    $100,000 FAIR LANES OPEN
Fair Lanes Woodlawn, Baltimore, Md., Mar 31-Apr 4, 1981
    6-7-10 Just Enough For Webb
A 6-7-10 split in the 10th frame has been the downfall of many a bowler but the seven count was just enough for Wayne Webb to squeak by Steve Martin, 232-231, in the $100,000 Fair Lanes Open in Baltimore.
Webb, the 1980 Sporting News PBA Player of the Year, returned to form by beating Martin by 14 pins for the top-seeded position. Martin came back to challenge in the title game and forced Webb to come up with 17 in the 10th frame for the $13,000 first prize.
Webb managed exactly that, converting a 10-pin and tossing the split on his final ball for his first title of the year and seventh of his career. Martin had defeated Jay Robinson, 213-190, in the semi-final game after Robinson had downed rookie Mark Fahy and local favorite Steve Sipe in the opening matches.
