What a great session, excellent questions from the audience and seeing two of my "heroes" answering them. These guys, along with Brad Martin from Tactical Keychains, have got me to the point where I am ready to order my Tormach and start my own machining business. There's quite a few of them here in Australia now apparently. Hoping I can make it across to the States in a year or two for a Tormach open house.
The two Johns have even managed to shift me away from Inventor / EdgeCAM to Fusion 360! Integrated CAD/CAM can't be beaten.

Thanks for having the open house! I gleaned so much, it really solidified my agenda
towards my own small business and partnership with using Tormach tools and equipment. Was a pleasure to meet both John's as I thought they did a bang-up job at this short discussion forum. Was great meeting many other like-minded people there as well, including Tormach staff - much learned as I said before.

That was really helpful. Thank you to both of you for your generosity in sharing your process. To John/NYCCNC - I have to second the gentleman who asked if you would do some more Sprutcam demos. I learned more on how to use Sprutcam from you than everyone else combined. Thanks.

I will be at the next open house! John and John (John squared?) are gret salesmen for your product. I especially identify with John Saunders. Great job having them tell their stories. Thank you

Huge thanks to both of you guys as well as Tormach. The knowledge you both share from a hands on experience as well as how you run your businesses is priceless. I hope you will keep up with the instructional do and don'ts videos I just love them. Just wish I'll be able to get my hands on one of those mills but unfortunately, budget is pulling in the opposite direction...

Great video guys. I use Inventor. I'll have to check out Fusion 360. Hoping to have a Tormach some time next year.

The liability question is one I too would like more discussion around.

Fail quickly. I have an internal clock that gives me a feel for how much time I can spend on a process or attempting to do things. There are things that I never quit on but there has to be a limit on time you spend looking for a fastener or something little like this. Go ahead and quit that line and pick up a different try or move on to something else and sometimes the right fastener will just pop up on it's own. Learning what these times are and learning to say no to things that aren't going to result in the outcome you want is something that can't be taught. Don't wast time trying to figure it out, just set aside a little time everyday and go over what you've done that day and see what decisions got good results and which could be improved on. Make sure it's only a small amount because you can make this part of the day too much of your day. Best of luck. "just do it" and be OK with some failures, that's how you learn.
