YEESSSSS! Thank you for playing this video. Cry Baby is also a fantastic video. I'm 70 years old and listened to her, the Doors and Jimi Hendrix alot. Woodstock Baby!😉❤ Stay safe
Janis Joplin was a one of a kind singer with a unique voice. Sadly we lost her too soon. She was only 27 when she died. She had a lot of great songs such as "Me & Bobby McGee", "Cry Baby", "Down On Me", "Maybe", "Little Girl Blue", "Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)", "Get It While You Can", "Bye, Bye Baby", "Move Over", "Mercedes Benz" etc.
The one and only. She was a stick of dynamite. That incredible powerhouse voice coming from that little bitty girl. The first Queen of Soul. - "Piece of my Heart" - "Little Girl Blue" - "Work me Lord" - "Maybe" - "Ball and Chain" RIP, dear Janis
“There’ll never be another Joplin voice “… I’ve got to agree with you on this one. Thank you so much for this powerful reaction. Check out ball and chain Janis Joplin. Or… how about The Doors “Changeling”. Another incredible song that deserves to be remembered.
Perfect description of Janis's voice is harsh as whiskey yet smooth and sultry as honey and silk Definitely check out "Kozmic Blues" and "Work Me, Lord!" MESMERIZING vocals
I like how she turns back to the band clapping for them and showing appreciation. Not too many artists will shift the spotlight to someone else. One of a kind.
Watching people experiencing things for the first time, that I experienced as a little girl at my father’s knee, is so evocative! My father wanted me to understand just how amazing Janis was, and I hated her music at first. At around 11/12 (?) there was a PBS special on, and he had me watch one of her performances featured in it, with him. I finally understood his deep and abiding love for her music.
Some of her other songs that knock ot out of the park are "Cry Baby", "Ball and Chain live at Monterey Pop ", and "Work Me Lord". She never once put out a bad song.
I like your (and others') reactions best when you let the emotion in. Watching and hearing someone do this is, to me, anyway, a powerful emotional thing. Did you feel it?
"me & bobby mcgee" was written by an absolute legend - kris kristoffersen - janis learned it in secret to surprise him with (they were friends, they dated, they were friends). she recorded it for her band's next album. and then she died. that night was the first time kristoffersen heard her version. and he knew it would forever belong to her
Me & Bobby McGee which was written by Kris Kristofferson, the man who can do anything: military pilot, Rhodes Scholar, recruited to teach English Lit at West Point, and disowned by his family when he gave that up to follow his dream in Nashville where he swept floors and finally landed a helicopter in Johnny Cash's yard to get his attention. Kris went on to sing, act and write some of the most beautiful and emotionally intelligent lyrics of his time. He wrote Bobby McGee which has been covered by many but Janis may have made it No. 1 first. Help Me Make It Through the Night and Sunday morning Coming Down are awesome Kris K. songs.
That woman gave it her all every performance! Heart & Soul baby! ❤ Cry Baby ....Me & Bobby McGee....Piece of My Heart.....there are so many! Just choose one and go from there..... you can't possibly pick a bad one in my opinion.
I suggest that you now go for a COMPLETELY different version of "Summertime", but equally sublime and a great classic rendition: the 1958 (yes, 66 years ago!) version by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I still get chills, goosebumps, and electric shocks every time Ella's voice comes in. Every. Time!
hello dear!! you almost got it right for the 60s, good music and a lot of acid, on my part anyway! lol!! 72yo now and life is still a fkn trip, just sayin'. love your reactions!!!! kathleen
my favorite Janis Joplin songs would include... 1 "Get It While You Can" 2 "Codine" 3 "Move Over" 4 "Cry Baby" 5 "Piece of My Heart" 6 "Down on Me" 7 "Little Girl Blue" 8 "Kozmic Blues" 9 "Try" 10 "Maybe"
Shortly after my parents married they moved to Houston. They actually met her at a couple of parties. My somewhat conservative dad didn't like her, he thought she was "too forward " with men. My mom was always the less judgemental of the two.
I'm from the 60's and it was Schroons and weed, lol Thank you Sir for your reaction hope you have a blessed evening 🙏 sending love from Lafayette Georgia 🍑
If she smoked I never saw her smoking she had a soft voice when she wanted it to be soft and she had a high voice when she wanted one of the greatest artists ever
I love your stuff. Do "Little Girl Blue" by Janis. There's a wonderful live version on the Tom Jones Show here on TH-cam. I PROMISE you'll be delighted.

Mercedes. Was the last song she ever recorded. And another favorite is Me and Bobby Magee.
Some of her other songs that knock ot out of the park are "Cry Baby", "Ball and Chain live at Monterey Pop ", and "Work Me Lord". She never once put out a bad song.

Wow
I wish more reactors would listen to the vastly superior studio version on the "Cheap Thrills" album instead of this one. Live isn't always better.
