastically different. And if she wanted a game similar to Pokémon she should have played Digimon word championship.

The early Digimon games are the worst idea to get into the series from. If you want to get into the Digimon series, and not feel like you were drag across sand paper, the anime is the way to go, though if you only want to get into through the games you should go through the more modern Digimon games, such as Cyber Sleuth and Next Order, as they will easy you in a fair bit more easily than the old games ever would.

But like I wrote, it's my opinion

Digimon Dawn/Dusk is definitely a slug fest also beating the main game is only at best 50% completion.
Digimon can all be created without game faqs and certain cheats/mods.

yeah...the digimon games aren't that good the newer ones are pretty good but there's this thing most people say that helps true the digimon anime is good the games not so much and the Pokemon games are good but the anime isn't as much :/
