When you see all these Hawks gathered together from across the ages, one can only feel sorrow at the attitude of Dave Brock towards these great musicians & performers. Otherwise it could be such an amazing Hawk Family get together! R.I.P. Barney & Nik 😢
OMG Nik's gone...I had no idea till this second. Brocks attitude to the whole Hawk entity was despicable. No wonder so many said they'd refuse to even shake hands with him & bagged him out of the Hawkwind doco with Michael Morcock & all the originals like Dik Mik, Lemmy Harvey Bainbridge, Tim Blake etc because he went behind all their backs & made himself legally Hawkwind & demanded Nik Turner be banned or he wouldn't go one. Well he didn't...they picked Nik Turner whom Morcock called 'The Spirit Of Hawkwind". How Brock would fail to turn up at this memorial is absolutely beyond me! Hawkwind was the band I heard put on gigantic garden speakers in 1972 with 'In Search Of Space' coming out of it at a huge volume I still remember thinking "This is the music I've always wanted to hear, but no one's ever played!". Next week or 2 same friends of my mum gave me my 1st trip & I heard that album all trip over & over like the eternal night with The Hawks...what a magickal night...they don't make acid that strong since early to mid 70's. I've been a Hawkfan for life ever since. Even at 65 if I take mushies no matter what's on the staerio except Arthur Brown must come off & Space Ritual go on starting with 'Lords Of Light' it's completely heaven wherever you aren't lmfao!! LOVE THE HAWKS
Yeah I saw Nik Turner playing live with Kuba doing remixes in the last couple or maybe 3 years posted somewhere on Y/Tube & Niki looked fine. I still remember Brock bitching about Niki's rino-hair-do at one of their big concerts & DVD. Hawkwind legends or something.
Excuse me but whereabouts did you get this particular piece of information?Hawklords have sometimes got diverging paths to follow but they do not part as enemies nobody batted an eyelid when Lemmy left and he did not leave under a cloud either what was wrong with Dave Brock’s “attitude” I will tell you - nothing
I don’t know if members of Hawkwind are familiar with the Lord of the Rings and it’s history but a trouble making little creature called Sméagol has escaped from its confines to cause trouble within the Hawklords Kingdom he really is very nasty and very unpleasant
@@SyonNathanAaronAstinHewson From Hawkwind members speaking on this BBC Hawkwind doco that Brock demanded Niki Turner be not allowed to be on or he wouldn't attend so they didn't like that attitude & wouldn't ban Turner so Brock did a no show like he did at the Barney Bubbles memorial. Some members spoke about how disgusting that Brock dragged Turner through court over the use of rights to the name Hawkwind & which members of the band were disgusted by is where I got the info. So if you reckon Brock taking legal actions against member Niki Turner & going behind the bands back & legally copywriting the name Hawkwind very early on secretly is a good attitude it shows me a lot about your ignorance Sauron. You could've just googled it instead of resorting to snide smu innuendo's & vitriolic insults when every word I've said comes from the original band members voices which I've even left you a link to so your decidedly egocentric mind can hear it all said including Michael Morcock saying Niki Turner is the SPIRIT of Hawkwind.... th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=hawkwind+bbc+documentary+
As I approach my 70th so many memories of Barney and his amazing lighting work. I recall building (?) my own rope light back in 73 or 74 inspired by what I had seen at various Hawkwind gigs of the time. I painted some fancy lightning bolts on the walls using reflective day-glo paints in wonderful colours and even purchased a UV light to add the final touches as I rocked out to Space Ritual and anything else by the band. All played through a Marshall 100 stack! Oh how the neighbours must have loved me in our leafy London suburb! I shall now sit back and enjoy this concert and relive those wonderful days, nights and beyond! Thank you for posting.
@@Headwind-1 You are of course correct. No idea what I was thinking when I wrote my comment. Put it down to a tired old brain after a stroke a few years ago. Liquid Len was something else and it was he I mimicked with my lighting and Barney with my artwork. Thank you for correcting me. Appreciated. Perhaps I had my own Brainstorm!
As I approach my 67th one of the best experiences that formulated my mind set from 14 till now was when I was given 1/2 a strong trip for my 1st & 'In Search Of Space' was all I heard all night over & over on headphones...all I can say is.... I thought to myself.... 'This is the music I've always wanted but never heard before' Never been the same since. Thank God for the band Hawkwind & all their Friends & relations.
@@phillipbutler9575 i filmed a couple of gigs for Nik. I worked on this one, the one in Herne Bay where the final release had all camera angles on screen at the same time. Didn't like that. And also i have the tapes somewhere from when Nik supported Gong somewhere. Might have been Wolverhampton or Stourbridge. I am sure someone out there knows to which gig i am referring.
Out of the Chaos came peace but at a high price you can sell your soul for rock and roll best thing to do is go forth with valour and leave your soul somewhere safe 😊😊
Such a shame that these Hawkwind related bands are facing their grand old members passing on, just as so much great 'Hawkwind' music is being performed by them.
Great gig. Never seen before. Thanks for posting. In answer to one question, no, this is not Terry Ollis on drums. Pity about Ron Tree being in this line up. He is the only weak link. Paul.
Hey Man, I was at Westbury in 85 and it was after the Battle of the Beanfield. Everybody were licking their wound's ! To be honest I have never seen Hawkwind play so well ! ! What a night ! "Angels of Life" 1st and the wind was blowing sideways with the rain ! A time never to be forgotten ! See you on the Drove ! Ha Ha !
Pour ma part je ne retrouve pas l'esprit Hawkwind... La performance est moyenne. Mais il ne s'agit que d'un avis personnel, je serais totalement incapable d'en faire autant 😊

Ron's vocals are awful at this gig

hey frenchy . . . . .
I feel very sorry for you that you cannot lose yourself to the musical experience that is Hawkwind
There is something for everyone in the music of Hawkwind if you will only listen rhythm melody and lyrics
There is something deeply spiritual about the whole concept you are introduced to by the Hawkwind family
