I don't know if it's for a specific project the way that Night and Falling Up are for Tower of God, or if it's just showing off how SKZ are *giant nerds* (I love them) but it's great.
The timing of the WHY? release was hilarious too, they released it only days after being deeply wronged by event management staff at a fan meet (I think) 😂😂

Christmal Evel is gonna become your Christmas hit once you hear it, it's a crazy one. xD The lyrics are also supreme cause it's like a critic or making fun of the Christmas Cliches. Ah, and yes, lot of their lyrics are very empowering, pushing you to express yourself, to keep going and to feel strong and not alone in "your misery", also more meaningful. I was on the fence about the japanese version of Chk Chk Boom - I listened to the whole album a couple of times yesterday and I just couldn't distance myself enough from the singing/rapping flow of the original to really enjoy this one OR to pay attention to the finer details in the music itself. Enter Tony and my brain goes "Oooh, wait a goddamned minute! They slowed it down? Sounds like it, yeah. Waaaait!! Yeah, I can't remember if I heard those sounds on the original either... YES!!! That’s what I’ve been telling Tony since Day 1 of his SKZ reactions! He needs to look at their lyrics of each song too! 😭 It’s their lyrics & worldplays that got me & turned me into a STAY! They are one of the most powerful & significant elements that set them apart from most of the other K-pop groups (besides their amazing music production of course)
Came in late, per my usual, but I love that "WHY?" is finally on an album. It may not be the title track, but re-listening to it, and then listening to "Giant" feels like a natural progression to me. Written around the same time maybe? Their Japanese albums are always so intense feeling imo (excluding the Christmas Song - no offense to Christmas lovers). This album as a whole Do Re Mi Fa King slaps so hard!
This is my interpretation of “Giant” mv and lyrics and what it’s about. In the beginning Seungmin started the song with „People think I’m big (aka. That they’ve achieved everything) but I’m small, I ain’t satisfied with the goals. (Aka. Expressing their relentless ambition and determination to achieve greatness) And then Felix followed up with “Just like a walking ant, let’s overcome the pain and become a Gi-ant” Which through out the music video they’re working hard, trying to find this magical egg which when put all together at the end, a bigger stronger egg is formed, of which a giant is born. Them but much stronger. Overcoming all obstacles, pushing boundaries with their music, they become unstoppable. Taking on the world and are ready to crush anything beneath them. “ Run, run, run before we come come come, I’m a Giant crushing worlds below” (aka. Those who try to bring them down.) Just like ants they’re always working (creating music), and just like ants, when they’re alone they’re weak but when they’re all together as a colony, they’re much stronger and unstoppable. They become a Gi-ant.

someone probably already mentioned it in your original night and falling up reaction but in falling up the lyric “I shed my blood, sweat and tears, head to the top I give it my all, I got no slump” is a reference to the previous opening and ending “Top” and “Slump” they did back in 2020 for the same anime (Tower of God). The songs were released as singles in japanese, korean, and english as well as the korean versions being included on their album Go Live (but not the repackage In Life which you listened to) they’re very good songs and especially loved by stays so if you were interested in reacting to them i know we would all love to see it! they also released instrumentals for both tracks which you might be interested in.
Yes, a lot of SKZ music is uplifting and empowering. They also do a lot talking about their own struggles (ie. depression, anxiety, etc) so they are really relatable. They write beautiful lyrics--Han's songs especially have gorgeous lyrics, he has such a way with words.
I love watching your reactions to music. You bring attention to the production of the music which I don’t always see because people get so much input with the songs and music videos. I have your videos open on a tab and I rewatch them to fall asleep at night(not in a bad way cause I listen to SKZ to fall asleep. I think it’s just the ADHD in me). Keep doing what you want cause that’s what makes your videos so enjoyable.
Ye I love skz songs but when you see the lyrics (the lyric videos are great for this) they hit deeper 100%… I wasn’t sure about giant the first time I listened but I’ve now listened to it about 50000 times 😂 and it is my new fave.. the music video is like an actual movie it’s 🔥. And everytime you comment you made about Christmas songs made me certain you’re going to LOVE Christmas evil it’s an absolute banger.. would def recommend lyrics for that one too. For this Christmas song Bangchan wanted a song that you can hear everywhere, like do you know when you go to mall e there is a Christmas playlist playing? I think that is because of this the song is more calm and soft
Yeah. Most of SKZ songs have positive lyrics. If you want to know what a song is saying, and there isn't a English version to listen to, just find a color coded lyric video. They won't always be accurate on who is singing, but the translations are mostly right. Loved going through the album with you. It was fun seeing your reactions.
Thanks for reacting Tony! I really liked how you handled re-listening to the different language versions, pulling different aspects of it and diving into the lyrics for English versions. One of the reasons I love Stray Kids is there's just so many layers to appreciate. They put such effort and care into every detail.
Watching your videos has given me a new appreciation for their music. I’ve always loved it as a whole but have never given a lot of thought to all of the small things in the music. Now when I listen to them I pick out things you’ve mentioned. It’s really cool.
I loved how you described polyrhythms in a way that made total sense!! I believe in the part you were referencing in WHY, the snare and bass are maybe playing the same rhythm, but just offset from each other? It has an rhythmic feel because snare hits are rather on the offbeats.

