    To make this adult fancy… use a splash of caramel extract and a splash of bourbon (when making the caramel sauce. Use dark chocolate 70% chips (Trader Joes has them) for the choco layer. Pecans and a sprinkle of Himalayan salt like you suggested brings out the above flavors. It’s stellar.

      I messed it up because i forgot what caramel looks like and there was a picture included in the recipe that i was looking at and I assumed it was what the crackers should look like before to go to the oven (when actually it was what they look like after you added chocolate). So I thought i had to put a whole lot of brown sugar on the crackers, and then when the 1 cup of the recipe wasn't enough, I assumed that I had more crackers than the people in the recipe so I added two cups of brown sugar and butter. Then after obviously I made it burn, it was all black.
      Okk i never bake i was trying to do smt for my roommates 😭😭 second attempt today lol with a video to help this time

I LOVE saltine crackers, I LOVE caramel (I know this is toffee, but still similar to caramel) and I LOVE chocolate. I learned that this is also called "PMS Bars" by some ladies, for obvious reasons LOL

      @@SugarSpunRun the toffee layer actually slipped under the crackers! It coated the entire bottom 🙂 i just didn't want the crackers hanging out.

    WARNING****** If you use Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips for this recipe it will fail, they do not melt correctly and instead just clump.

      So frustrating, I think they changed their formula.

      My chips wouldn’t melt... this recipe is a standard party fare for our family, but a first time I’ve had this happen... must just be another “COVID”...thing

      Honestly I think a lot of the big name chips changed their formula 😔

    Never use foil and butter it's a complete waste of your time always parchment paper

    • @SugarSpunRun
      @SugarSpunRun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you can get your parchment paper to go up the sides of the pan so nothing leaks under that will work just fine.
