I love when a good melody just delivers itself mid traffic jam!! thanks for showing us from start to finish how you brought this seed to life. Super helpful and inspiring
dude I literally just uploaded a tiktok last week sharing old voice notes I found from 2014 that were beyond cringey - glad I’m not the only one lifting the curtain hahaha great video as always!
It may be cringey, but it's so fun. I love hearing voice notes from other artists, the beginning idea to final product is such a beautiful thing to see.
Hey mate. Awesome video - great to watch you go from start to finish. I love all the sound choices you made too and the mix was sounding great. Id like to hear you work on the arrangement/hear your thoughts specifically when you are arranging these pieces as I feel, especially within this sort of indie music, arrangement can be so powerful.
That's a great point to bring up. There's so much going through my head during making these that I think I sometimes just focus on making the music instead of the actual commentary I'm providing, but that is a great thing to talk about. Next video, for sure. Thank you for the kind words as well, it really means alot!
I like writing lyrics but have never been able to make my own music, so recently I've been messing around trying to make a song and I've been struggling. Watching this made me feel motivated to go back and keep trying! Really enjoyed watching this, you earned yourself a new subscriber!
As soon as that guitar got added it instantly sounded like something Vacationer would write. Awesome video. If you haven’t listened to them, check them out !
Really amazed how you manage to quickly create such wanderful and good sounding staff. One question regarding electric guitars: are you directly going into your sound card or do you use some DI or box? I go directly into my iD22 but I always have some unwanted humms or high pitch interferences that I have to fix later in the mix... Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm going directly into my Apollo Twin X. I always get a little hum, but I try to build that as character added to the song because I never really can shake it off
Has anyone added vocals yet? If not let me know and I'll record some and send you the vocal stems and dry versions do you can build content out of it if you want
@@TrevBarnesI tried sending the Drive link for the stems to you on Instagram, but you have to approve it or something. I could also email them. Whatever you prefer.
Is the percussive section of most songs usually this extensive? I usually just use a single kit because I always want to make music that can be played live.
It depends on a producers preference, but for the most part in modern production. I personally don't make music to be played in a live setting, I stick to the recording world where I can add layers on layers. If you're going from realism, then I would say just use a single kit. However, if you find that you're recordings are missing a certain space and are falling flat, i would recommend adding layers. I think of the recording world and the live world as two completely separate beasts. The live world is meant to show the creativity and imagination in a more vulnerable setting that is a representation of their soul, whereas the recording world I believe is meant for an artist to show a representation of their mind. Two very different experiences. There's no right or wrong, being this extensive with layers is just my personal preference.
thanks! It depends on what your forte is. if you’re using a lot of virtual instruments I’d reccomend ableton, if you’re recording more live instruments I’d recommend Studio One. really all DAWs do the same thing
Chorus was amazing, great composition
YES favorite series!!!!
You make it look easy man! Great work yet again!
