No I think they're just warning America to stop pushing further, lest they instigate a reaction and provoke ww3. They've been telling America to stop for decades actually, in all three of those cases you listed (DPRK, China, Russia)
This is called "nuclear deterrance" and is the most basic concept behind nuclear weapons.

I lived in South Korea for a little bit. One Saturday morning, I woke up to air raid sirens. I thought about it for a minute, and decided it would be best to just go back to sleep and be incinerated.
When I woke up again I was so confused. Turns out it was some sort of war memorial event. I don’t see how turning the air raid sirens on for the veterans is helpful in any way shape or form.
I cannot believe North Korea would turn out this way after creating a massive fanbase, shame on you, Kimmy.

It's all empty boasting and most people in the military know it because we are alerted every time north Korea makes a threat, not just when the news finds it convenient, so we know the flow of events.

It's not the NK missiles, it's he Japanese government. What a better way to make people pay more taxes, than to make them fear for their lives? China is a much more realistic threat, but it's NK that gives them the opportunity to sound the alarm. The Japanese government knows exactly where the ICBM is going to fall, it's not like it can maneuver around like a cruise missile; they're sounding the alarm for pure propaganda reasons.
The Hawaii alert error is actually something I still remember and not for the reason you may think. Someone in Hawaii had posted anonymously on the internet about it when it happened, admitting that they and their sister saw it and thought they were going to die, so they said fuck it and had sex....only to realize it was a false alarm....lmao imagine having to live the rest of your life knowing you pounded your sister in a moment of life ending desperation.

I was apart of CERF-P for the army national guard. That is the response force for a nuclear, biological, or chemical disaster/attack. The map you showed for the initial blast is interesting, but it neglected what happens after the fact. The wind will blow contaminated particulate matter, and you’ll get something that looks like a candle. Everything in that candle becomes contaminated. My specific job in CERF-P was decontamination. So I’d be sitting at the very edge of the contaminated territory, the rescue teams would go in with hazmat suits to get people, and bring them to us, where we decontaminate them to the best of our ability before sending them to medical for evaluation. Unfortunately, in a scenario like this, you cannot get real medical help for your injuries until you have been decontaminated, else you put everyone else at risk as well. But rest easy knowing there are several response forces around the US training on a regular basis for such a disaster, so ideally we can minimize the loss of life.

I spent a year and a half in SK and I fell in love with everything there and have so many great memories. The thought of the war starting up again would be heartbreaking.
As an American, I find nuclear warfare incredibly stupid. I find it stupider how apologist online try to justify it. You’re willing to risk starting a whole war and killing billions of people and turning our planet in an uninhabitable wasteland all because of political ideology. One of the reasons why I hate politics in general.
I moved to Aomori last year. It's the prefecture right below Hokkaido. I got a ballistic missile alert in my phone as I was about to go to work and heard sirens (last fall). The alert told us to go inside. I texted my Japanese supervisor about it and he said to go to work normally....💀 It seems the people here, at least where I live, are so desensitized to it that it's not a good excuse to arrive late to work.

Hey Muta I really want to say I appreciate the positive stuff you said here gotta love that positive goodness
I live in Japan but in Tokyo, unfortunately this is kind of a normal thing for the guys in Hokkaido since that's usually where the missiles are sent, but they're not meant to hit, just scare people and land in the ocean. HOWEVER, it is still extremely scary because they come VERY close to the ground, so close that you can see them fly through the air with the naked eye. We still actually get phone notifications when a missile is fired over but I couldn't imagine having to deal with the very real possibility that they're flying over lower than some skyscrapers and there isn't a lot of room for error on the landings, and on a regular basis. Something is going to happen one day and NK is going to end up starting a war on accident.

Every time I get reminded that North Korea exists I wish kim and all of his family gets deleted, government overthrown, and they reconnect with the brothers down south. I often wonder wouldn't it be better to nuke them pre-emptively just to be sure, but not only is that a bit of a genocide, massive pollution, playing with fire, and whatnot, but it could just end the world... It's also sucks how nobody wants to attack them because even though I don't think it'd be the biggest issue with South Korea's proper military, the US military, probably Japanese military too, but it would either be ultra quick blitzkrieg, or they launch their nukes everywhere and nobody wants that...
@Jao Bai Dun Missiles only travel about 500 miles per hour (805ish km/hour) which is about the speed of a commercial airplane. It stands to reason if you're looking especially hard and you know where they come from that you could probably see it just the same as you can see meteors coming into Earth's atmosphere before crashing down, some of which travel a lot faster. Also you can't really link videos in YT comments, so you'll have to do your own research.

I remember living in Japan back in 2016, going to school in Tokyo. We were out on a hiking trip in the summer / fall right at the beginning of my sophomore year in the middle of the forest and we got the alert warning on our phone that NK launched missiles towards Japan. For 45 minutes we were all just... it's hard to describe. But then we got the next message saying it landed in the sea.
How was the school adjustment, always wished id gone for game design after the school i chose left me so disillusioned i left before debt accrued up. Still may go just to motorcycle north to south for my mid life crisis and see if can find a woman worth stickin around for out in the countryside.
I'm not sure if anyone remember, but I remember this same anxiety during the Iraq War when came to nuclear disaster. I confess, I'm terrified for not only myself, but my family.

The false missile strikes was something that came out of the blue, the situation might not be the same in an active war scenario. I would even argue that our world is in a far worse state geopolitically than it was in the cold-war. Because this is a conflict that has already turned very hot with invasion of Ukraine

Keeping with the british "keep calm" meme, the UK also has its own submarine-based nuclear deterrent (with one sub armed with 64-128 missiles at sea constantly), but it's also designed to continue functioning after the UK ceases to exist. this gave me hard flashbacks to back when north korea first started blasting off missiles over japan, I was on the train with my friend on my way to school and everyone got the notification at the same time. it was terrifying, the entire train went dead silent for a few seconds before someone started crying. but the day went on as usual after that. I am terrified for the day when these notifications are actually right

My roommate and I slept through that alert in Hawaii. Everyone was freaking out but a missile wouldn't hit Hawaii due to heavy military investment in anti-missile defenses.
I live in Japan. We get these alerts all the time. What’s scary is that no one cares about them because of all the false alarms.
Sad that this is the world we're living in. Once war has been declared, that's it. We're already having global warming which imo should be the world's primary focus in fixing because Earth is our home. Our only home. War will exacerbate that problem and it'll get to no point of return in restoring Earth.
If this is how it's going to be for my life, then I will cherish every moment of my life. Whether it's working out, playing video games, drawing, spending times with my friends and families. Just having a good time and die happily. Live happily with your lives everyone
