      You are super welcome! When I started this channel nearly 2 years ago now, that was the kind of content I wanted to see. Not people talking theoretically, I wanted to see real world investments and breakdowns. See the real wins and losses so I could make my decisions. Like if you were chatting with a friend and showing them your EE portfolio on the screen and chatting about each company and what you thought was good and bad. And growing wealth together. So I'm really glad that you're enjoying that 😁!! Thank you!

    I always enjoy seeing your notification of a new video 😄! Thank you, very inspiring. What does Tyme Bank pay on savings? You said 7-11%?

    • @CasualCash
      @CasualCash  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah thanks so much. Glad you're enjoying the videos 😊 Yes so the lowest rate you get with Tyme Bank is 7%, which builds up after a couple of months. But Tyme has a program where if you bank with them transactionally it goes up, such as having your salary deposited into your Tyme account. Things like that, if you do all of them it brings it up to 11%. So it's actually a great bank for savings interest 🙌

    Hey. Thanks for an awesome video. Always look forward to your updates. Can you give more information on the interpersonal loan part of your portfolio where you pay yourself instead of a bank. I’m intrigued.

    • @CasualCash
      @CasualCash  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for this 😊 Let me try again. So if I have R200K in a savings account I am earning 8% positive interest. But if I owe R100K on my car, I'm 'losing' 13.5% interest. So I'm losing interest by keeping it in savings. So I'll transfer R100K from savings, to pay off R100K from Wesbank/Car Loan.
      THEN, I pay myself back monthly. So if I'm saving R2,000 in my monthly Wesbank payment, I pay myself back and I charge myself 9% interest. It's all tracked on a spreadsheet. So instead of owing Wesbank, I owe myself the R100K and pay myself back.
      So I'm saving 13.5% interest from Wesbank, and because I'm charging myself 9% on my spreadsheet. I am making more interest than keeping that money in savings, but less than owing 13.5%.
      So simply, I borrow R100K from my savings, pay off my car, then pay my savings account back monthly with interest to myself.
      I hope that makes better sense 😄. If it doesn't, let me know and maybe I should then put it together better in a video with some graphics 😄

    Great video man! So I'll surely subscribe 😃
    Quick question though, as someone who's about to enter their thirties, and only now wanting to get into investing, if I wanted to replicate your exact Easy Equities portfolio, would you advise I should?? (I know you're not a financial advisor, but I'd like to know your answer/opinion; and I have a bit of disposable income that wouldn't hurt me if anything bad were to happen in the markets so don't worry I won't come screaming saying you advised me wrongly lol). 🤙🏾

    • @CasualCash
      @CasualCash  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahahaha thank you so much 😄 great comment. I'm really glad you asked that. Well there are two answers, obviously I'm biased because I think it is quite a nice portfolio 😄. But I actually wouldn't necessarily advise to copy it exactly. For a couple reasons. The first is that if you're starting out, and maybe don't have R260K (maybe you do) you would likely be spreading yourself thin to try and invest in all of them. To start off with, it is probably better to focus on a few good ones. Which I'll give feedback on now. The second reason is that there are some of my investments which are situational. Where I invested because there was an opportunity at the time that there no longer is. For eg some of my UK stocks I invested when their market was down in Oct last year when they had some prime minister issues. It is 30% up, but won't have the same returns now.
      So I wouldn't copy exactly, if it were me I would start with some solid stocks or ETF's, and build those up. And in time see what others you are interested in to add. So perhaps to start with S&P500, or maybe Schwab Dividend Equity ETF.
      I think the main problem is spreading too thing trying to copy exactly. But could definitely take a few you like and slowly build up good positions in it.
      Hope this was some good feedback. But just investing to start with is amazing and wishing you the best of luck. Anymore questions just shout 😊

    Hi Chris, great video as usual. Been following your videos for a while. One question, Any reason you moved away from Tyme bank?

    • @CasualCash
      @CasualCash  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Brilliant question. Yes there is a reason, but nothing bad. Simply Investec was offering 8.15% interest and Tyme Bank the highest I could get was 7%, without having to change me banking over to them. So simply it was just better interest and income at Investec for now. But Investec is linked to the prime interest rate, so one day when interest rates come down, it can come down back to 3.5% and then Tyme will be higher so I'll probably move back at that time. 😊

      Two seperate things 😊

    • @matthewp3613
      @matthewp3613 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CasualCash thank you very much. I understand your method and agree it is a wiser way to 'borrow' money. So, in essence, your savings are roughly R200K. You decide to buy a car and pay R100K. Instead of marking that R100k as an expense, you mark it as a loan to yourself. Therefore, creating your own debt and increasing net worth.

    ❤is there a possibility of easy equities going belly up and loosing money? Why did you decide not to invest in property ? Thanks again!!

    • @CasualCash
      @CasualCash  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So there is the possibility of EE going belly up. But there is not the possibility of losing either money or shares, because of the way brokers have to be structured and report into the regulatory authorities. So EE does not hold any assets in their company, they are held separately. So the company can fail, but you will not lose your assets, you would just have to move them :)
      Property. I did invest in property previously and I sold it. There are a few reasons, but what I can tell you is that in the near future I am looking to start investing back into physical property again :) stay tuned.

So I continue to DCA in those, for exactly those reasons you mentioned. It is just the other SA shares I haven't topped up. Also, not to say that certain SA stocks are not a good investment right now. Many of them are. Just that with the limited funds to invest I put them in the USA market in the hopes of best returns. But I still think there are good returns in Satrix40 and SA in general. And yes I still DCA in Satrix40 and others 😊
