This is talent. Listen to it until you understand. Not the freaks that stand up at the grammys an brit awards and shout about politics...these guys had real talent
I swear to God, I have NEVER seen a woman as beautiful as this! I know "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder, but I have analyzed this woman from every angle, and the result is the SAME!
Lena Horne was a proud African American woman who had to deal with obnoxious racists all throughout her life and career. She was a magnificent soul filled with the grace of her Afrikan foremothers and fathers. Her people, whom she loved, will always honor her as the Black Queen that she was. Thank You Ancestor, Lena Horne!!!
There will never be another Lena Horne I was so fortunate to experience her in a LIVE performance on Broadway. Nothing beats a great experience. I carry that memory always.
I remember the anticipation I had for this grand TV special! It watched with my brother, Mother & Father, who are all gone now. Those were the days; when the stars did these TV specials, Sinatra, Louie Prima, Miss Ella, Nancy Wilson, Jack Jones...we watched them all. Just the music and these magnificent stars--no gimmicks, no CGI, just mood lighting, beautiful voices and great interpretation. And when they sang your favorite song..."heaven!" Thanks for this post Madame Butterfly :).
What a voice, what a woman, what a legend. The angels cried when she passed. I remember seeing her interview with Mike Wallace - her career was reborn - again. She never really stopped working but somehow she seemed to get her second wind. I think if her health had been better she would have worked well into her nineties. She was an incredible women. The videos sadly are grainy because they're second generation. I remember when this aired. It made you very emotional because you knew that time was not long for Lean, Ms. Horne, because she was ill. You can't see it but she was a physically gorgeous woman. And she exuded such confidence. Black women of the '40's and '50's looked up to Ms.Lena, as well they should. She was incredible!
Lena appears to have had a facelift at this period. But that's just fine. When you have that kind of etherial beauty you are suppose to try and preserve it. I love you Lena. RIP

Well she was healthy shorty beforr she died. She retired and stay home thats why we didnt see her
She became a recluse. Her daughter Gail had lunch with her every day.

A lot of black women did not like her. Ethel Waters was hateful and jealous of her.

Are there any Supper Clubs around anymore?
yes of course but they are beginning to fade from view.

No matter the price of a ticket she always seemed to give twice or more as that in performance
Even in higher age she impresses with her clear and standing voice when she obv. has some physical problems.

No face lift, just, natural beauty and good lighing
She has naturally high cheekbones.
She said on TV many years ago that she did have a neck tuck/lift and the best investment she had ever made...I always remembered that.