Aiwokuretanoni naze 愛をくれたのに、なぜ means something like 'why did you give me your love' and with parts like 'love is painful' this is a nice contrast to christmas love where it's "all about Love" with such cute and innocent lyrics about love 🥰 So yeah not all of their songs have those typical uplifting or 'we are the best' type of lyrics, even though there are a lot 🔥
If you want a skz Christmas song…Christmas EveL is the way to go! It has an MV and it’s a full album! The other songs are more ballad type but Christmas evel is chefs kiss - definitely recommend the MV too!

@tonystocco makes perfect sense, as soon as I saw it I was like, yep, ant to a giant. The scale is so hard to comprehend, pictures never do it justice. I saw climbers setting up a suspended camp for the night, and they were tiny specks against the rock.

since you like the lyrics for night and falling up, i really encourage you to check out the lyrics for a lot of their songs. skz from the very beginning has written a lot about overcoming struggle, and living with it, as well, and the fears and doubts they've had. they've been very open with their own experiences of depression and anxiety and their own struggles to find who they are, which is a huge reason their music has become so popular because it's so relatable on top of being an auditory feast ever album. aside from their strong emotional message and support, their lyrics are also absolutely filled with wordplay and puns and jokes (often backed up again by music video visuals), which can make digging into lyrics along with the videos and the music itself really fun, finding all the little things they've sprinkled in just for fun

As an anime fan, this album is so fun to listen to. Three of the songs (Night, Falling Up, and Why) were written as anime OSTs, so the "new" songs on the album also have an anime OST feel (with a Christmas song thrown in for fun). I could definitely see Giant and Saiyan as the intro to an action anime and other song (which roughly translates to "you gave me your love, why") would be a great intro for a romance/school days anime. Even though it's different from their other albums, I love the theme of this release. The guys sound great and I even like the Christmas song 😄

Would love you to revisit some of their songs with lyrics (English translation). There are color coded lyric videos, where it shows who’s singing and is translated into English. Especially with songs like Silent Cry, the lyrics are very hard hitting. Also recommend listening to SKZ-replay (preferably with lyrics too), it’s like a collection of their SKZ-records that they’ve released on TH-cam only throughout the years in one album. There’s plenty of their solo works and songs in groups of three or duets in the album.

I think when you listen to GIANT more you will like it more. I immediately picked up Changbin in the second voice scaling down while he was rapping with the high pitch noise in the background and it is so clever. The word play got me too. I recommend the MV for GIANT, it’s layered and ties into the song as well. Christmas EveL will definitely scratch your musical itch for a SKZ Christmas song :)
From the "GIANT" album only these 4 tracks are new ones: "GIANT", "Saiyan", "Love is painful" and "Christmas Love". The other ones are either old soundtracks or different version of other previously released songs.

is a reference to the previous opening and ending “Top” and “Slump” they did back in 2020 for the same anime (Tower of God). The songs were released as singles in japanese, korean, and english as well as the korean versions being included on their album Go Live (but not the repackage In Life which you listened to) they’re very good songs and especially loved by stays so if you were interested in reacting to them i know we would all love to see it! they also released instrumentals for both tracks which you might be interested in.

Yes, a lot of SKZ music is uplifting and empowering. They also do a lot talking about their own struggles (ie. depression, anxiety, etc) so they are really relatable. They write beautiful lyrics--Han's songs especially have gorgeous lyrics, he has such a way with words.
I love watching your reactions to music. You bring attention to the production of the music which I don’t always see because people get so much input with the songs and music videos. I have your videos open on a tab and I rewatch them to fall asleep at night(not in a bad way cause I listen to SKZ to fall asleep. I think it’s just the ADHD in me). Keep doing what you want cause that’s what makes your videos so enjoyable.

