    Always loved this song. I think I still have the cassette. I played it a lot (I bought it with my church money one Sunday at a Thrifty Drugs in San Diego). How is that for an old memory from almost 55 years ago.

    I haven't seen Alan Gerber in 42 years. I did some recording with him in Chicago, and we were good friends in high school. He had a great Thelonious Monk jazz style that was awkward, angular, dissonant, and wonderful. I only wish I had played jazz with him and not just the pop rock we were doing at the time.

    I saw them in a club in the Village, NY around 68. I sat near Billy Munday the drummer. I was impressed with his style and it was a great influence on my playing. This drummer recreates that style very well. Our band did about 3 of their songs including this one.

    ..Fantastic to hear this song again after so many years. I could never remember
    the name of the band because I was High so much of the time....good memories
    of skippin' school and boosting records out of the corner store. Drinkin' beer
    underage and fights at the food stand. Girls in garages..naked ,out to get liquor and six packs of beer.

    Met Fonfara about 10 years ago, he was playing with Jack de Keyser here in southern Ontario, knew the name cause I played the crap out of my copy of Apricot Brandy on the Rhinoceros album along with Bloomfield's Electric Flag album in the late 60's which he played on as well.

    In 1970 I was on the concert committee of a small state college in NJ. We booked Rhinoceros for our spring concert, but the protests we staged following the incidents at Kent State and Jackson State put a halt to all campus activities. They still sound AWESOME!!

    This band came out of Jon and Lee and the Checkmates, my very first fan band. I watched them for hours at the Pepsi dances at the CNE. I was lucky enough to have Michael sit in on one of our band practices because our keyboard player's mother taught him. It was a thrill.

    i read through the comments and I am gratified. pity the group did not garner this degree of support back in the day when they were dying for it. still...small graces. how fortunate are we to hear them banging it out one more time. what a talented collection of musicians they were/ARE. in those halcyon daze I had 'never' seen anyone dance like Jon & Lee before them, let alone how magnificent were the vocals.

    Saw them open up for Iron Butterfly at Convention Center in Asbury Park NJ 1971...Was the first concert I ever went to, and was with my best friend Joe Chis....though my memory of it is dim, I've since worked there a number of times as a stagehand, and no matter how lousy the gig was, I could always look up to where we sat, and it put a smile on my face....Joe, hope all is well with you!!!

    I am so excited about finding this! I had no idea that this band played together as recently as 2009. This is a very important band for me and my early days. The two records that I have by them are perfection. I’m so delighted to find this!

    When I first heard this song I thought it was "Love on Draught" by David Cooley. But then I remembered, Cooley wrote LoD in 1999. Apricot Brandy was circa late 60s.

    @InnocenceDestroyed Are you referring to in a gadda da vida?
    The members when In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was recorded were Doug Ingle (keyboards and vocals), Lee Dorman (bass guitar), Ron Bushy (drums), and 17-year-old Erik Brann.

      The Youngbloods opened that U of H show. Followed by a set by Manchester's own Ouiet Ones. Great 3 band concert.

    • @clairekeesey1285
      @clairekeesey1285 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phil Slade are you sure this was the same show? because when I met Guiliano it was at a Quiet Ones concert in Bushnell Park.

    • @philslade8135
      @philslade8135 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      claire keesey It's possible Rhinoceros played U of H more than once during that time period and that you were at a different show. But the concert I attended was the lineup I described in my earlier reply. I'm still in contact with a few of the Quiet Ones members and have gone back to CT the last few years and jammed with both the bass player and one of the guitarists of the Quiet Ones. Chances are we met way back since was/ still am a good friend of the Quiet Ones members and Gary and attended most of their concerts including those in Bushnell Park.

    Can somebody transcribe the lyrics for When You Say You're Sorry? I'm not english, so I have trouve figuring out every line (I want to make a cover of this song in fact).
    So if somebody is kind enough to take the moment to write me the lyrics for this song (or any other song from the 1st album in fact, they're the best and obviously they're impossible to find on the internet...) this would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks again.
