He has a lovely voice but would never sing in front of anyone. He would be in his room singing his heart out. And I remember in about 1971 my eldest brother got a record player. Wild! We are both a very throaty, yet very nasal people what can I say😂 I think because we open our mouths so much when we enunciate vowels and stuff, it just shows in all of our singers especially the accents coming from this era, producing this sort of artist
Jimmy‘s whole family is insanely talented. Diesel on the guitar is Jimmy‘s brother-in-law, also an amazing musician and singer. If you want to see a more recent Jimmy, check out Stone Cold with Joe Bonamassa. He also does a great duet with Tina Turner, Simply the Best. Bow River with Ian Moss back in his Cold Chisel days shows a wild Barnsey. If you’re interested, particularly being Scottish, Jimmy’s written a couple of really great autobiographies. His memoir Working Class Man was a number 1 best seller.

BTW John F was originally English, came out to Australia from Dagenham Essex when he was 10 like Barnsey did from Scotland. Diesal the guitarist is Jimmy's brother in law & writer & soloist as well.

If you wanted to know more about Jimmy Barnes there was a documentary made called working class boy where it takes him back to the street of Glasgow where he was born and his family immigrating to Australia. Well worth a viewing, he started out singing in some very rough pubs in South Australia and he talks about another Scott he used to go to the pubs to watch Bon Scott original front man from AC/DC

The original lead singer in AC/DC plus half the other members also hail from Scotland, but Bon Scott was my first foray into rock when i was young.
HIYA..Jimmy is another sweetie...These guys are their own persons...But musically can meld..It is really is a joy...They obviously feel joy in their work... Contagious...Both great live...I promise..
Both are happily married men...
I can’t wait for you to listen to more Jimmy Barnes and his band Cold Chisel. My favourite is Flame Trees. Enjoy!
2 absolute Aussie legends. Diesel is the guitarist ,he is amazing in his own right, he is also Jimmys brother in law .
The 90s were full of jimmy and johns music, also many other amazing Aussie bands.Sunday afternoons at the pub , hot days , listening to live music, can't beat it.
Diesel's real name is Mark Lizotte.
Both these legends always much better live.
@2:20 Excuse me, have your heard of AC/DC? Bon Scott (Yeah, stage-name, but nonetheless born in Forfar). I for one think his voice was beautiful.
I was one of the ladies that loved it. It was released as a single & I bought the single cassette to sing along to in the car (blaring). You may need to find out about cassettes. BTW John F was originally English, came out to Australia from Dagenham Essex when he was 10 like Barnsey did from Scotland. Diesal the guitarist is Jimmy's brother in law & writer & soloist as well.
Loving your reactions!
Loved this, and knew you would, too. Lead singer in Cold Chisel for years. Big in Europe, probably in Scotland back in the day. You should check out his Stone Cold collab with Joe Bonomassa, then move over to Simply the best, with Tina Turner, then Do you love me with Josh Terskey. The rabbit hole is long
i think this might be the first time Jimmy Barnes has ever been described as having a buttery-snooth, silky voice! he's an absolute screamer - so much so that he actually does some whole new thing with his vocal cords. check old cold chisel, and Jimmy's brother Swanee (John Swan).
Your enthusiasm and appreciation of the talent our two favourite Aussies have, is the best thing about that video. I love to hear and see your enjoyment at what I think is great music now lost in todays music of 😊technology. Being 73 years old, I think my contemporary’s and myself, had the best music to grow up with.
Love how genuine your reaction is mate, there will never be anyone close to John Farnhams voice ever.. He is like our royalty here these last 50 years! I have been to all his concerts and they're amazing every time.. i have many favs if you want a list.. welcome to the Farnham family mate hehe
DIESAL . Well loved here in Aus. A performer in his own right but has played with many bands. This is Brilliant.
Oh yes! Everyone/most Australians know these 3 guys and this song and yes this song brings back great 90s vibes.
That much fun can only be had by two performers at the top of their game with endless mutual respect for each other. They are clearly good mates, makes it a joy to watch- apart from the awesome performances 🥰
Oh to be a fly on the wall when the reversal of singing styles was floated and the shenanigans that undoubtedly ensued during rehearsals.
I think Jimbo would be thrilled to have a Scottish reaction you should DM this link ! You can still hear his accent although Aussies will claim him as their own through and through . I love this song and still flog the life out of it , originally bought it on Cassingle 👵🏼. Love this reaction so funny 🥰
Barnsey n Farnsey, bloody legends..
shout out to johnny diesel on guitar also. singer song writer and guitarist, another one of our greats. Never Miss Your Water is a good song of his
I’ve watched a lot of reactions on Jimmy Barnes, esp some singing professionals and made me understand how good his voice really really is 😊
Absolute classic. awesome reaction! Your face when Jimmy started singing was priceless! They compliment each other so well, so glad you did this song. Jimmy grew up in Adelaide, South Australia where I'm from and in 1975 our high school was lucky enough to have a free concert by Jimmy in his band Cold Chisel...awesome stuff!
Yeah, love Jimmy Barnes! ❤️ He's from Glasgow, and does rock, blues, ballads, he just sings and he does share his space! I recommended him to you! 😁👍 I knew you'd appreciate this, always wow! 😁👏 Everyone loves Jimmy, and John! 🤗 I recommend you check Vanessa Amarossi too! 👍
Fantastic reaction to a great song.
Mat I just love your reactions, particularly to our Aussie musical icons. Your joy always makes me smile and whilst I replay your John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes reactions just because, when I'm sad they make me smile, thank you.
You should check out Jimmy's early work with Cold Chisel 🤘he was their lead singer 🖒both Jimmy &John are ABSOLUTE LEGENDS 💖💖💖💖
Die hard jimmy Barnes fan here. The first concert I went to at the age of 14 was Cold CHISEL, I even named my first son after him. Do yourself a favour and listen to some of cold chisels early music and his solo career also. You won’t be disappointed
I do like this clip, and understand its real liquor on the table. The 'Hey, Hey It's Saturday' version is really good too.
Make sure you watch 'Working Class Man', 'Forever Now', and 'Bow River' (which I reckon is the perfect song). Also watch Jimmy's duets with Jie Bonamassa, and Tina Turner
Great reaction. Knew you'd love it! Farnsie and Barnsie have always been brilliant together. The guitarist Diesel (Mark Lizotte) who is also Barnsie's brother in-law is a very taletnted artist in his own right. If you want to react to more soul checkout Barnsie and his son David Campbell, or to hear the flipside of Barnsie's talent checkout the band Cold Chisel and their songs Khe Sanh, Forever Now, Working Class Man, Bow River to name a few.
My absolute biggest vocal influences growing up ♥️
Oh, and if you get a chance to hear Farnham sing Gethsemane (Superstar) - Do It
For stumbling onto a song you’ve hit on one of the best.
7:19 his name is Diesel - he is a famous singer in Australia from the same era 😍😍
