At A Photoshoot, We Said Our Verses Into A Camera While This Song Was Playing In The Background. Why Not Release it. OFTAPE Vol 2 Out Now!!! smarturl.it/oftapevol2 Filmed By Lance Bangs
11 years damn, this is culture. Some people would look at this as a sloppy first music video, but it plays a huge part for this era of rap music and just shows how far artists like Tyler and Frank have progressed musically and as people
i dont think the kids of today will ever feel how special this group meant to young guys growing up. These dudes were the soul of my youth. They will always hold a special place in my heart. This brings me back to memories of hanging out at the park with my longboard and hanging out with my pals doing whatever because we had the luxury of time.
Man that's kinda crazy. If you look how earl and Tyler are looking at frank during his verse you can kinda see it. It's like they don't get what he's tryna say
This music video is so special. Especially if you’re from LA. This was a peak era for music, and it was when you could go down to Fairfax and run into anyone from OFWGKTA, they’d always be kicking it at the supreme store or later on the golf store. Such a picture perfect time in my life, felt like a shift in music and culture with social media beginning to get big, a lot of groups like TDE ,A$AP mob, Mac miller, Good music, J Cole, drake. Having so many cool mixtapes to listen to on datpiff. So special! And this song along with Tyler’s world building is timeless and classic
Yup exactly. in LA at that time we had Odd Future, Nipsey, TDE, YG as well. there will never be a time like that in Los Angeles ever. The Drakeo era was similar because a lot of artists at that time too, but definitely not on same level.
C Brash in our hearts, yeah. But we’ll never get to see another OF Tape. Or another season of Loiter Squad. Shit, maybe even a recent picture of the gang back together seems unlikely. Everybody grows, and essentially, Odd Future was just a bunch of angsty skater kids who knew a thing or two about rap and wanted to make it big, having fun all the while. And that they did.
What makes this song more iconic is what some people don’t know or realize is that this was Earl Sweatshirts first song in years because he took like 2/3 years off for some personal reasons. His verse in this marked his comeback and in my opinion his verse is super fire definitely top 3
Exactly, this is a shining moment of him being a great businessman, he knew that this video would be loved, and 40 million views later I'm sure anyone who doubted him is feeling pretty stupid
Not even gonna lie, I got hooked on percs in the summer of 2010 before my junior year and after graduation I was working a night shift. When id get home id drop a few percs and turn this song on, and if i took em right before i started playing it, id feel the warm fuzzies in my stomach when it ended and wouldnt feel sick anymore and id just chill and watch rap interviews 😂 shit was so stupid but back then it was my zen type shit lmao. I’m 5 years clean on April 14 and got myself my own place, a great woman in my life, a nasty supercharged audi, and I’m big chillin as a mechanic now. S/o OF for this to rock to during a dark time in my life.
This song/video meant so much to me back in the day. When I found this song, I was getting ready to begin the 8th grade. My mom had just moved us to Arizona, so all of my friends were 1,500 miles away. In those times, whenever I felt lonely, this song would always lift my mood up. I was so enamored by this group of friends and, as cheesy as it sounds, almost felt like they were my friends too. Nearly 10 years later, I still get that warm feeling.
0:33 this "Fuck you" is an example of Tyler's genius. Some exec was likely asking them to stop but Tyler could see where this was going and it could be a piece of art. That's fighting for your creative vision.
Watching this video is instant nostalgia for me, and it’s quite bittersweet. The friends I listened to OF with have mostly all parted ways but I appreciate the music cementing the memory of all us vibing and going crazy with this stuff as our soundtrack. I remember having a group of homies at a house party all getting assigned a verse from this and all of us almost flawlessly spitting it with almost the whole party surrounding us (besides Earl’s verse, felt bad for the guy who got assigned that) and having the times of our lives. Anybody ever wonder how rap groups coincidentally work so well? How can you fucking find that many people locally with similar aesthetic and music taste as you to make a rap group
their just a bunch of kids from cali that liked music and came together to make a big ass rap group. They don't all listen to the same music nor have the same music taste. They're all different flows influenced through different music.
@@Chucatoso777 Earl is the shit, Hodgy and Left brain did some shit too as Mellowhype but they didn't release much. Domo had a solo album that was pretty good but tbh that was around them time I stopped listening to them all

