Hi there Phil, ah I see. That's a terrific idea and the price of these guitars for the build quality is truly unbeatable. Hopefully there'll be a Washburn electro-acoustic up in a few weeks :-)
Found a brand new unit at Musicians Friend currently for $499 down from $699. Thanks for the review and absolutely adore the tone and depth this guitar outputs!
Enjoyed your personality and Demo on this guitar. But it was stolen in front of my house July 18th 2021. I loved this guitar very much.It is a beautiful guitar for the price.Peace, Doc Willoughby
Hi there Doc :-) No two ways about it, these guitars are incredibly well put together and the price is unbelievable for what you get and I'm so sorry for your loss :-( All the finest woods, stereo outputs and the most beautiful sounding and playing acoustic ever. Sadly, this one doesn't belong to me, it just came in for a set-up and restring but what a joy to play. I'd be checking the local Cash Converters/Money Exchange type of places or at least alerting the local pawn shops in your area because I'd bet five shillings that'll be where it turns up. Good luck with being reunited.
I have one four years now, it's aesthetically beautiful. However I wish the middle strings had more chime/jangle for lack of a better description. Is that because it has non scalloped bracing? Does it need to be strummed harder to loosen up?
Hi there Mr Tuber :-) When this came to me it had a set of those copper wound/bronze 11's on it and sounded as dead as a doornail. I fitted Ernie Ball 10's and it transformed the sound and playability. Even with an acoustic, you still need to give those strings a good bending to settle them in. I did an acoustic restring video a while back if that would help :-)
I own one made in Indonesia, all solid wood, sounds fantastic. I use 2 Yamaha THR5A acoustic amps and split the pick up signals, it opens up the entire soundscape. I am not aware of another guitar that can perform that trick right out of the box. The nanomag is brilliant for harmonics and if you wind it up you can get electric guitar sounds going too. So start off acoustic switch to electric sounds then back to acoustic. It's wild. The THR5A also has a clean electric setting so they're not solely acoustic amps. I highly recommend splitting the signal out. I do not like the sound of just about every acoustic pick up because acoustics sound best through condenser mics but the nanoflex is the best I have heard and sounds like a condenser mic in the box. The Yamaha THR5A is inexpensive and the best sounding acoustic amp in my opinion. Splitting the out signal is a whole new world. You have to try it. The DR 500 is the best value in the industry, the nearest comparable is probably a Seagull Maritime at over $1,000 US.
Absolutely agreed, they're unbelievable value for money and the build quality is exceptional. I like the sound of your Yamaha amps, I'll be on the lookout for one of those :-)
Hi there Mr Fox :-) Over the years I've really come to love Epiphones. The build quality is always great, materials top notch and they're really easy to work on. Cheers :-)
Just bought one - it now comes with Fishman pickup though and not the fancy stereo one - anywho .. very nice vid ... you scared the bejesus out of me but my wife thought you were cool .. cheers for the insight
Hi Steve, these guitars are insanely well built - well, Masterbilt!!!! Quite frankly, I can't imagine an especially useful purpose for the stereo unless one's performing in a high-end recording studio situation. I've quite honestly very rarely come across quality like this in anything so I reckon you've got an instrument that you'll love for years to come. Please give my kind regards to Mrs Turner - she clearly has good taste :-) :-)
Blimey, that's astonishing value. If you add up what what the individual bits cost you're miles in front at that price and then we'll add in the sound quality, how great they are to play and how cool they look. Bonus, my friend :-)
These are now discontinued by Epiphone (not on the website any longer), probably in favor of the "Inspired by Gibson" line they are now featuring. Of course this couldn't be included because this was Epi's own design and it will compete with the Epi J-45 ($750) because they have nearly identical specs. My advice is get one if you still can. BUT, Caveat emptor; Many that are being sold by GC and Musicians Friend are store demos even though they might be listed as open box. I had a very bad experience with MF and had to return the one they sent me. Luckily for me another higher quality model was available (with full info re; condition) from GC. Also beware of the florida guy selling a bunch on reverb, that he got from the defect warehouse and he is not exactly forthcoming with the issues that they have. Long story short; If you can still get a good one, they are awesome! They are all solid woods, are built magnificiently, and compare well in sound to Martins and Taylors. The pick ups and the stereo option is one of a kind and such a blast to play.
Hi Charlie, I absolutely agree with every point you've made there. Trogly has also had bad experiences with MF and doesn't mind telling people about it. I'm really surprised about that "Inspired by Gibson" statement. Epiphone's owned by Gibson, or at least it was when I last looked. No two ways about it, I've never come across an acoustic that's so well built and so amazingly specced out. This one belongs to my buddy John - he picked it up for around the £450 mark. Unbelievable :-)
Agreed, but I'd have been mucking about with the kill switch and then you'd have told me to pack it in after realising it wasn't a problem with the signal, just me being a tool :-)
Here in the US. Great review. They are so good, I bought 2. I keep different strings on each one.🎸🎸

Wow! That's a steal - you've done really well there. Terrific guitars; I love them :-)
with the ESonic pickup ? Or Fishman preamp ? Made in Indonesia... or did Epiphone move these to cheap China, before they discontinued ??
