  • This is an eight week follow up post thyroid radio frequency ablation. In this video we clearly illustrate the high vascularity seen in the thyroid tumor And in just 8 weeks later the vascularity is almost resolved. The tumor volume has also decrease by 14%. Patient has continued to follow up at three months and six months and one year. This video demonstrates how successful thyroid radio frequency can be for patients who have an isolated tumor within the thyroid gland.

Awesome. For cancer now too. Wow. Looking forward to seeing her next follow up scan. I hope in the future removal of thyroid will be a thing of the past!

This patient’s thyroid cancer is no longer visible. She is considered cure. Her neck ultrasounds are unremarkable and is her neck, CT pet scan.

This patient’s thyroid cancer is now cured and no longer visible. She is now three years post frequency ablation on her thyroid ultrasound, including her neck PET scan shows complete resolution.

I know this was posted a while ago, but may I ask what characteristics your nodule had. My sister had thyroid cancer and I went to go get my neck ultrasound and they discovered a 5mm irregular hypochoic coarse classification nodule that they sent for a biopsy and it came back undiagnostic due to the size of the nodule. My doctor recommended another ultrasound between 6months to a vear to see if it grows but my concern due to the features of the nodule and family history is that it will be cancer. My sister when she first discovered her nodule was small 4mm and after two biopsies came back negative, a year later it had grown and when biopsied a third time ended up being cancer. I wonder if RFA would be a good treatment currently so I can zap it and zap it and hopefully it will disappear after the RFA or cause it to stop growing!

When the first biopsy was nondiagnostic, she should’ve undergone a second biopsy surely, after. The characteristics of the ultrasound per your description was quite concerning therefore, not surprised it came back as thyroid cancer.

@@Pezhman101 mine hasn’t came back as cancer doctor. With those features and the first biopsy showing nondiagnostic, I went for a repeat ultrasound and the nodule was still 5mm irregular solid hypoechoic nodule with coarse calcification anterior calcification and posterior shadowing and nodule was wider than tall. It had not changed in size but was rebiopsied a second time and that biopsy came back as low cellularity specimen but showed as benign follicular nodule. It said that the specimen was demonstrating occasional fragments of follicular epithelium. I am still concerned that because it is low cellularity that something was missed due to all the cancerous features of the nodule that were described in this post and the post which you responded to from 5 months ago. Being that my sister had thyroid cancer and had a small nodule at the time of diagnosis, does that mean that since I had a non diagnostic biopsy the first time, and a low cellularity specimen with benign results this second time that this nodule could still be cancerous doctor? Please help? I am really interested in doing RFA and would like to know what type of nodule I am dealing with based on your knowledge from the results of my biopsies? Thank you in advance Doctor!

@@Pezhman101 Any update since Dr. Nikravan? My wife needs your feedback, she is considering the same treatment for a papillary thyroid cancer of comparable size.
