I miss Kevin as Elmo. The new guy isn’t bad but there was just something about Kevin. Of course, he started Elmo so he would be better.
Actually he didn't. He gave Elmo his personality. I'll say the modern puppeteer isn't the problem. It's Seasame Street Workshop, they made Elmo too nice and cute.

Kevin Clash definitely gave Elmo a personality that made him stand out from every other person who performed as him, I loved it, and I miss Kevin performing as Elmo too...but this new Elmo, his voice, the way he's written, idk what they've done to him
@藍染 惣右介Aizen Sousuke He didn't create elmo, but before him, Elmo was just an Anything Monster with cycling personalities. Clash is the one who made Elmo who he is.
Even without them being puppeted as much, I still feel the soul in Elmo here. Goes to show how iconic Henson's puppets are, it's hard to remember they aren't actually alive sometimes.

@@Angie2343 What? No, he resigned after the sexual allegations against him. It was a whole thing.
@@BettyMareeHOHCountry In 2012, a 23 year old man claimed that him and Clash had sexual relations when he was only 16. This was huge news. 2 or 3 more people came forward too but all cases were dismissed. Sounds like the men lied about how young they were and they were over 18. Anyway he could possibly make a comeback as Elmo but I doubt he will since that's with Seasame Workshop. But he has been working with The Jim Henson Company in the last 3 years.
It’s amazing how Elmo is a puppet but yet when he talks we all look at him and listen to him like an actual person lol which is why I love showing my kid the muppets and sesame street

One thing different about him than others. Elmo is zoning out, but others the muppet is listening and reacts to the muppeteer

Even though the Muppeteer is right out in the open, my brain thinks that the voice came from the Muppet and not the Muppeteer.
He’s a Puppeteer, NEVER muppeteer. That goes all the way back to Henson himself.
The “well your wife is not here” line was savage and he didn’t even know it. Rove’s wife at this time was ether very sick, or had passed away.
Aired July, she passed in November. So yeah, very sick.
Rove since remarried since his first wife passed away. i believe he is a father as well.

What blows me away is how plain Kevin is, gives very basic answers and doesn’t say anything surprising.
But when he switches to Elmo he’s so quick witted and you never know what he’s going to say! Just an observation

I've noticed that this happens in general muppet performers, even watching old Jim Henson interviews. I think there is a certain amount of energy and spontaneity in their work that helps their performances but can express as "butting in" during more conventional interviews. I've noticed this happens whether the actor is appearing as them, as their character, or both.
the host's objective is to get the guest to talk. not a pity. a success.
