    There are 2 types of sanshin 三線 in Ryukyu:
    + Long neck, use fingernails (similar to Chinese 小三弦):use in Ryukyuan court music (Uzagaku)
    + Short neck, use plectrum (the one in this video) : use widely in both royal and folk music

      Ryukyu clothes style had been enfluenced by Japan. Japanese formal Kimono style needs Hakama trousers for legs. Ryukyu kimono and Japanese kimono are
      very similar but little parts are different. From foreigner's eyes the difference is difficult to distingwish.

      @@SuperValue350So cultures can’t influence one another? It would be absurd to think that Ryukyu didnt receive any influence from Japan due to its proximity and being under its control. You know what else is influencing Okinawan culture? The Americans. You mean to tell me that due to its location, Ryukyu received influence from neighboring regions…all except from Japan? When you live in close proximity to a neighboring nation, you are bound to be influenced by it.
      Sorry, but cultures dont develop in a vacuum.

    • @kenepee2153
      @kenepee2153 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrAlexanderrangel Just like genus goes to species etc, "basically the same" i used refers to the generalization, overall judgement, which is derived from the same "root". As they grow, be them culture, organism etc, of course they develop their own identity. Their own uniquenesa. Just like languages. Français, L'Espagnol, Porto, and Romansch all have their root in the old Latin of Rome. But they also absorb many external input along their way, just like as their speakers life goes they also develop internally. In the end, they all develop into distinct languages. But anybody who command mastery over just 1 of them could more easily understand the other sibling language, compared to other person who is totally foreign to any of the language at discussion.
      That's what i meant by "basically the same".

      I don’t think Taiwanese Aboriginals and Ryukyuan people share the same ancestry, at least there is no traceable linkage between the two. Their respective indigenous languages are way too different; one undoubtedly belonging to the Japonic language family, and the other Austronesian.
      In terms of music, it’s possible they have influenced each other and that’s likely considering the geographical proximity of the two cultures.
