      I did not expect the Mavs to go that far prior to the 2011 playoffs.
      It came down 4 teams. Bulls, Heat, Lakers and Spurs.

      Dirk doesn’t get enough credit. But Dirk and Hakeem are the only two superstars to win championships without an all-star teammate. And Dirk is considered the second best PF ever, ahead of Karl Malone. If it wasn’t for Jordan, Karl would surely have 2 and there would be a debate about 2nd best PF.

    It is almost incredible to see Michael Jordan entering a new level, no one had ever seen before, in the finals. It is almost crazy to think he averaged 41 ppg in 1993 finals. Highly exaggerated. Lebron is Lebron. See 2003-2009 The man couldn’t beat Dwight Howard due to the physicality in the EAST. Let it sink in sir. He had to go to Miami and squad up. That is a fact. The Celtics. The Pistons. The Magic. All physically imposing teams. They beat Lebron up. Physically and mentally. The Celtics in particular. Even at their older age and not on their prime. So no. It’s not a given that Lebrons physical prowess would make him any better or worse in a different era. We’ve seen him in his OWN era which is less physical than those and he’s LOST A LOT. That is a fact. Peace.

    MJ most definitely should be #1, he averaged over 40 ppg and was the clear best clutch player than everyone at the top. With the least amount of offensive help too.
    Last 5 minutes score within 5 pts
    MJ in 93 11-23 30 pts
    Pippen in 93 2-12 7 pts
    Shaq in 00 6-9 20 pts
    Kobe in 00 2-5 8 pts
    LBJ in 16 1-5 4 pts
    Kyrie in 16 1-3 3 pts
    MJ alone was 11-23 47.8%, Shaq/LBJ/Kobe/Kyrie/Pippen together were 12-34 35.2% (granted most of those missed shots were from Pippen) but it still shows how great MJ was in the clutch and that this myth that he always had a superteam or that he won bc of Pippen is dumb as hell.

  • @eternalboss1046
    @eternalboss1046 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This will likely be an unpopular opinion, but I think the finals of 03 Duncan or 94 Hakeem should be it because of the overall load they had to carry relative to their teammates in order for their team to have a chance. They had to be their team's best scorer, play maker for others, rebounder, defensive anchor, and closer while having no elite offensive or defensive players with them.
    Jordan never had to be the team's defensive anchor and lead rebounder (I know he was a guard but still we are comparing all players and positions here), while the 2 above I listed did in those finals while being the main offensive option. They did not have a mega offensive threat to take some of the offensive pressure off like 2000 Shaq had with Kobe, and 16 LeBron had with Kyrie. One could argue LeBron had to be the 2016 team's best everything but I'm giving Hakeem and Duncan the small edge due to not having a Kyrie level scorer alongside, and Kyrie was arguably the closer. Nor did they have a Pippen level player to take some of the defensive and play making pressure off like Jordan had. Robinson was washed and Manu and Parker were not near elite in 03 for Duncan, and 94 Hakeem had no elite teammates.

    • @FuShengAlex
      @FuShengAlex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This! Both were far more "all around impressive and carried heavier loads at both ends.
      Also I'd like to add Rick Barry in 1975 should've made this list. That was a very underrated title winning Finals mvp performance.
      He more than doubled his 2nd best players scoring average that series. One of only 2 times a Finals team has swept as the underdog.

      @@stopplzs Meh, that's not entirely true.
      Yes, he didn't win a ring until 2011, but remember that he had led his team to the finals in '06. The road to that Finals was one of the hardest in history. He had to face Tim Duncan's Spurs in the SECOND round! It's widely accepted that reffing played a major role in the '06 Finals and contributed greatly to his loss.
      Also don't forget the 2003 WCF against the Spurs. Dirk got injured in game three, but a legitimate argument could be made that if he stayed healthy he could have beaten the Spurs that year. That was when Steve Nash was coming into his own with Michael Finley.
      The choker thing is also misleading because Dirk never had the help that many other champions got. So putting the loss solely on him never really made sense.

