I’m still getting compliments on my locs! I haven’t touched the color up yet either. It’s been like 5 months. I just shared your video with someone! Thanks again for this awesome easy tutorial
omg i can't believe how well the color took without bleach !!! it's taking everything in me not to run to the hair store and get me some 😩 also question: did the color stain your bathtub/shower ? and did the color penetrate inside the loc, or was it just kinda the outside (if that makes sense) ?
there’s a lightning agent in it, that’s why you need the developer to activate it. i’ve used it before and it didn’t stain my bathtub. you just have to clean it once you’re done ☺️
Sammmmme!!!! LOL did you go??? No ma'am it didn't stain but I'd still move quickly on rinsing everything out!! From what I can tell the lighter ones are where the color penetrated the locs (it makes total sense) 🥰
Your hair looks great!! I’m seeing this 2 years later. Did your hair stay soft? I’m contemplating coloring my locs, but I damaged them with bleach last time, and I’m wondering if the developer-only process kept your locs undamaged and soft?
Thank you!! I had to intensify my moisturizing routine! I’m not sure if there is a difference but I hope you were able to find peace while waiting on my response (my apologies) 🫶🏽
I’ve been rockin burgundy hair for the past eight years. I use medium intense red & I was wondering how I was going to keep the color now that I have locs Thanks for sharing. You look marvelous.
Glad I watched this because I definitely washed my hair last night & I was suppose to get it dyed tonight. Whelp I’ll wait. How long do you think I should wait ?
I love the colorrr! I'm too much of a baby to try lol and I was kinda digging the first look, where the dye was halfway done. lol girl you are looking so goodt!!?🥺
Aww thank youuu!! LOL I undastand cause I was and still am a baby 🤣 same! it got me excited for when it grows out! thank youuuu🥺 She really is!! (I'll tell her!!) They are the best!
Loved this video quick and simple. Do u need the highlits to lighten the hair. Is that a key ingredient n does it have to b copper if u using diff colors?
You only used 8 boxes, I may need to buy more because my locs comes down to knees and I’ve only bought four😩 I’m new to coloring my hair also and has no idea. This was very helpful.
First ! Your video was fantastic and your hair looks great. I’m ready to dye my hair - but I literally just did a retwist. Now I don’t really care if the roots are darker just looking for something brighter overall. Could I still dye with retwist ? Not washed, just retwist?
I know this is an older video but how long did you let it sit on the locs and then how long did you let it sit on the roots. I think you said locs 45 and roots 30?
I dye without bleach as well My hair is very spongey so I use alot of the in my hair as well My hair also pulls red naturally so I tend to stick to the red colours when I dye my hair The end result looks amazing
@@thequalityname you're welcome I don't dye my hair too often going forward I only plan on doing it every two years in the late fall early winter since I did it Dec of last year, the next time I'll dye it will be Nov/Dec 2022
I love that color on you, it’s ✨PERFECT✨!!! Completely unrelated, who did you angel number tattoo? (I only ask because I know you live in Atlanta too and I’ve been looking for an artist that does lettering and numbers similar to yours.)
It’s so funny that you posted this video because I literally tried this same method using hiColor and developer (don’t remember the strength) a couple of years ago and the colour didn’t really take. You could only see the colour in certain lighting lol 😂 I love your results, came out beautiful 🤗 I think I might try again but in a few years or so. I’ve had the urge to cut my hair off and start from scratch even though I whole heartedly love my locs (I’ve been locked for around 4 years). I’ve had long hair since I was a baby and I’d like to try something new, out of my normal element. Anyways, I’m sorry for the long ass message. Not what I intended. Thanks for reading it/making it this far lol. God bless 🙏🏾☺️🇨🇦
No freaking way lol! I definitely see how it's possible for it to not lift as much cause some of my babies said uh uh lol. Aww thank you!! 🤗 🤗 Oooo that'll be exciting!! and Yessss to change!! I think it'll be a lovely experience and the best part is you can always regrow your hair so why not experience it all! LOL you're super fine!! Thank you for sharing boo!!
You went from jet black to ginger... was your hair dyed jet black or is that your natural color? I had my stylist do a skunk patch on my locs, but she didn't get the roots nor did she get all of the section that I wanted dyed, so I want to go back and do it myself, but I'm scared that the colors will be off. I dyed it jet black prior to the brown skunk patch.. I'm also wondering if I will need to bleach, or can i skip that part?
Hello I was wondering does your friend know if this would be safe for someone to do who has had a allergic reaction to the box hair color such as dark and lovely box. It has been years ago I was wondering does those products have similiar ingredients. I have locs and have been wanting to die my hair as well. Thanks
@@mackdaddyjaz so I colored my hair with just the hi color (copper) and 30 developer and honestly I love it lol after watching a few other videos I notice that the Cajun spice has more brown in it than orange and I was really going for fiery ginger look

typically the higher the number the stronger it is! hicolor typically says use 30/40 developer but i would recommend not going above 30 as 40 is more likely to damage/melt your hair! And if you have loose hair (not in locs) I would recommend only using 20 developer as a lot of people say 30+ developer can damage your natural curl pattern (but that’s less important is you have locs)

If there isn’t any bleach in it you can start from the roots. Color just deposits on top. Bleach changes the bonds of your hair.

The ends are actually more porous and take color faster. You should start at the middle, then do the roots and ends.

It’s only sold at Sally’s and when using this use equal parts of developer to tube. Example: 2oz to 2oz

my sister and i are coloring our hair this summer. i'm loc'd, she's not. did you condition afterwards, or just stick to your usual regimen of castille, free the roots, and castor oil?
because i don't condition now, and don't really want to, since the jbco keeps it just as moisturized as it was when i was a loose natural.
I stuck to my routine! but I would suggest conditioning and I would also look at As Told By Brittany's page she has some great colored locs advice!

My question is.. does the number on the developer matter? I wanted to get the 30
typically the higher the number the stronger it is! hicolor typically says use 30/40 developer but i would recommend not going above 30 as 40 is more likely to damage/melt your hair! And if you have loose hair (not in locs) I would recommend only using 20 developer as a lot of people say 30+ developer can damage your natural curl pattern (but that’s less important is you have locs)
