  • This is a short introduciton video showing you initial results of Slugs through a sub 12 ft/lbs rifle. The slugs are swaged in design and made by Pro-Hunter, weighing 13 grains. Initial tests are very promising and could be a great vermin control solution. 100 slugs cost around £10, plus around £5 postage, so work out at approximately 15p per shot, so although expensive for range work, are more than good value for vermin or rabbit control permissions. In the next videos I will try them through different rifle barrels and see if they perform as a hollow point should.

    Great to know was on the fence with slugs .. wasn't to fussed on the weight as my umarex syrix really likes the jsb beast at 16.20 grain was more concerned with the size and shape but glad to know they will run through a 177 ..

      There was plenty of room in the magazine for them, and they weren't a tight fit either.

    I have tried the premium .177 13gr slugs in my hw110, avg 560fps around 9.4fpe, good groups tested 20yds in the garden, been out after bunnies best was 41yds dropped it o the spot hw110 and atn 4k pro using ballistic calculator...
    Keep up the good testing 👍

      It's good to know that slugs actually work in sub 12 ft/lbs rifles. Maybe .177 is the best, as .22 and higher means a lot more weight. At least with .177 it keeps them within the boundaries of .22 as far as the weight goes. As long as they are accurate they should do well in the wind.

      @@airgunsniper-elite7385 they work to a degree but at 9.4fpe they don't expand nowhere nearly enough as they are designed to do, but i didnt expect that to be honest, they expanded a little at 15- 20yds but nowhere near mind-blowing, it was worth it for a test and a bit of fun tho...

    10grn slugs .. I'll check em out , gonna try a load of new pellets in my rifles , starting with some Russian pellets me daughters bought me for crimbo .. probably be awful , but at £7 for 150 I'd expect some sort of half descent accuracy ..

      I ordered some pellets yesterday called Scinco I think they are called. It was in a bog off deal and they look a lot like the Hornet pellets. They sound Russian, are they the same? Here's the link: www.pelletperfect.co.uk/black-friday.html

    Where do you get 10 grain slugs from?

    Form your experience. What is the best distance for a .177 sub 12ft air rifle to shot with accuracy. What would be the distance where the groups would start to open up. I am just curious. Sin i don't have any experience with sub 12ft air rifles. Would 60 yards be over kill.

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For accuracy the .177 is a lot easier to achieve because it shoots a lot flatter, but 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards would be the norm in .177. If you are talking about long range hunting, check out Vermin Hunters TV on TH-cam with Si Pittaway. He regularly kills rabbits out to 70 yards. If you check out som of my older videos I am shooting 1 inch reset spinners out to 100 yards, which is the norm at our rifle range at Tinsley Park Shooting Club in sub 12 ft/lbs. Baring all this in mind. Although our legal limit is 12 ft/lbs, most factory rifles are only achieving between 10.5 and 11 ft/lbs depending on the pellets used. As with Si Pittaway above, he has his rifles tuned to 10.5 ft/Lbs, but still achieves accuracy and kills out to 70 yards. In my Covid Diaries series of videos a lot of the rifles tested at the range were shooting out to 90 and 100 yards at reset targets, although at this level the wind is a massive factor.

    hi mark how do you think they will do in the hatsan at44.ive just orders them.the standard ones to test.also mark where can i get the 10 grain slugs to try myself.

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think they should do well. They don't seem to be fussy about the barrels that I have used so far, and they are Lothar Walther, Cold hammer forged BSA and the old Brocock which used HW barrels. Let me know how you get on with your Hatsan when you test them, but I expect they will do well.

      Yes, a bit deceaving, but even with the flyer to the left its still 4mm within a 5p piece. Should be good in the wind as well due to the shape and weight. Certainly a heavy hitter.