      @stopplzs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chasemichael6008 I agree that he’s a great player, not taking that away from him. Hypotheticals can swing in any arguments favor so I don’t see the point in bringing that up. Yes, he got injured but he may have very well lost as much as he could’ve won. The Mavericks got reverse swept in 2006. The officiating was sketchy for about one game, that wouldn’t justify the others and D Wade did have an all time great performance. Also, Dirk didn’t play perfect in 2011 either. He started out shooting poorly game 6 against the heat, and it was Jason Terry’s 19 that kept the heat in the game. I love that Dirk won a ring, but I hate how this conception has arisen that he completely carried that Mavericks team. Of course he was the leader and best player, but Chandler’s rim protection, in addition to Kidd and Terry’s contributions shouldn’t be overlooked. Actually, the importance of Chandler’s rim protection showed the next year when the Thunder swept the Mavs. They just weren’t the same team defensively

    • @chasemichael6008

      @@stopplzsYou're right that hypotheticals can swing both ways. My point was that he was one injury away from possibly adding another finals appearance under his belt. I brought this up to counter your point about him being seen as a choker. I think we can both agree that make three finals appearances in the extremely tough Western Conference is the opposite of consistently choking.
      Please don't take this the wrong way, but your comment about the '06 Finals is simply not true. The reffing in 2006 was consistently terrible. Game three and four in Miami saw the Heat getting the majority of calls, but game five was abysmal. Miami shot *24* more free throws than Dallas that game. Wade shot 21 free throws in game six. Overall, Wade ended up averaging a little over 18 free throws a game!
      Please don't take that for me hating on D-Wade. Dude had an incredible series and was a remarkable player. But we simply can't ignore how bad that reffing was in that series. Tim Donaghy (the referee who was arrested for throwing games and making money off of it) even admitted that the series was purposely thrown in Miami's favor.
      Dirk had a flu game in the '11 Finals and also had a game where he tore a tendon on his shooting hand. Both of those play a part in his percentages going down. Yes, Dirk had a solid roster, but there was a reason why Miami's entire defense revolved around double teaming and crowding Dirk. One could argue that the reason why his teammates had such a great series was because of the spacing provided by Dirk.

    It’s a crime that you don’t have Jerry west in the top two. You have nice facts and editing in your videos but are very focused on stats to a fault imho. Shaq should not be that high considering he faced featherweights in the finals, same with Tim Duncan in 03. LeBron James also got very lucky due to that Draymond Green suspension and a plethora of injuries that Golden State had to endure. He played great no doubt, but ultimately was victorious more due to circumstance than to his own impact and skill.

His teams victory wasn’t necessarily all due to his overall play and impact basically. It’s more impressive to me if you were the best player on a great team who beat a great team as well as having a bunch of standout plays. Therefore, someone like Shaq or Duncan who beat up on an inferior team in the NBA finals and were able pad their stats as a result is just that, fools gold. Wilt in 72 would be in my top ten over them for instance.

    Dirk should not be on the list. How could you leave out shaq's 2001 finals mvp.??? He averaged the following against the defensive player of the year dikembe mutombo.
    33.0 points
    15.8 rebounds
    4.8 assist
    3.4 blocks
    In game 2 he put up 28 points, 20 rebounds, 9 assists and 8 blocks.
    Let's see shaqs 2001 finals mvp numbers vs dirks 2011 finals mvp numbers
    Points: Shaq=33.0 Dirk=26.0
    Rebounds: Shaq=15.8 Dirk=9.7
    Assist: Shaq=4.8 Dirk=2.0
    Blocks: Shaq=3.4 Dirk=0.7
    Steals: Shaq=0.4 Dirk=0.7
    I mean I like Dirk but come on lol. Shaq averaged 7 more points per game while shooting better. 6 more rebounds per game. 2.8 more assists per game. And 5 times the blocks per game. The only thing Dirk beat shaq was in steals at 0.7 to 0.4.
