    Thanks Dave!...I first really started to appreciate Mr. L when he would appear on the old Johnny Carson show, The dude was so warm and unself-concious that it's hard not to like him, Plus, as you said, even under ll the pressure of live TV etc, he was always poised, gracious and a brilliant keyboard player!

    Dave: Another home run. Well thought out and well executed. A great addition to your master class series. When is someone going to do a Dave Frank master class?

    Thank you Dave for doing this! I loved it! I remember being fascinated by his runs when he performed on TV when I was a kid. I'm one of the few who visited the Liberace museum in Vegas before it closed. :-) There was a lot of precision underneath the camp!

    Ah, my favourite tune, the demented housewife aka saber dance.
    And that's his brother George. The one in the middle with maracas.
    You nailed everything about that genius that appealed. I loved him so much.
    As for grooving, I do believe it was Bill Halley who set that off.

    This is great I enjoyed it thoroughly. How did Liberace play that way? It's almost supernatural. What a great talent! Thanks for a great video.

    Dave, it really sounds like you're bagging on the guy for his showanship. He was a consummate etertainer.....extravegant? you bet, but he wouldn't have been able to accomplish any of it without a MASSIVE amount of talent. We can't ALL be Oscar or Bill Evans....

    • @DaveFrank

    True story: I won an international piano competition at age 16. My partner Billy and I went to Vegas and Lee had us over to his home for lunch and I got to play some of his pianos. I was away from my biological family on that trip and so we could "camp" it up a bit. Lee was a hysterical and gracious host. I played my versions of Tenderly, Laura and Misty which he loved and that inspired me to continue to record cocktail piano jazz similar to Lee's style. My favorite line (because I was under drinking age was "Oh dear, a cherry in my Shirley Temple .. a homosexual nightmare. " LOL. I was hoping to get Lee to play Midnight on the Cliffs for me but he never played his pianos at home. He made a fabulous lasagna for us.. and was so sweet because I'm vegetarian.. His dogs though annoyed the shit out of me.. because I'm not a pet person and his poodles were jumping all over me. Definitely a fascinating human being. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet him. It was only about 4 or 5 years before his passing.

    Hi Dave your channel helped me so much! I wanted to ask you I am a classical pianist and i realized how important is the inner hearing and imagination to develop great technique... But I wanted to ask what exercises and resources you can recommend me to really see some progress and become better at it?
    Hope for your answer!

    hey dave frank can you play in a liberace type style on an electrical piano like I have
    thanks for this video its been helpful I have been playing piano since December and I started at my current age at 22 and I am wondering if it is possible so that I don't have to worry about an acoustic piano being moved to my basement because it might be a pain

    • @DaveFrank
      @DaveFrank  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This style would sound kinda cheesy on an electric piano but you can try..