Mike G earl domo frank and Tyler’s last verse had the deepest foreshadowing and deeper meanings behind them even tho all verses where dope those will forever stick out to me as I reminisce on how they helped open my mind and motivated me to keep striving forward no matter how pointless life seemed to me as I graduated back in 2012 thank you OF #OFWGKTA4Eva🍩
I used to listen to this song on repeat in high school cruisin around with my buddies smokin and just chillin. I still remember every word. I miss those days.
Damn, the hype surrounding this album was unbelievable. Earl had just returned after being missing for years, Loiter Squad was set to air in a week, Tyler came out of nowhere to win a VMA (Over Wiz Khalifa who was at the height of his career) and Frank's career was blowing up independent of Odd Future. Sadly, after this the group sort of went their own ways and while I've really liked Tyler, Earl, and Frank's solo work since, I'd give anything to be able to go back to this moment in Hip Hop history.

i remember listening to this in my first day of 8th grade. I am working now, this still slaps the same way.
They're all different flows influenced through different music.

yeah
Matt Hm.. Maybe we could make the first internet rap group.. I'm down if u down.
This is basically the freshman cypher of odd future
David Birmingham facts
David Birmingham lmao how
It's better than the shit cyphers that's been out recently
It's crazy because earl was asked to join XXL but declined. He would have actually been in one of those cyphers
Better than the xxl
I really wanted these guys together again... we only appreciate it when we lose, and I miss that time
The way Earl can contrast a pair of lips, as he swallows sarapin and sets fire to sheriffs whips really motivates me.
Tyler was genuinely excited for all the homies getting on the mic. Just pure good times
🔴🔵🟡I good times dropped so good new godly track Plucked look th-cam.com/video/A730AHOC668/w-d-xo.html

Same can’t Be said for frank
@Tartarian Truth Fr the only ones that still being relevant are earl, tyler and frank
@@Chucatoso777 Earl is the shit, Hodgy and Left brain did some shit too as Mellowhype but they didn't release much. Domo had a solo album that was pretty good but tbh that was around them time I stopped listening to them all
Had to revisit this after so many years and I still remember some of the lines😂😂
The 2010's went hard af for rap no lie
Well yea lmao it was the decade rap became the most dominant genre.
@@kevinrayonflores2212 yeah no shit sherlock

Happy 10 year anniversary of this video 🍩
Its crazy how 10 years ago they was a collective group, and now 10 years later all of them doing there own thing solo career wise, its so awesome to see each of them succeed
Oof times rly do fly
It’s been 10 years already huh. Wow does time just pass by without a warning, glad to see everyone here doing their own thing. Happy 10 year anniversary 🍩
A decade ago and still the best
we here
Mike G earl domo frank and Tyler’s last verse had the deepest foreshadowing and deeper meanings behind them even tho all verses where dope those will forever stick out to me as I reminisce on how they helped open my mind and motivated me to keep striving forward no matter how pointless life seemed to me as I graduated back in 2012 thank you OF #OFWGKTA4Eva🍩
so true. last verse went hard
I used to listen to this song on repeat in high school cruisin around with my buddies smokin and just chillin. I still remember every word. I miss those days.
The fact that this just started off as a bunch of bad ass lil kids doing bad shit just makes this 100x better
they had been around doin dumb shit lol
@fuck this game facts lol
@fuck this game no the fuck they don’t?
@fuck this game trash music? Nah
@fuck this game you just wake up sour huh?
Damn, the hype surrounding this album was unbelievable. Earl had just returned after being missing for years, Loiter Squad was set to air in a week, Tyler came out of nowhere to win a VMA (Over Wiz Khalifa who was at the height of his career) and Frank's career was blowing up independent of Odd Future. Sadly, after this the group sort of went their own ways and while I've really liked Tyler, Earl, and Frank's solo work since, I'd give anything to be able to go back to this moment in Hip Hop history.
this video is literally their peak
This era was so sick for OF
Underated comment
Same! Omg... I was a sophomore or freshman just starting to love weed and I used to loooove them, they were so damn cool omg 😭 like they’re still cool but they were so insanely cool back then we thought we were badasses blaring this out our headphones on the bus 😂
is OF still all cool and they cool or they all doing their own thing?
Nothing brings me back to highschool like this track right here.. nothing but laughs and good times
So much talent here and the whole crew is just having a blast!
Frank looks like the supply teacher who can't control the class
Izzy Jenna not really
Izzy Jenna But also the one that doesn’t even try to, but instead just hangs with the class and fucks about with them
@@willjackson6522 yeh, he probably smoked a blunt before turning up to lesson too
He look like the cool sub who said “the teacher wrote this but fuck it we watching a movie”
If you cant beat em join em
