They totally used the wrong mode for this line. These vehicles should be the Seattle streetcar, while Line 1 should be subway style heavy rail trains (with overhead power)
These are the same size as subway trains. These will not make the streetcar curves. The line goes the same speed as the subway. There is nothing wrong with these trains. The Seattle Streetcar trains are absolutely tiny.
I hear this a lot, but the reality is that a heavy rail line wouldn'tve had enough voter support in the 90s. The fact that heavy rail died at the ballot in the 80s, and the original light rail plan died at the ballot in 1995 (only to pass a scaled back version in 1996) should say as much. Could there be a future where voters finally pass heavy rail infrastructure? Sure, but right now we're focusing on the system we have currently as there's no denying that Link has done a lot to improve mobility in the region.
