I just did the same thing you did with a spring reseed and I have a few thin spots. I will definitely be trying this! Thank you!! Great stuff! I’m a fellow PNW lawn guy! Love the channel
Turned out great! Something I need to try in my lawn too, especially after this heat. Looks like we’re about a week away from high temps back in the 70’s for a little while
I think I’ve only seen this method all of ONE other time before lol this is actually a brilliant idea. And it doesn’t seem to damage the seed being moved and knocked around! I like the caution tape around the whole area I should have had that this weekend 😖. Anyway, yard is looking good!
@@PacificNorthwestLawns yeah I hear ya there! Just what you need is a super highly concentrated liquid nitrogen application in one spot on the baby grass 😆
Thanks Scott. The day after I wrapped this video up it hit 110*. The following day it 113*. The yard took a beating from that. I'm working on trying to save it.
Nate, timing of this be perfection. Local utility be tearing up me lawn for new gas lines, all the hard work in tatters. Give er a go at this method have a task ahead. Bin getting buckets of rain here. Cheers mate good work goes on here!
Thanks for sharing dude I’m going to try this out in the fall for these stubborn areas at the end of the hill that keep getting wash away. I feel it would work even better w kbg:)
Nice job Nate when I first started to watch the video I was wondering how the new Grass was handling this heatwave we are getting glad to see how well you doing with the front renovation it's going to be a brutal summer this year stay cool
@@PacificNorthwestLawns I've been on my three days a week plus I'm running a Short watering in the late evening it's definitely helping I had to do extensive repair work this spring had a bug infestation it's almost fully repaired still have a few in the back that are not where I would like it to be I hit the back pretty heavy with the bio-stim pack I'm sure it has helped tremendously when the heat breaks it might be something to think about
I am really impressed with the results especially with the record temps you are having. I have a few spots on my lawn that are taking a pounding with this heat but I can't fix them like that with the KBG. I could cut out and re sod them but color wouldn't match and don't feel like going through that right now. Will see how bad it gets for the next two months and address it in the Fall if I am up to it. Your lawn is looking great even with the Spring reno :)
Sometimes ya use what's available to you. 😉 The hand spreader was free and I got the reel mower off of FB market place really cheap. I have zero intentions of keeping it either.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns 😂 I got the same hand spreader for free, and the same reel off of Nextdoor Neighborhood for $50 😂😂😂 I might also have a Scott's mini😂
i came accross a pregermination videos using milorganit. actually the milorganite site has a write up on how to do it. you actually soak the seed wrapped in cheese cloth ..i used a paint strainer bag from lowes....in a bucket of water for a number of days then mix with milorganite and spread. 5 days for KBGand 3to 4for fescue. put it down 2 days ago and used penningtons slope master tackifier since it's on a slight slope. hoping for great results. we have a week off 70s and some rain
We’ve been having 93+ degrees here and humid ( actually felt like 104+). Those brown thinning spots on my lawn are getting larger and larger, about 1/2 of my lawn already. Not much to do, too much heat for baby grass to survive?
Or not enough water... in extreme heat you probably want to get 1/2" of water down every morning and small syringes of water in the heat of the day to cool the turf and soul down.
I noticed you put that soil and seed mixture in gently. Did it take properly or do you feel like you needed to push it in a little more? Maybe walk on it or gently tamp it with a piece of wood or something? Maybe a lawn roller not filled with water?
How’d everything hold up after the heat wave breaking on Tuesday? Parts of my lawn got torched. Some recently reseeded areas didn’t make it. I’ve got some stress recovery work to do.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns This all would have been better if I didn’t do spring seeding. But, just like you, my need to seed was the result of a battle with poa trivialis and poa Annua. It’s all more challenging without automatic irrigation. I’m hoping to have everything dialed in so I can do fall preemergent applications.
I'd do it again but I also don't recommend a spring or especially a summer renovation unless there's some reason you absolutely cannot do it in the fall.
I left it in the garage and it germinated just fine however I would suggest giving it some sunlight. I didn't need to constantly water it. I wet it once after the initial time just to keep it moist.
That turned out to be an awesome method of pre-germinating the seed for patch work. Well done.👊😎🌴
It worked really well. 👊🏼

Thanks Travis. It worked really well. I'd definitely wait until this heat wave has completely passed though.
Definitely! Man that was insanely hot! Thankfully I have a good amount of shade so my grass was able to withstand the heat might reseed next week.
Super glad you found it helpful and it worked out awesome for ya! Thanks for the shoutout! lawn is looking great!

I did the caution tape when I reseeded the entire yard mostly to keep dogs off it and people from walking on it.

What a great technique for small Patches. I bet you are using tons of water with the heat wave there. Stay cool brother-in-lawn. 😂 😎

Good video and great idea. I love Scott’s lawn soil too!
The lawn soil wasn't terrible but for the price of the 1 cu ft bag I can get about 1/3 a yard of stuff locally mixed. You pay for convenience I guess.

@@PacificNorthwestLawns those kind of numbers just seem too crazy to even fathom. And im near chicago, where we get 90-100 every summer.

Solid info 👍🏽Lawn looking great, how’d it hold up during that heat wave y’all had?
Not terrific. I'm editing a video about that now. I should have it done later today or tomorrow.

Light pressure is fine no matter how you want to achieve it.
How’d everything hold up after the heat wave breaking on Tuesday? Parts of my lawn got torched. Some recently reseeded areas didn’t make it. I’ve got some stress recovery work to do.
Exactly the same. Some damage I'm hoping will recover. I'll likely do a video on that next.

We're on identical plans. I'll find ya on FB on show you what I'm dealing with. Hopefully yours isn't as bad as mine.
great ideal i'm trying this but did you mix up more during those 3 days ?
Nope. Didn't really need it.
Few pieces of glass in my seed no biggie 😂😂🤣🤣
All tge reviews I read about that stuff I was expecting it to be a lot worse
So would you do that again or would you just throw down seed as normal for spring summer reno?
I'd do it again but I also don't recommend a spring or especially a summer renovation unless there's some reason you absolutely cannot do it in the fall.
For the pre-germinate period do you put it inside or outside? Do you need to constantly water the mixed to keep it moist?
