Best guitar playing I've ever heard. I heard this back in the 80s and keep coming back to it time and time again.
Dang love that tele!
I saw him and met him a couple of times and still have a strap with his signature ('93). He was the first to sign it. He was a very kind and gracious man, and was always there after the show to hobnob with fans and wannabes (like me!). RIP my friend...
Spoke to Danny many times over the phone talking about tone amps pick-ups. He put me onto Joe Barden Tele pickups and now my grand daughter plays that tele. Danny always generous with his time. A unique true talent. Thanks for great memories. Heard him a bunch of times in Toronto and I DC too. Always thrilling. Truly the WOW factor. He play NYC with the Hellecasters and typical Danny said it wasn't fair - three against one!
A Decade Under The Influence well done!
Funny...I think that's my super 8 film sound in the beginning. I've posted it on my page. Or maybe they all sound like that.....either way.....love it. And I love Rhinoceros AND Danny. So it's a trifecta or what have you.
Gatton kills it. Thanx!
It was recorded at the time of the 88 Elmira sessions, but for an Electra 40th Anniversary comp.
Info from Danny's bio by Ralph Heibutzki.
That is the great Bill Hollaman on sax
electra records 40th anniversary 2lp set
Hi! I have been searching for this song for years on end now. Fantastic to see/hear it here on youtube!
But what record is it from? Is it a 88 Elmira St. reject or something?
I know this answer is 8 years late but.... lol
It's from the Elektra Records 40th anniversary compilation, Rubaiyat, released in 1990. Elektra artists covering songs by other Elektra artists, Lots of good stuff on it
Gatton's work is always godlike, but I prefer Rhinoceros' version. (Probably because it was what we knew first) Who the hell plays sax on this cut?? Like it.
It's only a guess... maybe Jim Horn?
¬¬
Bill Holloman?
I never heard this by Gatton only by Rhyno. which I always liked .....but gatton kicks the shit out of this song......Weiss is good but...Gatton has quite an edge.
I think quite the opposite-this is weak
this sounds like a mikie walker song
will chek , thanks
Danny has more notes and fanfare has the big hammond
this sounds likw mikiw walker
good guitar playing, absolutely terrible production. this sounds like a late night talk show/SNL band running through what was already a weak riff tune lol
It was recorded in 1988 after all
