I played one of my flutes in a secluded alcove in Zion National Park last Wednesday and now I'm hooked on playing out of doors. I just try to not infringe on someone else who may just want to hear nature, but if you look you can usually find a private space to play.

I've been a drummer all my life, I'm 69 now. I've wanted to switch to something more mellow. I've tried harmonica but I seem to be a bit short of breath, (maybe because of my age). Does the flute you have there take a lit of air to blow? Do you think playing a flute can actually strengthen my lungs to develope more air volume? I know what you mean about confidence, at one time, I was supper confident at playing drums while playing concerts with well known bands, but that is in the past. Confidence comes with practice. Thank you sir for your vids

I've had asthma all my life (I'm also 69.) and playing the flute really helps with developing lung capacity. Just take it slowly & build up your time. I originally found the low notes to be a bit of a challenge, but they will come, usually when you're not looking for them. Enjoy your new adventure! We're never too old or too young!!!!!

Im 76 and have two Blue Bear flutes, a rivercane a western cedar both traditional tuned plus I am getting a pocket drone also. I don't have a problem with my breath with the two I have. I don't anticipate a problem with the drone as far as breath. I have a problem with my hands they are in bad shape but had I not got the river cane flute when I did. I believe I would lost the use of my right hand the one they wanted to remove 40 years ago due to a accident. I say go for it Im glad I did.

@@vernonsteinkamp1088 I've had my flute ( first Native American flute) since Jan. of this year. I live in Canada & for a variety of reasons it was important to me to support a Canadian Native American flute maker. I'm currently looking at Blue Bear's pocket drone, Little People flute, & a couple of others. Enjoy your journey with the flute. Blessings.

Charlie, I know this video was made a year ago, but I just got a flute given to me by a fellow who makes flutes. I didn't know enough to ask him any questions about it. He said "just play it like a recorder." I have been viewing different videos on playing flutes. I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with this 83 year old newbie. I am subscribed to your videos.

The story about Weird Al reminded me that I went to college at Texas Tech and one of the dorms was "famous" for the fact that John Denver had practiced guitar in the stairwell. Lots of corners and flat cinderblock walls.

Also an empty garage has great acoustics. I used to play my acoustic guitar in there not my electric, too loud. Your spot on about the bathroom, all that tile just bounces the sound around 👍 take care and peace ✌😊
