As an app developer that had to fight Apple over the smallest items to get my apps approved, it blows my mind we're seeing emulators on the official app store... love it
They got no other options after that EU scene
EU has been putting Apple in their place. Sadly the FTC doesn't go after American companies unless it effects them financially.

@@Justakattoits best to look it up yourself but basically. Europes laws are the reason apples being forced to add usb-c/sideloading/less restrictiveness to ios.
For real… years ago when I was making apps I had them rejected over and over making me miss release dates for clients. Learned the hard way that I would tell my clients “once we get to the point of submitting the app we’re at the mercy of Apple on when it hits the App Store.”
I never thought this day would ever come...

I’ve been a ppsspp fan since 2014, a literal child, it’s absolutely nuts seeing this come to life on iOS, I bought gold just to support the developers too, my backbone is about to experience true torture 😂
Ios is almost on the level of android for emulation. But they guna need jit since android allows jit. That way more comparisons can be done with android and iphone emulation. Crazy since the sideload option that was already there allows ways to activate jit.
Ps2 is all I need next

It will not happen since it requires JIT. Apple does not allow devs to use JIT for App Store apps.

This remined me of my days with iPhone 3gs. This is awesome for the iphone user. I will still be using Android as its more open and customizable.
Mhmm with jit tho iphones do have possibly more emulation potential than android but I've seen the comparisons of jit on and off for iphone 15 pro and wasn't too impressed it was still studdering with mario kart wii which I'm sure androids don't studder with. Again I did see older videos of iphone 13 pro running gamecube even rogue squadron 2 at full speed so who knows.

For me PPSSPP and Delta is fine for me, very happy I can now have them on my iPhone. My 14 Pro Max runs Killzone Liberation at 4X resolution great! But it really needs a controller. I’ll have to set up the FPS to see how fast it’s running.

No retro achievements kill both those apps for me… using RetroArch which the UI and compatibility is garbage compared to delta and Ppsspp…

Android still has way more emulators than iphone and most likely they won't get those later consoles and pc due to not having jit support and you can do alot more customization on android than iphone

I hope in the near future Apple gets more lax with allowing JIT usage, mobile apple devices have insanely good CPUs so if they could clear that hurdle then I think Gamecube and ps2 emulation would be a breeze

Retroarch is on Apple TV as well, personally still prefer playing games on TV. But for some reason PSP games instantly crash retroarch at the moment

I have a problem when I went to emulator games and download games on psp on my iPhone and play them but there was no sound and I can’t hear music and the voices which sucks is there anyway to fix it

Dolphin and Nintendo had quite a... rocky relationship.
The developer really wants to release the Dolphin 🐬 emulator for iOS/iPadOS. But Apple restricts JIT (Just-In-Time) recompiling on their iOS/iPadOS platforms. I understand the reasoning though, as allowing such a thing makes the device unsafe.
Just bite the bullet and get an Android phone. Sweet tasty Dolphin 🐬 mmmm

It will come, give it time.
Apple is going full throttle for gaming on their platforms, and they need to give every kind of tools to devs to port their apps at full potential. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but i think in some months things will change; afterall now iPhone has to compete with Android in emulation, and lack of JIT will make iPhone appear weak, which isn't something Apple will be happy for.

@@oo--7714 That is not what this is about. Apple is tryin to boost the game creation in their platform aka IOS because they’re main priority is the AR-VR hybrid Apple Vision Pro. In order to capitalize the VR marker share which they’re sayin is the future, they need more developers in their platform and so they’re slowly loosening their restrictions. The literal dream of VR enthusiasts are VRMMO games, and for that to happen Apple needs more experienced developers and the developers need more freedom to create.

If it ain't clunky to you, you probably can get a wired 8 bit do controller and a usb to usb c adapter will let it connect to the iphpne or iPad. Sure it would work cause I do it on my samsung s24 ultra and there's no lag. The controller I mentioned also isn't expensive so it's a better option than telescopic controllers.

We need a good ps2 emulator on ipad, hopefully some one can do aethersx2 but it was removed from the playstore on android recently so thats sad
It's still out there just not on the play store. And aethersx2 I believe is on m1 and m2 macs running really well even at high res so iphones would do well with it.

Why not just use a Bluetooth controller? I think those would be better (PS4/PS5 Controller, Xbox Controller, maybe even Switch Controllers)

I just tried it tonight and it’s just unbelievable ! I can finally get the feeling I got a few years ago when I had android 😂
And comparing before on android I had poco f1 when it first came out as flagship but playing certain games like Artic age and flat out didn’t seem to be that smooth but now on my iPhone 11 it works butter smooth and I think the fps is also constant and stable like around 50-60 on iPhone than on the psp itself which gives around 20-30 fps if I’m correct

I compared Silent Hill Shattered Memories on my M1 iPad Pro vs my PSP and the PSP was better 🤨 it even had better dynamic range, the illuminated zones with the flashlight looked so much better on the PSP and the iPad had some weird lines 😬

Now that the iOS is getting emulators, can you recommend an iPhone that is inexpensive and powerful enough to emulate games up to the Wii/PS2? I recall that you purchased an iPhone for around $100 or $150 that ran emulators exceptionally well. Which new or used iPhone within that price range would be ideal for emulation?

The main issue is support. People preach it but apple after a while stops your apps from working that isn't a issue on android but it did happen to my older iPad. Os support may be long but that's cause they expect you throw out your device once that support is done. Android doesn't care about that for the most part although it does happen you can always use older versions etc and that isn't a option with apple computers or phones at the moment.
@@robmalcolm8042 bro used iPad-1 version from 1700. No one has that happen to them. Unless the app you are trying to download is not compatible with your old os. Which happens in android too. Compatibility is a thing in android too.
