He persevered through hard work and determination. It takes courage to do that in the face of adversity and even criticism. He never put one bad word in his mouth about his critics. And there is this central belief that our Children should be greater than us irrespective of our achievements. And in return, we take care of our family, our parents and siblings, when we are in position to do so. This is what we are. Do we have exceptions? Of course, just like any other culture. We do have people who will deviate from the norms. I am happy for Giannis, his immediate and extended family.

Coach asked "if we find job to the parents will you come again?" and Giannis said yes. So it happened. For sure it is his achievement the success but in his beginning he had help. One if my favourite is that a migrant child reached the top. Greek prime minister gave him citizenship just before the trip to USA for NBA draft. He and family always been in danger to get arrested and deported. Another think I like is that he is hard worker. He can be inspiration to the young.

One good thing in America is that children born there of undocumented migrant parents are automatically citizens (though sadly, their parents can get deported!).