Ye I love skz songs but when you see the lyrics (the lyric videos are great for this) they hit deeper 100%… I wasn’t sure about giant the first time I listened but I’ve now listened to it about 50000 times 😂 and it is my new fave.. the music video is like an actual movie it’s 🔥. And everytime you comment you made about Christmas songs made me certain you’re going to LOVE Christmas evil it’s an absolute banger.. would def recommend lyrics for that one too. For this Christmas song Bangchan wanted a song that you can hear everywhere, like do you know when you go to mall e there is a Christmas playlist playing? I think that is because of this the song is more calm and soft
Yeah. Most of SKZ songs have positive lyrics. If you want to know what a song is saying, and there isn't a English version to listen to, just find a color coded lyric video. They won't always be accurate on who is singing, but the translations are mostly right.

Thanks for reacting Tony! I really liked how you handled re-listening to the different language versions, pulling different aspects of it and diving into the lyrics for English versions. I loved how you described polyrhythms in a way that made total sense!! I believe in the part you were referencing in WHY, the snare and bass are maybe playing the same rhythm, but just offset from each other? It has an rhythmic feel because snare hits are rather on the offbeats.

愛をくれたのに、なぜ means something like 'why did you give me your love' and with parts like 'love is painful' this is a nice contrast to christmas love where it's "all about Love" with such cute and innocent lyrics about love 🥰
So yeah not all of their songs have those typical uplifting or 'we are the best' type of lyrics, even though there are a lot 🔥
If you want a skz Christmas song…Christmas EveL is the way to go! It has an MV and it’s a full album! The other songs are more ballad type but Christmas evel is chefs kiss - definitely recommend the MV too!

@tonystocco makes perfect sense, as soon as I saw it I was like, yep, ant to a giant. The scale is so hard to comprehend, pictures never do it justice. I saw climbers setting up a suspended camp for the night, and they were tiny specks against the rock.

since you like the lyrics for night and falling up, i really encourage you to check out the lyrics for a lot of their songs. skz from the very beginning has written a lot about overcoming struggle, and living with it, as well, and the fears and doubts they've had. they've been very open with their own experiences of depression and anxiety and their own struggles to find who they are, which is a huge reason their music has become so popular because it's so relatable on top of being an auditory feast ever album. aside from their strong emotional message and support, their lyrics are also absolutely filled with wordplay and puns and jokes (often backed up again by music video visuals), which can make digging into lyrics along with the videos and the music itself really fun, finding all the little things they've sprinkled in just for fun

As an anime fan, this album is so fun to listen to. Three of the songs (Night, Falling Up, and Why) were written as anime OSTs, so the "new" songs on the album also have an anime OST feel (with a Christmas song thrown in for fun). I could definitely see Giant and Saiyan as the intro to an action anime and other song (which roughly translates to "you gave me your love, why") would be a great intro for a romance/school days anime. Even though it's different from their other albums, I love the theme of this release. The guys sound great and I even like the Christmas song 😄
As somwone mentioned earlier. Falling up lyrics mention their previous Tower of God songs TOP and Slump. You should really react to the. They are beautiful. Slump they performed on a First Take episode and their live vocals are breathtaking.

Would love you to revisit some of their songs with lyrics (English translation). There are color coded lyric videos, where it shows who’s singing and is translated into English. Especially with songs like Silent Cry, the lyrics are very hard hitting. Also recommend listening to SKZ-replay (preferably with lyrics too), it’s like a collection of their SKZ-records that they’ve released on TH-cam only throughout the years in one album. There’s plenty of their solo works and songs in groups of three or duets in the album.

I didn’t love Giant at first but now…banger! I love all of them. The Japanese albums are always fire!
I think when you listen to GIANT more you will like it more. I immediately picked up Changbin in the second voice scaling down while he was rapping with the high pitch noise in the background and it is so clever. The word play got me too. I recommend the MV for GIANT, it’s layered and ties into the song as well.

From the "GIANT" album only these 4 tracks are new ones: "GIANT", "Saiyan", "Love is painful" and "Christmas Love". The other ones are either old soundtracks or different version of other previously released songs.

Fun fact about Christmas love… The album came out yesterday as I was going to the store so I listened to it on my way there.
