  • @vorsprungdurchtechnik5

    After watching this I genuinely do not hate this car anymore.. Much more well executed than I even imagined. I'd look into buying one honestly, I don't think reliability is going to be that horrendous other then the electronics. I wouldn’t consider the M340i a competitor to this because it’s in its own league.

    • @MotoManTV

      Have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this car!

    • @517sf6
      @517sf6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn’t say the M340i is in its own league whatsoever. Yes it is much faster in a straight line but auto mags have more than proven this AMG is a better car dynamically. Not only did motor trend find the driving dynamics of this far superior, but several German mags have not only preferred it but have also shown its increased capability. In slalom tests the C43 pulls higher Gs and higher speed, finishing much quicker, and in a German track test it bested it by 1.5 seconds despite being slower in a straight line. Much of this they attribute to the rear wheel steering and more sophisticated suspension set up. I do think that the M340i is better polished overall, more comfortable and easier to live with. The BMW also has an insane amount of aftermarket and it doesn’t take much to make it an absolute straight line beast.

    • @vorsprungdurchtechnik5
      @vorsprungdurchtechnik5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@517sf6 I just resort to putting the M340i at the top of the segment because if you say anything negative about it online you get a ridiculous influx of BMW evangelists swearing it’s better than everything else. I personally think the BMW is for a relatively new and large niche that likes having the fastest, flashiest car that can come close to doing what all the others do and that is why I think it’s still in a league of its own. I’m glad to hear that the Mercedes is more dynamic, didn’t expect that honestly. If you ask me, BMWs are better when they follow heritage rather than making everything literal overkill, would much rather see the 3 series ditch gas turbo engines in favor for N/A slant sixes.

    • @517sf6
      @517sf6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vorsprungdurchtechnik5 I agree, anytime I ever say a negative thing about it I get crucified by fanboys. It’s hard to believe the AMG is that good dynamically for a lot until they drive it. AMGs two decades ago weren’t exactly precise machines. The M340i does serve its niche the best, it is the go-to car for people looking for their entry level performance car. It’s still good dynamically but it also has the BMW community which in itself is the main decision factor for many. The aftermarket, the support, the owners, events and forums that BMW has trumps anything any of its competitors have.

    • @vorsprungdurchtechnik5
      @vorsprungdurchtechnik5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Merc is prioritizing powertrain for China and Europe, which have far more aggressive emissions regulations. China taxes based on displacement, with a big penalty for anything bigger than 2.0L (that's why 2.0L turbos are ubiquitous), so this will do better in China than a M340i.

While BMW created the M3 Touring, in Stuttgart, driven by an "electrical hallucination", someone created this 43 and, above all, the 63: very heavy, with strange steering feedback and a vacuum cleaner sound. I know that this is the future that someone wants to impose on us, but I really don't like it.

But to me, it seems like this drive system is a few steps more complicated than the one in the CLA 45. I mean, if you're just gonna lease, none of that makes any difference. The C class, given how much it grew in size, became almost all the sedan one needs aside if you really want a more luxurius ride with the S. It´s interesting to be able to compare prices between Europe and the US. Here the new C-class plug-in has an asking price around 65k. Alo. Koenigsegg does something similar but different...They use a compressed air tank and valve control to pre-spool their turbo. The tank is refilled by a parasitic pump clutched to the engine. Apparently it was the lightest solution (for them).

I have the impression that this car (like most European cars) was not made with the aim of offering people value for money, but to get as much money as possible for as little value as possible! You can especially see it in the list of extra equipment, I feel like the prices of the extra equipment were pulled out of a hat, as if they set the prices not by how much the equipment really costs and how much it really is, but by how much they think someone will want to pay for it! The entire European auto industry has become repulsive to me precisely because of their attitude towards people!
