Currently dealing with exactly the same problem and my solution I am using is I am sealing all of the joins along the tops, along the front curves and along the bottom. I then coat the wood itself in more mastic and bond that into place. I have to start fresh I want to make sure it is dry and will last. Extensive repairs but well worth it in the end.

As you can see, there wasn't anything worth saving with my bed. I'm pleased to say, that one year on and after some truly monumental rain this last year, the van has held up really well. If you get to the end of the series, you'll see how I incorporated 'aluminium roof supports' to reinstate the roof line to try to stop standing water on the roof. Good luck with your repairs.
