    I was watching my Packers last night just hoping they’d compete, I believed Dallas was a great team, but I believed in all those young men on my team. As it started to unfold I got this feeling of Deja vu. In 2010 GB went into Atlanta in the divisional round and beat the number 1 seed. The final score was 48-21 and there was even a pick 6 right before half by Tramon Williams. I’m not saying GB is gonna win a ring this year, I’m just saying yesterday felt real special

    My buddy said that in 2022 (Rodgers' final year in GB), Matt Lafleur's offense was inexplicably looking like Mike McCarthy's offense in 2018 (Rodgers' final year with McCarthy). Both offenses seemed like it relied on jump balls in the passing game. I told him that in both cases he was watching Aaron Rodgers' offense checking out of every play.

    Packers fan here and I like that you pointed out Rodgers' unwillingness to run the LaFluer system. He would use elements of it but he is most comfortable in a West Coast scheme like McCarthy ran. He complained about wanting an offense that had movement like a Shanahan or McVay, but when he got one he never went as all in as he could of.
    He doesn't like running play-action with his back turned to the defense. He doesn't like tons of presnap motion. He doesn't like throwing over the middle unless it is wide open, preferring to attack the short stuff outside the sticks to set up a deep shot downfield. As he got older, he got away from using tempo, instead using every second of the play clock. The problem is that Aaron Rodgers-led offenses are explosive but predictable, which better competition can take advantage of in the playoffs.

  • @pappy6800

    Having pressure is a huge disadvantage when it comes to teams that do well in the regular season. As a packer fan, I have seen so many years of great regular season teams, that just fall apart in the playoffs. The only real exceptions of this are leaders that relish under pressure in the last two decades is Brady and Mahomes. Clicking at the end of the year is more important (I think) then having a great regular season and having a high seed. All the pressure is on those home teams.

  • @Pnw208
    @Pnw208 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

    Rodger’s refused to take snaps under center. For whatever reason he tended to abandon play action and he would eventually go pass heavy especially if they were down. It made them predictable. Play action is more effective under center and when you amhave a true 50/50 balanced offense. The defense literally doesn’t know what you’re doing. They always knew Rodger’s was gonna pass. Rodger’s also didn’t get these schemes open guys who are 30 yard open because the Lefleur sets up plays by calling them in a certain order. Rodger’s check out of plays which kills the rhythm and the scheme doesn’t work because they were predictable

Over reaction monday and now Rodgers is a bum, and Jordan Love is the second coming of Jesus.... Slow down, and chill. It was a good game vs a bad team don't over react because next week when the Packers get rolled by the 49ers you'll be making excuses for Love and say oh well it was a good season...

    • @Pnw208
      @Pnw208 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@MrCodeman2036 I’m a life long packers fan and a level headed football fan. I loved Rodger’s but I knew exactly what he was. You take the good with the bad. In his case the bad is exactly what I said. He was stuck in his ways. Scheme is about being balanced, using motions and mixing shotgun with being under center and lots of play action. The numbers don’t lie. Rodger’s lead teams went away from play action consistently over his career. He likes the McCarthy style west coast spread out offense so he can read the defense. He also hated taking snaps under center. He also played hero ball toward the later years and abandoned the run any time he felt like they were in a tough situation. This worked a lot because he’s elite but Rodger’s didn’t play Lefleur scheme. You see it yourself. You have 1st and 2nd year receivers 30yard open multiple times a game because Lefleur called played earlier in the game to set up those plays and bait the defense. Rodger’s tendency to check out of run plays to pass kills the balance and Ruth
      Of this offense. Again Rodger’s was elite so it worked, it really only worked when he had Adam’s or Nelson etc… he needed an elite receiver who could get open on his own based off skill. Lefleurs offense gets guys open based off scheming them open. My point is that Rodger’s was amazing but if he would have played this offense to T, he would have been better. He also hated throwing to young guys. You had to earn his trust and if you messed up he literally wouldn’t even look your way again for the entire game. He would shoot himself in the foot by eliminating half the receivers purely because he didn’t want to throw to them. Love is having more success than Rodger’s last year with less weapons. If Rodger’s was leading this team of 1st and 2nd year guys he would have crushed their confidence early in the season for all the mistakes they made. Love lifted them up and invited them over for dinner to study. Being a great talent isn’t the only thing that’s important. Brady won because he invested everything he had into building chemistry with receivers outside the field. Rodger’s was never like that

    With regard to the Packers, I believe Rogers was an albatross around the neck of LaFleur during his last 2 years in Green Bay. While Rogers had some great years, he became an arrogant, self-important person who projected a "you can't win without me" attitude. When he was criticized, Rogers typically would say, "they don't know me." In fact, we know Rogers through his spoken words and behavior. As a lifelong Packers' fan, I am happy he is with another team who will need to deal with his "difficult" personal behavior.

      I'm not one to usually do the comparing thing, but honestly that's the difference between last year and this year. A 39 yr old qb could no longer make plays to put the nail in the coffin. Love is earning trust to be able to finish games and lead late drives. He's been money many times on 3rd and 4th down this year.

    Chris, your perspective on reason(s) for Dallas' impotetence during post season games is sharp. Their failures aren't random. As long as Jerry Jones persists in injecting comments that are birthed from hubris, he makes it highly improbable to make it to a SB, much less win won. Dont expect JJ to hire an alpha type Coach w top teir ability.
    Would Mr. Jones rather continue losing if winning took the attention off of Jerry Jones ? Great coaches wouldn't likely take a job under Jerry's Terms & Conditions.

    Meanwhile, the other announcer was talking about Love, Jones, LaFleur and the defense and how badly the Packers were slaughtering Dallas and Olsen was silent 🤣
    Reminded me of Chris Collinsworth during the Chiefs game and how he couldn’t shut up about Mahomes… meanwhile, Love was outplaying Mahomes and Collinsworth barely gave Love any credit. He bashed Love for every mistake while he made excuses for Mahomes all night.

      Shanahan didn't blow it by not running enough. The Pats would have forced a 3 and out every time if the Falcons just ran and would have won anyway. The Falcons really didn't do anything wrong, the Pats just played great and came back. They had clutch players and knew how to win. The only mistake may have been at the very end when they could have just kicked the field goal. But those things can happen on one play. Could just blame Ryan for holding the ball too long. Shanahan did not blow that game.

    Chris's comments at about 9 mins about Rodger not wanting to run the new offence and ended up being traded, is exactly what happened to Favre too. Holmgren left, Sherman took over and let Favre run things, and when McCarthy came in, it was a conflict because Favre wouldn't run Mike's O. When Favre "retired" and wanted to come back, I believe it was MM that didn't want him back and Ted Thompson supported his coach and played the hated bad guy to the fans and traded Favre to the Jets for the betterment of the team and gave Rodgers his shot.
