As someone who works in a running store, words cannot describe how much I hate this. When we say you can run outside in them, we usually mean like 100m or so, not 15 miles, with the expectation that you come back and buy one of the shoes. Even if you did come back and give the shoes back, you cant sell a shoe with 15 miles of wear on it at full price. Stores stay in business by buying from manufacturers and selling to you. If you want to go for a long run in the shoes, BUY THEM! You’re literally taking money away from these businesses, making it less likely that there will be more of them in the future.
So you make minimum wage workers serve you and make nothing, no commission, for their effort. And then you give your money to the brands online? No wonder locals shoe stores are struggling. Stay classy. Jeepers. 🙄
@@bensathreby telling people to go in there and ruin $300 of their products and not buying anything. I’m sure they’ll be open for a really long time. This is stealing
That's fair and I understand. What else could we do then to help this brand new running store get some publicity and get the word out about their small business?
You generally cannot test shoes like this. Unless you abuse a lot the shop's return policy. The video has a lot of mistakes. One example: never test a race shoe on a trail. Or a trail shoe on pavement. Test them for their intended purpose. Pronation is not bad. It is natural. Overpronation is. One of the few real things to consider: confort is the key to evaluate the way a shoe works for you Also, running a lot of miles in a new shoe is not smart. Run a few miles and see how it goes.
You are right about the distance. I have been running a long time though and knew the shoe would work for me. But for most, a shorter test run would be better. Maybe find a running store within 5 miles of your residence for most people.
For what it's worth TH-cam doesn't restrict views to only subscribers. The poop video did north of 100,000 views and I only had about 100 subs at that time.
@bensathre let’s say it gets 10M views, you’re advocating people go to their local small running shop and use their stock without paying for it. Do you understand how businesses work?
You are right man, I get it. The video was meant to be a joke. I did my best to drop subtle hints like getting the shoe names wrong and what not. I'm really sorry if people took it seriously. The shop owners are my friends. Nobody's business was hurt. Hopefully people know stealing is wrong.
Yup. A little hack I discovered with small local running stores is that if you ask to test them out outside on the sidewalk usually they will let you without even asking for ID or anything. Try doing that online. That's why it's best to always support local running stores.

I mean it's in the video she said she was fine with me leaving the store with them so I was under the impression they had no issue with what I was doing. Im not sure why that would be considered stealing.
@@bensathre You asked about the possibility of checking out the shoes outside for a moment, and you ran out for the whole day and didn't come back to the store. You took advantage of the good heart of this saleswoman, it has nothing to do with promoting the store. Right at the entrance you ask about the possibility of filming, but you didn't mention that you intend to publish this film, and then you run out of the store with their goods. After all, this woman must have waited for you to finish choosing the shoes, thinking that you would give them back, because it's obvious when you run out with two different shoes to check. And this concerns two pairs!
What I'll never understand is that I was informed that all these people were coming from a reddit chapter called running circle jerks which ostensibly is supposed to be a satirical running thread on Reddit lol. Great video, Mr. Satire, I mean Sathre. Great store that Wild River is as well!!! Go there, buy there and tell others!!
They even posted on their Facebook page asking for their shoes back😂
This video is actually wild man. Admitting to theft on a TH-cam video is hilarious
The word you're struggling to articulate is theft. This is fucking insane.
